Lionsgate’s Cannes Film Festival Teaser poster for Oliver Stone’s W. gives you a very good idea of what you can expect from the upcoming George W. Bush biopic. This won’t be a dramatic retelling of W’s life! But can Human beings and fish really coexist peacefully?

Official Plot Synopsis: Whether you love him or hate him, there is no question that George W. Bush is one of the most controversial public figures in recent memory. In an unprecedented undertaking, acclaimed director Oliver Stone is bringing the life of our 43rd President to the big screen as only he can. W takes viewers through Bush’s eventful life — his struggles and triumphs, how he found both his wife and his faith, and of course the critical days leading up to Bush’s decision to invade Iraq.
W stars Josh Brolin as George W. Bush, Elizabeth Banks as Laura Bush, James Cromwell as George Herbert Walker Bush, Academy Award® winner Ellen Burstyn as Barbara Bush, Thandie Newton as Condoleezza Rice, Jeffrey Wright as Colin Powell, Scott Glenn as Donald Rumsfeld, and Ioan Gruffud as Tony Blair.

I call upon all nations to do everything they can to stop these terrorist killers. Now, watch this drive.
June 4th, 2008 at 5:28 pm
Something about this reminds me of the poster for Uwe Boll’s Postal.
June 4th, 2008 at 5:40 pm
This movie confuses me. On the one hand, it’s about Bush. On the other hand, it’s about Bush. You get what I mean?
I guess what I’m trying to say is it would be awesome to have a straight edged, satirical, honest look at the life and times of this man. However I’m just not ready for it yet. The wounds are too fresh and watching it would simply make me so enraged I would most likely smash my TV.
Stupid American politics destroying my happy Canadian world… *grr*
June 4th, 2008 at 6:02 pm
So the President is a terrible man because he’s poorly-spoken?
June 4th, 2008 at 6:45 pm
haha, and people voted for this guy. Amazing…
I don’t care about this film at all. But that poster is great.
June 4th, 2008 at 8:02 pm
If it wasn’t obvious before, it’s definitely obvious now. This movie is being made to satirize and make-fun of the President. No one can question that it’s release (just a few weeks short of the November elections) is a ploy to influence voters. They aren’t even bothering to hide it anymore.
June 4th, 2008 at 8:57 pm
Oliver Stone, to the extent he ever evidenced talent, has lost it. This is really quite pathetic.
June 4th, 2008 at 10:04 pm
Joe -
he’s not a terrible man because he’s poorly spoken. it’s actually because he’s a fucking jackass who has way too big a notion of the extent of the executive branch’s power and jurisdiction.
his verbal diarrhea tendencies are just cause he happens to be dumber than a bag of hammers.
June 4th, 2008 at 11:54 pm
@joe
No. He’s just a terrible man. Open your eyes.
@Jreffy
The subject of this film doesn’t even try to hide many things either. His administration doesn’t even bother to hide their illegal activities any more.
@david
I heard that you saw this movie already. I’m jealous.
@hillary clinton
You’re reminding me of W lately. For shame!
June 5th, 2008 at 12:05 am
bad timing.
June 5th, 2008 at 4:11 am
I don’t think there is anything funny about this country’s electing and supporting a totally evil corporate puppet as he brought this country to its knees.
Let’s not forget who pulls the strings of American government! The US government is controlled by the top 1% of wealth-old money and new- and we just let them do it because we want to be able to drive our big SUV’s down to the store to buy lots of cheap stuff.
WAKE UP PEOPLE!!!!
June 5th, 2008 at 5:31 am
“It would be easier if the U.S. was a dictatorship with myself as dictator.”
W. Bush
Wish they would have put that quote in because it stupider than all the rest and of course was actually uttered by that giant douche.
Yes republicans want small government: so small that it all comes down to the whims of one idiot.
June 5th, 2008 at 7:35 am
You know there is a thing in Government known as Checks and Balances. A desicion is not cleared by one branch. This is also known as the Seperation of Power. This keeps the “whims of one idiot” (as JFK put it) from affecting the country.
Your all placing blame squarly on Bush’s shoulders when you need to be putting it on the Legistative and Executive branches as well (basically all the desicion making sections of the government are at fault here).
I’m not saying I support Bush. I personally don’t vote so honestly my opinion of the president doesn’t matter much. All I’m saying is don’t point your fingers at one person cause he just so happens to be the figure head of the government, it was more then just him that brought about the current state of things.
June 5th, 2008 at 8:16 am
i hate when people still defend that blubbering idiot. most of the ones that i have met only defend him because he is repulican(racist). I think its pretty pathetic to be so racist that you will defend a total piece of shit. and dont try to tell me i dont know what i am talking about. look at the people that still defend bush, they are normally old fashioned white people, from east texas or tennessee or something, and they happen to also dislike mexicans and blacks.. anyways, this aint no politics blog, so i wont go any further.. the poster is pretty good, but id like to see a picture of george bush looking confused
June 5th, 2008 at 10:28 am
@Lucin
Did you miss the signing statements ballyhoo from a few months ago? He was checked, balanced, and then he threw away the scale. Your first sentence should begin, “there is a theoretical thing in government…”
June 5th, 2008 at 12:09 pm
I am so excited for the movie. Bush is such a dumb fuck. I am disgusted that he’s still in office and has never been impeached. He’s single-handedly destroying America.
I hate Cheney, too. They both need to kill themselves.
June 5th, 2008 at 12:53 pm
Wow. I can’t actually believe this is for real. When are we going to get something interesting. Can’t believe the stuff that comes out nowadays. Yay for W and Transformers 2! Hot dang, movies are really something!
June 5th, 2008 at 2:39 pm
I hate bush with every ounce of my body. I cannot believe the american public actually re elected him after his first shit fest.
That being said, juding from the poster this film is looking like a gratuitous infantile hate fest. I would rather see W. bashed in a more subtle intelligent manner
June 5th, 2008 at 3:19 pm
W sill be just too late to be relevant. Bush holds office for what, two weeks after the release date? He’s already a lame duck president (as he has been for the bulk of his second term), and it just seems like Oliver Stone is trying to get his shot in before it’s too late.
I think this will be worse for Stone than Alexander. It’ll be dated before it hits DVD.
June 5th, 2008 at 3:22 pm
the timing might be bad for us, but im sure stone is thinking ahead. we are still making movies about past presidents, and at least this one will be made while the anal rape is still fresh in our collective minds.
June 5th, 2008 at 6:56 pm
Keep in mind not everyone voted for this reptoid.
And the elections are fixed anyway. The us elections are the biggest scam going.
There status quo is very important to maintain the illusion of freedom.
This movie should come out right before the next false flag attack and then WW3. Cool.
June 5th, 2008 at 10:44 pm
Hes not the sharpest knife in the drawer to be sure but he does have a degree from Harvard. How many of us can say that?.
June 5th, 2008 at 10:59 pm
He has a degree from Yale you mean.
Btw…..
He didn’t EARN any degrees, his daddy opened all the doors for him and groomed him to be the President after his term was over so that the NWO would succeed in destroying America.
He’s a puppet and does what he’s told.
You actually think he studied his ass off???
(A dog could beat him at checkers.)
This film should be called “Pinoccho”.
June 6th, 2008 at 6:45 am
This is the best leader a nation of 300,000,000 could find!?!
TWICE!?!
June 6th, 2008 at 8:11 am
@samwise2206
anyone with a filthy rich pappy can say that.
@790
to use a dog in this example is insulting to the dog. it is better to say a disabled dog, or a comatose dog to make things more comparable. better yet, a sponge or an empty seashell, assuming bush knows what checkers is of course. maybe instead we can say a sponge or seashell can beat him at peek a boo…. i dont like bush
June 6th, 2008 at 8:23 am
What I don’t get is why everyone wants a non-elitist to run a country of 300 million people. For sure, I want someone who’s not only more elite (better) than I am, but better thane everyone else!! Him being elected not only once, but twice, only reiterates my firm belief that most people are idiots.
June 6th, 2008 at 9:36 am
“No one can question that it’s release (just a few weeks short of the November elections) is a ploy to influence voters. They aren’t even bothering to hide it anymore.”
Right, because Bush is running for reelection.
June 6th, 2008 at 9:57 am
@abit
fuck, i wouldnt be surprised. i can see it now:
“For the first time in over 50 years, a president is re-elected for a third time! Even though he wasnt on the ballet, President George W Bush wins as a write-in candidate with over 400 million votes in Florida.”
June 6th, 2008 at 10:08 am
But Josh Brolin isn’t cross-eyed, his mouth is not offset by 5 inches to the side, his voice doesn’t sound like braying of a sick sheep and he speaks English fluently - is Stone trying to feed us an embelished portrait of the gnome called Dumbya? Can Brolin be convincing in the role of a tights-wearing cheerleading fairy? And who’s taking the role of The Bald Dick?
June 6th, 2008 at 10:19 am
“Right, because Bush is running for reelection.”
No, but there is another fascist running and he ain’t black.
June 6th, 2008 at 11:15 am
@Chuck
Him being elected not only once, but twice, only reiterates my firm belief that most people are idiots.
Hearing that there are still people who think GWB was actually elected reaffirms my belief that there are, indeed, many idiots out there.
Maybe only people better than you should be allowed to vote.
June 6th, 2008 at 12:01 pm
Hes not the sharpest knife in the drawer to be sure but he does have a degree from Harvard. How many of us can say that?.
I got a moon rock…does that make me an astronaut? He is a dubshit
June 6th, 2008 at 12:08 pm
Good point Big Daddy, however
I was refferencing a very obscure quote from “Farscape”.
Mark G, I heard that Richard Dryfuss is playing the Reptoid Dick!
I think its great that we all share a deep hatered for the scumbag!!!!!!
June 6th, 2008 at 12:18 pm
Bush: I talked to my little brother, Jeb — I haven’t told this to many people. But he’s the governor of — I shouldn’t call him my little brother — my brother, Jeb, the great governor of Texas.
Jim Lehrer: Florida.
Bush: Florida. The state of the Florida.
June 6th, 2008 at 1:05 pm
wow.
June 6th, 2008 at 6:20 pm
Why would I want to watch this movie? Living it was painful enough!
June 6th, 2008 at 6:22 pm
AxelDC, it aint over yet.
We still have to get thru this year…..
June 6th, 2008 at 7:18 pm
Let’s see:
Adam Sandler as Douglas Feith
Ed Asner as Cheney
Sammy Sosa as himself
Gene Shalit as Saddam Hussein
Fred Thompson as Rush Limbaugh
William Shatner as Antonin Scalia
June 6th, 2008 at 8:36 pm
I will definitely NOT be voting for George W. Bush ever again!
June 6th, 2008 at 8:45 pm
Peter, is there a release date on this?
