New WALL-E Trailer with Live Action Humans?

Disney has released a strange new trailer for Pixar’s WALL-E. “Meet The Bots” introduces us to the many bots we’ll meet in Andrew Stanton’s film. The strange part is that it begins as a promotional video from the Buy N Large Corporation. For a few seconds we get to see what live-action humans look like on the luxury starliner (before they became giant couch potato blobs, or course). It looks very Happy Feet-ish.

Stanton confirmed last year at WonderCon that “There is a live action element involved” but wouldn’t reveal more, only insisting that “We’re not doing anything like Happy Feet.” Fred Willard later revealed that he appears on a television monitor as the live-action spokesman of Buy N Large. So it’s clear that the human characters that left earth use to look like live action humans (as opposed to the animated Captain played by Jeff Garlin). And we have since seen that WALL-E watches a live-action version of the musical Hello Dolly in his trailer full of human collectibles. So I’m very curious to see if this is actually part of the film itself.

Thanks to /Film Reader Dustin R for sending over the tip.

    You have to get over this fucking movie. Animated robots! WOW!

    @Chris

    It looks like you enjoyed Uwe Boll's Postal movie a little too much huh buddy?

    You must still be dazed and confused from that flick to realize a true artistic film in front of your eyes.
  • 2 hours of robots in space. Robots who don't speak English, merely communicate in beeps and whistles. It's going to be like a 2-hour high definition oil painting with a Thomas Newman soundtrack.

    That sounds pretty "wow" to me.

    FYI, the song in the background is "Stealing Fat" from the Fight Club soundtrack. *thumbsup*

    Ahh yes the Dust Brothers... WAIT in WALL*E?

    @ Chris,

    You're kinda right. I mean these guys can't help but post info about movies that they're interested in though. If you want cut and dry news go to Hollywood Reporter. Listen, I'm not defending these tools either, I just saw The Fall and theer was f*ck-all about that great film on this sire.

    Just accept the fact that Slash Film has mainstream tastes (or ties) and leave it at that.

    I was liking the trailer until they showed the same spots we've seen before.

    I'm sick of those, i hope the movie doesn't relly too much in making wall-e cute-stupid

    It's not so much that I think this movie is/will be shit, I just don't understand the rabid enthusiasm for it that is seen on this site.

    @Chris

    Some people like the movie why is that a problem? I mean no doubt it's gonna be a good movie and for some reason a robot that doesn't speak is well liked. Look at R2-D2 everyone loves him and he doesn't even say his name. This is a movie news blog so they probably post stuff about movies they like if you don't like what they cover then find another blog.

    I don't like the live action integration. It seems lazy on their part not creating character models. Plus it doesn't integrate as well with the CGI environments that seem more fit for animated Incredible-eque characters.

    the garbage-bot (wall-e) had the most detailed description, is that cuz he's the main character, or are the others just simple? gotta hand it to em though, he is pretty damn cute.
  • Wall-E will be fun-e ;)

    SRSLY - I loved the incredibles because of their Sci-Fi-Elements and I enjoyed Ratatouille but Wall-E already looks really great. And it has explosions. Me likes explosions ;)

    To be honest, I am curious about how they want to dub the german version because the original-version will have synthesized vocals, AFAIK...

    @ Chris

    I was going to have a bit of a rant regarding why you would read a blog entry about a film you're not interested in, let alone take the time to comment on it. But you've achieved in one sentance what I doubt could be achieved in a hundred responses to your comment - you come across as a moron.

    ME. WANT. NOW.

    @ Whiskey - yeah, I noticed the FC music too. Nice hint of subversion in a promo spot for an animated kids flick

    (Man, that soundtrack's right up there with Vangelis' Blade Runner stuff.)

    Holy Shit! Fight Club soundtrack in a Disney trailer!? Oh, the OUTRAGE!. Where's my fucking shotgun?
  • David Hollingsworth
    Why is there such a problem about how excited people are about this movie. I am one of those people. If you don't want to see this film, please don't comment on it.
