I thought it was hilarious: not too cheesy, particularly good action sequences and it's well crafted. Very 'by the book' but still enjoyable. Anne Hathaway is HOT (particularly in a couple of scenes), Carrell pulls it off swimmingly and The Rock has his usual "I'm an actor, LOL" charm. I was really surprised by the film, actually, I was expecting to cringe at least once. I saw it last month at a Roadshow screening in Sydney. I'm a huge fan of Smart but why didn't they get Mel Brooks and Buck Henry to write this? The casting of Seigfried looks horrible. Thomas Lennon of "Reno 911" would have been perfect. Prob funnier than Carrell. Dwayne johnson as agent 23, Max's mentor? Maxwell Smart never needed a fricken mentor! And agent 23 was allways undercover in a footlocker or a mailbox. I thought those first three trailers were an awful representation of the film. The last two were much better. If I were making a decision purely based on the last two trailers, I'd say this looks entertaining and worth watching, based on the first three, I wouldn't even watch it on DVD.
