Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

Paramount has released yet another new movie trailer for Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Before you get too excited, I must warn you that this trailer is pretty similar to the last one. It actually took my friend Neil from FSR to point out that it was in fact new. And it even took a few plays to spot the differences. One of the shots that is worth noting involves a plane flying over the Nazca Lines in Peru (seen above).

[potential spoiler speculation] According to wikipedia, the Nazca Lines are a series of geoglyphs located in the Nazca Desert. They are believed to have been created by the Nazca culture between 200 BC and AD 700. There are hundreds of individual figures, ranging in complexity from simple lines to stylized hummingbirds, spiders, monkeys, fishes, sharks, llamas and lizards, said to be visible only from the sky. Some have speculated that the Nazca Lines may be evidence of early contact between humans and aliens. CHUD reported a while back that the new film takes cues from Erich von Daniken’s Chariots of the Gods. So how does this fit into the Crystal Skull storyline? We’ll have to wait and see. [end spoiler speculation]

You can watch the new trailer in High Definition on Apple.com. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull hits theaters on May 22nd 2008.

Hmmm, interesting speculation. It seems his book has inspired many such tales. A landing strip for the “others”…well maybe they’ll throw in a god or alien or two just to liven things up :P

Either way it still looks like an entertaining action adventure if nothing else.

Hell yes. I knew the Nazca lines were going to play into this, I’ve been saying it ever since I heard it was set in south America and had a story involving “aliens”. I’ve always been fascinated by those things. This is a good thing IMO - and the whole “chariots of the gods” mythology is a good fit for Indy. I’m holding out hope despite some of the negative buzz that is starting to show up.

    The world has many heroes…

    But there is only one…

I thought that they were going to finish that statement. It was funny when I realized that they weren’t. Anywho, movie looks great. I hope that the negative reviews are wrong.
