Cool Stuff: No One Wants to Play Sega With Harrison Ford

Cool Stuff: No One Wants to Play Sega With Harrison FordBrandon Bird created this oil painting titled “No One Wants to Play Sega With Harrison Ford” on a 36″ x 12″ canvas for the I am 8-bit art show. You might be wondering how this is movie related, but with Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull on the horizon, it isn’t hard to see a connection between the new film and Ford with an uninterested new generation sitting in the corner. Will young kids see the next Indy film, or would they rather play GTA4 or see Iron Man for a third time? And hey, it’s just funny.

Bird is selling limited prints of this great paining. Available in five different colors: Aqua, Tropical, Red, Yellow, and Grey. Each signed & numbered 22″ x 12″ print is available for $70.

These gallery-quality giclee art prints feature a level of detail and color reproduction far superior to what can be seen on the web. Each print is made on acid-free Velvet Fine Art paper using archival inks estimated to last 80 years under proper care (it is recommended prints be matted and framed under UV-resistant glass).

The kids are playing Nintendo, the sega was more advanced than the Nintendo.. Maybe its saying that people as a whole still enjoy the classics and when something new trying be like the classic comes out the people will still flock to the classic.

    Peter,

I remember seeing this a while ago — long before any disconnect between Indy and today’s kids was being talked about. Brandon Bird just takes pop culture figures and inserts them into bizarre scenarios… like Bea Arthur wrestling raptors.

Looks half done. Bird should quit being lazy and finish the background.

And yeah, those kids are playing an old nes, which came out at the same time as the sega system. last I checked, GTA 4 wasn’t available on that console…..

this blog entry seems like a severe & unneeded stretch, kinda like the 36″ length of this guy’s painting.

Thanks for the linkage to Bird. Seems like a fun dude, very interesting (and hilarious!) art. It’s worth it to look through the site and find stuff like Bea and the raptors as KeoNato mentioned.

This picture is saying that kids don’t know shit. And Harrison Ford will be upstairs porking your mom while you play an italian plumber chasing mushroom men into sewer pipes.

I really don’t understand this whole “today’s kids will be uninterested in seeing Indiana Jones type movies” My little brother is 13 and he was glued to the TV this weekend watching all 3 of them while they’ve been being replayed. SIre video games are big now but there was other stuff to distract us when we were younger…

    @ Captain Awesome

So Harrison Ford is a necrophiliac? Weird I didn’t know he and I had that in common, I mean, wait, what. What were we talking about? Oh yeah, the corn flakes are on top of the fridge.
