Eagle Eye

I’m not sure if you’ve heard this yet, but Steven Spielberg had this idea which is the basis for Shia LaBeouf’s next film. NO, I’m not talking about Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (that was clearly George’s idea). I’m talking about Eagle Eye, the first original story Hollywood has seen from Spielberg since 1985’s The Goonies. And before you get too excited, no, Spielberg didn’t direct (he was way too busy with that little Harrison Ford film), Disturbia director DJ Caruso was again paired with Shia.

The teaser trailer comes off as a cross between The Matrix and Enemy of the State, although the official plot description describes as a young man who gets tangled up in a terrorist cell plotting a political assassination. Although, you won’t exactly get that information from this new teaser. But then again, I guess that’s why they call it a teaser, right? Watch the trailer and tell me what you think in the comments below!

You can watch the new trailer in High Definition on EagleEyeMovie.com. Eagle Eye hits theaters on September 26th 2008.

Looks pretty fucking cool if you ask me. I’m just wondering how plausible the story will actually be when we know all the details.

  2. Gravatar

That looks dope. Wasn’t a huge fan of Disturbia, but I like Shia a lot, and Caruso seems like he could do some damage. I’ll see it in theaters.

  3. Gravatar

Looks good, except I wish Shia wasn’t starring in it.

  4. Gravatar

Isn’t “Eagle Eye” slang for that part of your… wait, am I thinking of “Whale Eye”?

  5. Gravatar

It might be anything terribly original, but I liked the trailer.
It was confusing enough to make me want to see what it is
all about. I also like seeing Shia play an adult, I think it’s
    about time.

  6. Gravatar

    p.s.

Screw plausibility, as long as it’s good movie. There’s a huge misconception - where, people mistake, the representation of realism as good story telling.

Realism becomes a time / money wasting endeavor, with most action / thriller / horror movies, in my opinion.

  7. Gravatar

boss- are you off today, little or no content!! Let;s go, turnover is dragging. thanks!

  8. Gravatar

    So far I’m on board.

  9. Gravatar

The movie might be good, but I don’t see it making tons of dough. (The real reason movies get made these days.) And topics like terrorist cells plotting political assassinations are sometimes too serious and topical for a viewer like myself. Not saying I think most people would agree, but I’d wait until it was on TV.

  10. Gravatar

I am totally down to see this movie. Looks very interesting, to say the least.

  11. Gravatar

Looks like plenty of chances for Shia’s patented “no no no ononononononon” throughout…

  12. Gravatar

I love Shia and this movie looks good

  13. Gravatar

This looks like my type of film.
I always wanted Shia to do something more adult

  14. Gravatar

Wasn’t this the movie that had the spoiler pics of Shia dying?

He had fallen off a building, in the pictures from a few months back.

  15. Gravatar

    Thanks for ruining it Joe.

  16. Gravatar

Nah Joe that was from some short film that he was doing.

  17. Gravatar

    @ Joe…

No, those were for a scene from the upcoming “New York, I Love You” film.

  18. Gravatar

    looks cool

  19. Gravatar

“Disturbia director DJ Caruso was paired up with Shia again on this film.”

    hahaha

  20. Gravatar

Can’t see much from the teaser as usual but it seems
interesting. Shia doesn’t bother me at all (it seems
people love to hate this guy) so I’ll have to rent it.

  21. Gravatar

    Okay, consider my interest peaked.

  22. Gravatar

This will do exactly as well as Disturbia, and Shia will again be credited with making money out of what would otherwise be a run-of-the-mill thriller.

  23. Gravatar

    LOL

I’m sorry but this looks stupid and VERY unoriginal.

I thought Peter meant they would draw on elements of the Matrix and Enemy of the State, not actually steal whole plot points and cool scenes.

Not hating on Shia though, just think he’s playing a part here he does not look the age to play. Disturbia was surprisingly average, but an ok film.

But seriously, WTF is going on here?

  24. Gravatar

Shrug…Shia will be fine in about 6 years…But right now…Still stuck in that Man-boy stage. Can’t be both…To baby faced still for me to take terribly seriously.

Looks ok, but the phone thing is totally Matrix no matter what anyone says.

  25. Gravatar

I’m glad he’s getting an adult role finally. Disturbia was such a pleasant surprise, and I expect this to be just as good, if not better.

  26. Gravatar

    gives just enough intrigue

  27. Gravatar

I can’t stand Billy Bob Thorton
    Shia’s alright
    looks nice

  28. Gravatar

    Fuck that looks good :)

  29. Gravatar

Agreed - Billy Bob, not so much.

other than that this movie looks very promising

  30. Gravatar

Shia really is the new Harrison Ford in that he just keeps playing one character in slightly different roles. Don’t get me wrong Ford is awesome, but Shia’s one character doesn’t work in everything…
But I’ll see it none the less….

So is he the most successful Disney Channel show Alumni? or does Hannah Montana beat him out…in my books being in movies with giant robots, hot Megan Fox, Keanu and Harrison F’ing Ford wins the day.

  31. Gravatar

I’m game. I love government intrigue and considering that people paid to see Vantage Point, which wasn’t AT ALL what I expected, I think people will pay to see this as well. Shia is pretty popular right now regardless of what people say. As for his age…I think it fits because most groups like younger agents to train up.

  32. Gravatar

Count me in - I love the Caruso/LaBeouf combo.

  33. Gravatar

Looks cool, see LaBeouf has more balls than Keanu. =)

  34. Gravatar

Looks interesting, I would like to see a full trailer for this, so far I’m in

  35. Gravatar

A remake of Enemy of the State with a terrible actor… okay.

  36. Gravatar

Am I the only one who sees Shia not turning into the next Tom Hanks, but Harrison Ford? Think about it, he has participated in two massive franchises (Transformes and Indy), and he’s established himself as a go to guy for your average joe bad ass type that Harrison was in the Fugitive and Patriot Games. Plus Steven Spielberg loves the kid. Also which old director/new actor partnership is better. Leo/Scorsese or Shia/Spielberg? Jk, that’s not even a contest.

  37. Gravatar

Amazing, apparently you can figure out the plot of a movie from a teaser-trailer. I didn’t know there was such a large amount of readers with ESP on /film.

Seriously people, get a grip. The only thing you know is that he’s framed for working with some kind of terrorist cell and is receiving help/instructions via a phone.

Personally, I like Shia, and I hope he does well, however that does not mean I will be supporting and going to see ANYTHING he makes. This film however, has my attention so far. Not to mention it was filmed all around me here in the downtown Chicago area.

  38. Gravatar

Dave: While I loved The Departed, I actually think the Shia/Spielberg duo is way better. Leo just exudes this arrogant bunghole vibe which I hate, while Shia plays the average Joe great.

I’m hoping more Matrix twists in this movie. Like maybe the caller is (gasp) Jesus.

  39. Gravatar

    haha what?

DiCaprio is a great actor, the fact you even compared Shia to him makes me think you’re on some form of medication. Shia always plays the same guy in every movie. He also loves the word “No!” a bit too much.

  40. Gravatar

Hey, cut the kid a break, “NO” was in the script quite
a bit. He actually discarded the word 37 times in lines
where he could. And yes, he did it just for you.

  41. Gravatar

    haha.
    looks pretty good to me

  42. Gravatar

No, No no no nooo nnooo.

  43. Gravatar

i’m shocked that shia can play a tough guy role. it’s hard for child actors to make the transition to adult roles. shia still has 5-6 years to go before he loses that teen actor glow.

  44. Gravatar

Failing to watch the trailer yet again, I can only comment that it is a bad idea to take Robot Chicken sketches and turn them into movies.

Unless of course that movie is Eagle Eye!

  45. Gravatar

seriously i’d watch shia in anything, he has yet to star in a movie that was not seiously flawed but he’s still fun to watch.that trailer was pretty fucking awsome though and shia looked great

  46. Gravatar

o man this looks good i think this will be good for Shia if it is good

  47. Gravatar

Wow, I don’t get what’s the big deal on Shia being in the flick. He’s an okay actor who can get stuff across with messing up.

Anyway, this trailer did look like somewhat of a rip off of The Matrix and Enemy of the State, but from pics from the set and the plot, it could be very different….

  48. Gravatar

    WOAH

  49. Gravatar

I would undoubtedly have confidence with a DiCaprio/Scorsese film over a LaBeouf/Spielberg film each and every time. I wouldn’t even think twice about it.
However, I’d have a much harder time predicting the outcome between a De Niro/Scorsese film and a Hanks/Spielberg film.

  50. Gravatar

The Matrix…….I dont see the connection between these movies. Maybe there was some grass being smoked before reviewing this trailer?

  51. Gravatar

The phone call omnipresent directions and the being chased by the government thing….gotta remember the first Matrix…not the crappy crap that came after.

  52. Gravatar

    I lol’d at comparing DiCaprio/Scorsese with LeBeouf/Speilberg, didn’t realize that was actually a contest.

  53. Gravatar

This movie looks great. I cant wait to see it. Looks like it will be quite a challenge for Shia because this role is different then any of the others he has played before. I cant wait to see it in Theatres!! Shia and and Director of Disturbia make a great team. Disturbia is a classic and it looks as if Eagle Eye will be headed in the same direction. I LOVE YOU SHIA!!!
