Obama chimp t-shirts. The Love Guru. These guys. “That f’ing hat.” How many words are wasted criticizing, analyzing and decrying today’s world, when all we really need is a “This sucks!” delivered by an AWOL Beavis and Butt-Head? Bring ‘em back. The brilliant creator of America’s foremost juvenile delinquents, Mike Judge, tells MTV that he’s finally considering a new Beavis and Butt-Head film, albeit a live-action one…

“The Three Stooges survived a lot of different guys with Shemp, Curly,” Judge reasoned. “I haven’t yet said, ‘OK, I wanna make a live-action “Beavis & Butt-Head” movie, and here’s the idea.’ But for some reason, I used to hate the idea for years, and now I think maybe there’s something there.”

Adding…

“I was thinking about having a Beavis and Butt-Head movie where they’re just 60-year-old winos. Just something different but with the same spirit of it, you know? A long time ago Johnny Depp had said to me-he really wanted to be Beavis-he said, if you ever do a live-action movie, he wanted to be Beavis. And he said he was doing [Don Juan DeMarco] with Marlon Brando and he said Marlon Brando used to imitate Butt-Head and he would imitate Beavis, so I guess I’m thinking Johnny Depp and Marlon Brando. [smiles]“

The interviewer at MTV also suggested Sean William Scott for Beavis, a name that’s been brought up in the past for a live-action version. And if you remember, before the so-so Beavis and Butt-Head Do America hit theaters, Adam Sandler was another. Thankfully that didn’t happen. My take is that Judge would need to cast younger.

Obviously Depp is the exception, but Sean William Scott is frankly old and too jockish for either character; the actors need to possess a fresher chemistry and more age appropriate look a la Clark and Michael or Jake and Amir (click either to watch/laff). Judge, whose next film is the comedy Extract with Jason Bateman, also mentioned that a B&B theme park ride has been discussed. Nachos, terrified fat Americans, barf and flies everywhere. That would not suck.

Discuss: Who would you choose to play Beavis and Butt-Head? Sexman and McLovin? Anyone? Anyone?

    That sounds amazing.

Brando as Butt-Head might be the best idea since Clint Eastwood as Dirty Harry

  3. Gravatar

can’t anyone come up with a fresh idea … besides BnB was funny but its time has past. Time to come up with original ideas people

    @ some_dude

But perhaps it takes an “unoriginal idea” like B&B coming back to offer the sharpest commentary on how unoriginal things have gotten.

  5. Gravatar

Johnny Depp had something to do with ‘The Island of Dr. Moreau’?

Strange, I don’t remember that happening at all.

By the way, this movie will not happen and even if it did, it still wouldn’t happen.

    Get me?

Stick with the animation. I don’t know how much novelty could wear off if Beavis and Butthead were live-action.

  7. Gravatar

Gummo was all the “live action” Beavis and Butt head I’ll ever need..

  8. Gravatar

Johnny Depp wasn’t in “The Island of Dr. Moreau.” I think the interviewer meant “Don Juan DeMarco.”

    @ ugh_doom

You are correct = corrected. Tell MTV. ;)

    @ The Dude

    Wow. I hafta agree.

I like the idea of Sexman. He may have to recruit his friend Le Shizzle….although I think they’re working on the Sexinator 5.

    @ Hunter

OK I will concede that the commentary would probably be funny but I am really tired of retreads … really tired

Besides live-action makes no sense to me. Do you really see live-action pulling off the physical tortures that are rampant in BnB in a funny way?

    Kick me in the jimmy!!

  12. Gravatar

Bush and Cheney for the roles. Didn’t you guys see that old internet photo?

  13. Gravatar

While Beavis & Butt-Head was hilarious (I am Cornholio!) I just can’t see a live action movie having anywhere near the same feel as the show. Like some_dude said we don’t need retreads to entertain us (pun intended).

    depp & Sam Rockwell

    @ Orange Cinema

Rockwell & Depp would be excellent.

    @ hunter

it would be great, and then i got to thinking - doesn’t it just feel like somebody should’ve put those two together a long time ago? like a dark comedy noir, not in the present, something from an older decade…i dunno, pretty much anything would work with them.

  18. Gravatar

Bad idea, live action b&b would be a disaster, he just needs to make another animated feature film, if you do this live action it will ruin it, who is the target audience? people who are in their early to mid 30’s who wouldn’t waste time seeing this turned into a pile of crap, if you did an animated feature, i’ll buy, other than that good luck making a multi-million dollar failure.

  19. Gravatar

They already made this film. It was called “Dumb and Dumber”.

    Get original Judge.

  20. Gravatar

I used to think a Fido Dido movie would be pretty rad.

  21. Gravatar

I would love to see Judge’s take on an older Beavis and Butthead so long as it is as good as Office Space or Idiocracy and not just some retread of the TV show which got really old really quick.

  22. Gravatar

I wonder… would they have interspersed music videos?

    /joke, obviously.

After the garbage that was Idiocracy (yes, garbage) I’m convinced that Judge should do as much of his projects himself as he can. That’s why I still have confidence in Extract. I actually don’t think a live action Beavis and Butthead would be a bad idea. It would be best not trying to match the cartoon’s look. It would just come out cheesy. It would need to be based more in reality, too.

I keep talking as if I’m making sense, but I know what I mean. That’s all that matters… except when I’m trying to convey it.

I can’t wait for the live-action King of the Hill 10 years from now.

  24. Gravatar

They REALLY need to make this guy Beavis..Bathe him, and bring him to the studio!

  25. Gravatar

Beavis and Butthead supposed to be teenagers. Johnny Depp would be too old for the part!

  26. Gravatar

I would probably say, Steve-O for Beavis, and either Chris Potius or Bam Margera as Butthead.

  27. Gravatar

Personally I think if cast right it would be an awesome movie. if they really wanted Depp to play Beavis they could do it like a Middle aged Beavis & butthead telling their emo bastard children about how much their teen years sucked. I cant think of a decent similarly aged actor for middle aged butthead… Maybe Jon Header with a little movie makeup even though hes fairly young… but he definitely has buttheads grill lol.
for the younger BnB hmm… not much selection of DORKY looking younger actors except for maybe Shia leboef & macaulay culkin lmfao…
all my own personal opinions here people. —-}{@

I have just lost a giant amount of respect for Mike Judge.
