Religion is bad like:
…Music is bad.
…Art is bad.
…Literature is bad.
…Politics is bad.
…Ethnicity is bad.
…Statistics is bad.
…Weapons are bad.
I'm an atheist and I'm tired of these sophomoric simplistic attacks on religion. NO ONE can make religion go away we can only encourage and persuade those who have "faith" to adhere to the good parts of it and ignore/reinterpret the bad. I use this perspective against people who believe any of the "big three". Reform and reinterpretation is part of religious faith.
Why do people have faith, why do they "need" to believe? - I don't really know nor does it really matter just like I don't understand why some people love country music and hate "rap/hip-hop" or vice versa. Why do people love Cubism but feel nothing for Romanticism?…

When Religion helps people who are sick, starving, or in trouble, it’s a good thing. When people and countries use it as a tool to assert a war, or their point of view on someone else, it’s bad. It’s all based on the individual’s perception of religion. Unfortunately, there are too many leaders taking their cues from what they believe to be some kind of divine insight, when it’s nothing more than being drunk with power, and using God to validate their machinations.

Sorry to get political/philosophical, but the post calls for it.

I love how they take things out of context. I doubt anyone who gloats over that quote from the Bible about slaves has the courage or moral integrity to actually look up the topic of slaves in the Bible and figure out what the Bible’s ultimate position on slavery is.

It’d be nice if there was some thought put into this, making it a real platform for discussion. But this is really just thoughtless slander that makes Maher come off as more stupid than even worth paying much attention to. At least someone like Dawkins can be debated, even for those like me who disagree with him.

Best to just let this one die folks, until the next one to jump on the anti-religion money train…

Are some of you guys being sarcastic? Was everyone asleep when people like Lenny Bruce, George Carlin, and Bill Hicks were at their highest peek? You guys must have seen these guys in some form. Because they’re 100 times funnier and wittier than Maher.

I’m an atheist and while I do think religion is ridiculous and has done a lot of bad but I can’t stand losers like Bill Maher acting tough and outspoken because it’s his American right to have free speech and use it but if the had any balls at all the would’ve put Muhammad on there with a rocket launcher instead of a Jesus.

They know by going after the Christians they will most likely get complaints and threatening mail whereas if they did the same thing with Islamic/Muslim slant it would put them in the crosshairs of there extremest.

My point is that they are a bitches and only go after the safe and easy targets and thats too bad because seeing a film that won’t pander to anyone would be great and show how ridiculous religions is.
