Images Removed at Request from Disney

/Film Reader Enock C sent over these new photos from WALL-E yesterday. I’m not sure where they exactly originated from. They appear to be high resolution screen-captures.

Disney’s programable toy robot Ultimate WALL-E was shown off at the Maker Faire this weekend. It will feature 10 motors for realistic movement, a “variety of sensors” to allow for voice activation, navigation, and detection of obstacles, among other capabilities. There is a touch pad on the remote control to add for even more control of the unit. Manufactured by Thinkway, the Ultimate WALL-E will retail for $189.99 and will be available later this summer. Our friends at the pixar blog have sent over video footage of the programable robot in action. Watch the video after the jump.

I seriously can’t handle that white robot. I WAS totally excited for this movie before the trailer came with the white robot. Now I am pretty sure I’m gonna skip it.

Why is that video so dark? It’s very annoying. Wall-E looks fake. I’m sure it’s not, but it looks CG.

Somebody needs to make a non-commercial, totally autonomous version of this bot. If the toymakers can create a product line with 10 motors for $190/each, imagine what an engineer could do with, say, a grand. A hundred motors, a dozen sensors and an autonomous, interactive AI, perhaps? Maybe even some functioning, extendable appendages? If I could build such a thing I’d just have it roaming around my house and refilling the cat’s food bowl.

I am really excited for this to come out. I have just seen the movie today, and now I am in love with the practical and adorable robot, Wall-e. I thought the movie was awesome, but now there is a REAL robot? Wow. I am definately going to get one. No doubt about it.
