Since the new trailer for The Dark Knight went live earlier this morning, A lot of fans have been analyzing the footage frame by frame for hidden clues (however, no one has found Waldo yet). Most people picked up on the scene that I mentioned in the earlier trailer posting where Harvey Dent is behind held to the floor in a puddle of what appears to be a gasoline type substance (as seen below). Many people agree with my conclusion that this is most definitely how Dent becomes Two-Face. A much different set-up from the traditional Joker/Acid story-line from the comic book series.
/Film readers Glenn D and Mike M point out that Two Face is actually shown briefly on screen, but you can’t see much of scarred side of his face.
Another /Film Reader, Vignir, points out that someone who looks kind of like Scarecrow from Batman Begin can be seen briefly in the trailer, inside the car that Batman jumps on top of. Click on the image to enlarge! Is it the Scarecrow or just one of Joker’s goons?

awesome! im always excited to see breakdowns like this, because i didn’t catch the two face or scarecrow shots. now i did see a major spoiler that i don’t wanna ruin, so i’ll say it’s a major character getting tossed off a roof. around 1:56. i could be wrong with how i interpreted it, but if i’m right i think it’s an excellent direction to go.
in the comics isn’t dent scarred during a trail by a gangster on the witness stand - one of the very few details batman forever got right? i could be wrong, but i’ll surf through my books to see what i can find. if anyone knows the specific issue could they please post it - thanks guys.

Dent’s face reflected in the acid (?) is a nice touch on duality.
Also, there’s something really nasty going on just under his nose on the other side of the face. Pause it and go frame-by-frame. Something tells me his face is going to be hideous.

I wouldn’t assume gasoline burns Dent’s face. It is a liquid from a 55 gallon barrel and we don’t know who tips it over. I wouldn’t count Joker out of the transformation.

I don’t think the shot of Rachel being tossed off the roof is exactly a hidden spoiler. It’s a pretty clear scene meant to be caught by the viewers. I’m guessing they wanted us to see that because now we’re all wondering: will she fall to her death or will Batman save her?
Also, I’m wondering if the Harvey Dent in gas scene is perhaps a red herring? Like the Rachel scene, it’s pretty prominent and hard to miss. Are they getting in audiences by showing us how he becomes Two-Face or are they confusing us so we’ll still be surprised how & when it actually happens in the movie?
Either way, this trailer did nothing for me. Why? Because I’m already so pumped for this movie you couldn’t possibly excite me more. Can’t wait for July 18!!!!

It’s a trailer. Just because one thing follows another doesn’t mean it’s actually connected in the movie. I’m guessing the NO! Harvey thing is from maybe watching his family being brutalized by criminals , etc etc etc.

Actually what happens is The Emperor is pissed off and wants Luke to join the Dark Side. So Mr. Blonde kidnaps a cop and cuts off his ear in an effort to display control and power. But then Carlton accidentally takes some of Wills speed that he found in his locker and Uncle Phil in usualy Phil fashion, blows his top.
To resolve the issue Riggs and Murtaugh realize they are both too old for this shit and decide to travel into space with Clint Eastwood.

I’ve heard rumblings that Dent’s being shoved down into some bizarre type of acid thats gets activated by electrical charges. Hence him being alright with his face shoved down in it, and the electrical wire jammed into the spout of the barrel.

But I must say, this is a film site. I gave my opinion, albeit a bit too quickly, but nonetheless, it’s there. I’ve never been called an internet tough guy before, but it pissed me off. I’ll give you props on that. You’ve posted many comments that i’ve thought have been insightful if not enlightening, and while i’ve only been commenting since a couple months ago, Orange Cinema was an indescript profile that I believed in. What I love about this movie is that the trailers are more than the average movie trailers. These trailers are serious works of genius. Nolan and Co. definitely know what they are doing, and they are choosing to include all of the right amounts of footage to not only pique our interest, but to really show how amazing this film is going to be. These movie trailers do not show simply the characters and someone cool scenes, these trailers tell a story that is a reflection of the larger one. I would pay the price of a movie ticket just to see these in theaters. This is going to be the best movie of the summer, and of the year. Every character is perfectly cast and produces a dynamite performance (from what we have seen). Nolan doesn’t dumb anything down, which is something that is rare in Hollywood, especially in comic book movies. I cannot wait!

I think the two surfaces are the same in the shots with the gas and Dent. The gas is that orangy color that Dent is face-down on, and you can tell that Dent’s face is touching some sort of liquid. I am guessing that that is how he gets scarred, but we obviously won’t know until the film comes out.

When casting and the call sheet for actors was announced, the Scarcrow was a part of the cast, so that would definately be a picture of the Scarecow.

We finally get to see the Scarecrow. And for all of you that just seem to jump to conclusions, this is a trailer. No scene is ever in order and the fact that this is Dark Knight is even more confusing. For all we know, this whole trailer can probably be the last 15 min. of the film. There might just even be a montage in the film which consists of all these great scenes and before we know it, the film is over whith Batman hovering off into the streets in Hong Kong.

For those doubting that it’s the Scarecrow in that shot….(spoilers, I guess?)….I’m 99.99% sure it’s him. I was there the night that scene was shot, saw Murphy in person walking to/from set, and heard crew referring to the white van as “Scarecrow’s van” multiple times. The shot where Batman lands on the van was actually really cool to see. PAs kept making sure that no one was in position to see into the garage opening, but what they didn’t realize was that the building across the street was entirely glass, so you could just see the reflection. ‘Twas awesome.
Oh, and to the Bromance comment……yeah, I think I’m the first girl commenting on this thread, wtf?

Besides the introduction to Two-face, Rachel getting pushed off the penthouse building and the scare crow siting, which by the way can be backed by people who saw them filming it and spotting the scarecrow, I can already spot a mistake in the film!
If you watch the part where the Joker is shooting at Batman saying “come on..” you can see on one of the buildings it clearly says “Sweet Home Chicago”. Im surprised they did not already pick this up.

I have analyzed the trailers, the comics and the first movie and it seems that the dark knight will center on the joker and by the end of the movie there will be the scene where Harvey Kent, actually its Dent now, gets burned, so it sets the scene for the 3rd movie, in what C.Nolan calls the trilogy. I would be surprised if in the 3rd movie he wouldnt be tempted to include or introduce another villain like “hiedra venenosa” i think its called poisionous something, i dont know in english very well..
I think C. Nolan got it all right on the batmans, C. Bale does a superb job, better than the previous batmans, like Keaton, the blonde guy from the Saint, etc..
Another thought that I have is that probably, Heath Hedger will get nominated for his performance through an Oscar, probably might win, postmous of course, but from what I have read and anlyzed he could well become the toughest villains so far, of course, with the exception of Hannibal Lecter (Hopkins).

someone mentioned above, how will Dent change to Two Face psychologically, as in what pushes him over the edge? I think Rachel might actually die (don’t know whether it’s from Joker throwing her off building or not though), because it seems in the trailer it sets up a relationship between her and Dent. And I read in some interview with that Eckart (sp?) where he said that Two Face has a much more harsher/stronger sense of justice than Batman after he “loses his fiance.” perhaps she is killed by Joker, then Dent goes after him himself and in their fight/confrontation, Joker turns him into Two Face. just my hunch…
