Since the new trailer for The Dark Knight went live earlier this morning, A lot of fans have been analyzing the footage frame by frame for hidden clues (however, no one has found Waldo yet). Most people picked up on the scene that I mentioned in the earlier trailer posting where Harvey Dent is behind held to the floor in a puddle of what appears to be a gasoline type substance (as seen below). Many people agree with my conclusion that this is most definitely how Dent becomes Two-Face. A much different set-up from the traditional Joker/Acid story-line from the comic book series.

Two Face Origin in the Dark Knight

/Film readers Glenn D and Mike M point out that Two Face is actually shown briefly on screen, but you can’t see much of scarred side of his face.

Two Face with a gun

Another /Film Reader, Vignir, points out that someone who looks kind of like Scarecrow from Batman Begin can be seen briefly in the trailer, inside the car that Batman jumps on top of. Click on the image to enlarge! Is it the Scarecrow or just one of Joker’s goons?

    lol, now that I've seen the movie most of you just sound like know-it-all dipshit's :)

    Let’s see, Dent on the floor with gasoline on his face. Then they light it and there you have Two Face.
    Really, it’s too easy, isn’t it? I think they spare him, then he get’s up, lights up a sigarette to relieve some stress (forgetting he’s still damped with gas) and catches fire: much better.
    Joker dumps Rachel and Batman dives to save her. He misses the catch and she ends up like Joker in the first Batman. Dent blames Batman.
    Too easy. Try this: Batman doesn’t even bother to jump, he doesn’t like her anymore. He likes The Joker. They dance on the rooftop.
    Scarecrow in the car, Batman jumps on it: end of Scarecrow.
    Easy. But fine.

    Just joking, you shouldn’t be so serious…

    Ps-I can’t wait to watch this film, it’ll be great.

    hey joshmayhood: i think that (if the trailer is right) when rachel is thrown off the building, she dies, then harvey blames his best friend mr. batman. simple theory
  • vick91
    it is the scarecrow he's supposed to be in the movie =]
    this is awesome only one more week before we find out everything
  • Joey
    That rachel being thrown off isnt a spoiler! in a different trailer the jokers hold ing her and batman says,"Let her go!" and then the joker says,"Bad choice of words". then she falls and Batman dives after her.
  • bmillion
    someone mentioned above, how will Dent change to Two Face psychologically, as in what pushes him over the edge? I think Rachel might actually die (don't know whether it's from Joker throwing her off building or not though), because it seems in the trailer it sets up a relationship between her and Dent. And I read in some interview with that Eckart (sp?) where he said that Two Face has a much more harsher/stronger sense of justice than Batman after he "loses his fiance." perhaps she is killed by Joker, then Dent goes after him himself and in their fight/confrontation, Joker turns him into Two Face. just my hunch...

    I am just glad the Scarecrow is in it. He is my favorite character!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I'm pretty sure thats Scarecrow. Oh man....this movie is going to be made of win.

    Has anyone heard of a Penguin cameo?

    @ Frankie

    I'm not trying to attack you, but, no offense, none of your insight is new. We all know that Dent will go through a transfiguration at the end, setting the franchise up for a second sequel. Also, there is buzz already for Ledger to receive a nomination. Lastly, Nolan is a genius! That is simply understood.

    Hi,
    I have analyzed the trailers, the comics and the first movie and it seems that the dark knight will center on the joker and by the end of the movie there will be the scene where Harvey Kent, actually its Dent now, gets burned, so it sets the scene for the 3rd movie, in what C.Nolan calls the trilogy. I would be surprised if in the 3rd movie he wouldnt be tempted to include or introduce another villain like "hiedra venenosa" i think its called poisionous something, i dont know in english very well..
    I think C. Nolan got it all right on the batmans, C. Bale does a superb job, better than the previous batmans, like Keaton, the blonde guy from the Saint, etc..
    Another thought that I have is that probably, Heath Hedger will get nominated for his performance through an Oscar, probably might win, postmous of course, but from what I have read and anlyzed he could well become the toughest villains so far, of course, with the exception of Hannibal Lecter (Hopkins).

    ....For your consideration.....too soon?

    SCARECROW IS IN THE MOVIE.

    There are production shots on the web that show him on set.

    There is a facebook group for TDK also, and they are all posted there.

    Cheers.
  • Art Good
    I'm guessing the stuff in the tank is gasoline, and they light it on fire and it burns his face and suit.
  • Jetpackman89
    Besides the introduction to Two-face, Rachel getting pushed off the penthouse building and the scare crow siting, which by the way can be backed by people who saw them filming it and spotting the scarecrow, I can already spot a mistake in the film!
    If you watch the part where the Joker is shooting at Batman saying "come on.." you can see on one of the buildings it clearly says "Sweet Home Chicago". Im surprised they did not already pick this up.
  • Eliza
    For those doubting that it's the Scarecrow in that shot....(spoilers, I guess?)....I'm 99.99% sure it's him. I was there the night that scene was shot, saw Murphy in person walking to/from set, and heard crew referring to the white van as "Scarecrow's van" multiple times. The shot where Batman lands on the van was actually really cool to see. PAs kept making sure that no one was in position to see into the garage opening, but what they didn't realize was that the building across the street was entirely glass, so you could just see the reflection. 'Twas awesome.

    Oh, and to the Bromance comment......yeah, I think I'm the first girl commenting on this thread, wtf?
  • Floppy
    I thought Nolan mentioned not giving Two-Face the 50/50 clothes treatment like Batman Forever did. Or am I mistaken?
  • charles
    In the photo above Harvey has become Two-face. If you notice both sides of his jacket aren't the same color.
  • joshmayhood
    Bromance. It's what I have with all of you.
  • Walrus
    We finally get to see the Scarecrow. And for all of you that just seem to jump to conclusions, this is a trailer. No scene is ever in order and the fact that this is Dark Knight is even more confusing. For all we know, this whole trailer can probably be the last 15 min. of the film. There might just even be a montage in the film which consists of all these great scenes and before we know it, the film is over whith Batman hovering off into the streets in Hong Kong.
  • Captain Awesome
    You guys know how to suck the "cool" out of an awesome trailer.
  • dan
    rofl
  • Bruce Wayne
    Josh, Don't ever use the word "Bromance" again.
  • Robbybobby
    When casting and the call sheet for actors was announced, the Scarcrow was a part of the cast, so that would definately be a picture of the Scarecow.
  • Vignir
    @Kode: Why do you say the Scarecrow picture a fake? I just changed the brightness and contrast.
  • zinkywinks
    i like the little piece of dent's 2 face suit... looks pretty wild

    Is the "night is darkest before the dawn" a title pun?

    @Orange Cinema

    Thanks, dude. That just irked me, especially since while i've been lurking movie websites for years, i've decided to start posting...and i've seen that "internet tough guy" thing thrown around. And I wasn't kidding when I said i've followed your comments. I actually really have. You're smart. A formidable opponent.......sounds like a movie.

    Seriously, I love how you got to the heart of it: The Clown Prince. He rules, and I am in love with Ledger's Joker. Sooooooooooo insane.

    Scarecrow and Rachel Dawes: I think the possibilities of the Joker working with the Scarecrow are limitless. One crazy dude meeting an extremely crazy dude....Batman would have his hands full. This is the beginning of a Bromance, Orange Cinema.
  • orange cinema
    i think if it was acid, there would be some kind of reaction happening to his face.
  • Billy
    I knew there was a Two-Face scene but none of my friends wanted to believe me. I should have posted this when I went on the viral hunt. Dammit, know the stupid slashfilm reader took my credit! WHY???!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ALL HAIL THE DARK KNIGHT! SCREW IRON MAN AND HANCOCK!!! DC OWNS!!

    Listen to the theme at :52.
  • Jake Vitanza
    @Dan

    I think the two surfaces are the same in the shots with the gas and Dent. The gas is that orangy color that Dent is face-down on, and you can tell that Dent's face is touching some sort of liquid. I am guessing that that is how he gets scarred, but we obviously won't know until the film comes out.
  • orange cinema
    we're not enemies, it's taken back, no sparring necessary, besides - these pages belong to his royal majesty: our clown prince of crime.

    any ideas on how the scarecrow & mr j will interact?
  • joshmayhood
    @Jake Vitanza

    I feel ya. Someone on AICN said it was an "ordinary" trailer. Seriously. If this were ordinary, I would probably go to the movies more than 4 times a year.
  • Jake Vitanza
    What I love about this movie is that the trailers are more than the average movie trailers. These trailers are serious works of genius. Nolan and Co. definitely know what they are doing, and they are choosing to include all of the right amounts of footage to not only pique our interest, but to really show how amazing this film is going to be. These movie trailers do not show simply the characters and someone cool scenes, these trailers tell a story that is a reflection of the larger one. I would pay the price of a movie ticket just to see these in theaters. This is going to be the best movie of the summer, and of the year. Every character is perfectly cast and produces a dynamite performance (from what we have seen). Nolan doesn't dumb anything down, which is something that is rare in Hollywood, especially in comic book movies. I cannot wait!
  • joshmayhood
    Hey, cheers to that my man.

    But I must say, this is a film site. I gave my opinion, albeit a bit too quickly, but nonetheless, it's there. I've never been called an internet tough guy before, but it pissed me off. I'll give you props on that. You've posted many comments that i've thought have been insightful if not enlightening, and while i've only been commenting since a couple months ago, Orange Cinema was an indescript profile that I believed in. Sounds like we're enemies now though. Take back the "internet tough guy" remark, it drives me insane. I'll give you all of my contact info, if you give me yours, then we can have a sparring match. Something about being called an internet tough guy sets me off.
  • orange cinema
    yea but I'm not gonna clutter up a cool page/site w this nonsense. Cheers.
  • Kode
    Actually, if you look at that “scarecrow” scene closer, its actually fake.
  • joshmayhood
    Are you referring to me?
  • Cool images!
    Thanks for the insight!

    I also like the recent article on LA TIMES where Aaron Eckhart talks about his character Harvey Dent/Two-Face

    you can read the full stuff via this link:

    Ha, Internet tough guy. Cute.
  • joshmayhood
    @Max

    Good point.

    You know, the thing that i've been wondereing about is what makes Dent become Two Face PSYCHOLOGICALLY. I mean, he seems pretty stable from the trailers, and a definite do-gooder. But besides the accident, something has to make him go insane/schizo. Should be interesting.
  • Max
    I seriously cannot fathom why you'd rule out acid just because it's being poured out of a drum. That's jumping to conclusions.
  • joshmayhood
    @dan

    Actually, been re-watching and looking at still photos. You're wrong.

    The floor when Dent's face is on it looks like hard wood because of the fluid on it.
  • joshmayhood
    @dan

    Good call on the flooring. I didn't notice that. I think you may be right.
