Michael Moore

Paramount Vantage and Overture Films have announced that they are co-financing and co-producing a sequel to Fahrenheit 9/11 with documentary filmmaker Michael Moore. Overture will distribute the film domestically, while Vantage will handle international. The big news is that Moore is leaving The Weinstein Co, which distributed his last two films. The yet-to-be-titled documentary will be released in mid-2009. Depending on what source you read, Moore is either already working on the documentary or will begin production immediately following Cannes. The completed film could feasibly premiere at next year’s Festival, if it isn’t released earlier.

Details are being kept tightly under wraps but Vantage topper Nick Meyer claims the movie has “global appeal”. All we know is the sequel will pick up where Fahrenheit left off. And while you might expect an “I Told You So type story of how Bush ruined the country, insiders expect the film to be much more than that.

Moore has made three of the top five grossing documentaries of all time and the original Fahrenheit is the highest grossing documentary ever domestically, earning $119.1 million and another $100 million internationally.

This was announced literally 4 years ago. Way to get the big scoop!

Zap, the production of the film was announced today at Cannes, that Overture and Paramount Vantage would distribute next year.

michael moore may be fat, but he knows what hes talking about when it comes to how bad george bush sucks. farhenheit 9/11 was pretty entertaining, and its fun to show to republicans and see how they try to justify his actions

    stick it to em mike!

  5. Gravatar

I hope he kills Charlton Heston in the sequel

Whose he going to make films about once Bush leaves office? With a Democrat in the White House and controling congress, he won’t have anything to complian about right?

  7. Gravatar

Chump: Moore was making films way before Bush was in office, watch his earlier work Roger & Me and The Big One where he takes on big corporations and downsizing, or Bowling for Columbine where he takes on Gun Violence, or some of his best work was on a tv show called TV Nation, one episode involved him trying to get a ficus tree elected into local office.

Finally it will be revealed that it was the Illuminati, the Reptilian Aliens, AND the Jews that remote-controlled the planes into the towers.

Michael Moore is such a joke it isn’t even funny.

Moore never claimed it was anybody but Al Qaeda who committed 9/11. Why do you ascribe loony conspiracy theories to him? We all know it was Saudis (mainly) with the support of the Afghan government and Pakistanis who committed that crime. Moore never said any different. He did point out that Bush & Co remained fast friends with the Saudis, and tried to shelter Bin Laden’s family.

bob, if hes such a joke it isnt even funny, than how is he a joke? arent jokes inherently funny? please explain

Uh, what’s the point of the new movie? We already know Moore hates Bush. Does he not have anything better to do? Or is it easier to make more money from Bush bashing? Moore is increasingly becoming less and less relevant. We’ve had hundreds and hundreds of books, movies, etc. bashing Bush. It’s sooooo boring now, we ****ing get it already.

Do something of relevance, not more pandering. Talk about beating a dead horse.

    BLAH! THE CORPORATIONS!!!

    @ mike

if america learned the first time, there wouldnt be a need to “beat the dead horse” but we reelected him

  14. Gravatar

    @ big daddy

Given that your “dead horse” will be out of office long before this movie comes out, you get one long, slow handclap.

I still loved when he went up to politicians and the republican college clubs to sign up for the military.

sequel….why? moore practically lies in most of his documentries and thats a fact.

but no matter what, even audiences knows he stretching the truth and still back him up 100%.

  17. Gravatar

i just hate bush.. i’ll probably go see this movie for the same reason i will see oliver stones ‘w’

    GregoryV:
Where does he lie? Can you give me a complete list? All his claims are based on evidence.

Also, I want to see him do something about all the Homosexual hatred in America, something with the Phelps.

  19. Gravatar

Peter, that may be, but Moore announced this 4 years ago. The article is written like it is the first announcement of this project, which it is not.

  20. Gravatar

Moore should release the movie before the election. (There might not be an election. And if there is, it’s already planned. I.e. Obama wins Democratic nomination and McCain wins)
