/Film reader S. McGruff informs us that Michael Bay will be filming sequences for Transformers 2 at the University of Pennsylvania:
I’ve been reading for a couple months and love the site. Not sure if this is newsworthy but you can decide. I’m a student at the University of Pennsylvania and a few of my friends involved in student government told me that Transformers 2 will be shooting on campus in one of the nicer fraternities this summer. Im guessing these scenes will involve Shia/Jonah at college. Michael Bay was also seen on campus a few weeks back, so I guess that sort of confirms that the film will be partially shot here. Thought you might like to know.
Chances are that UPENN will be filling in for Princeton, the school Shia LaBeouf’s character Sam Witwicky’s is rumored to be attending.

Nah, I say it’s a trick. They are sending a film crew there just to hang out as a distraction for the REAL film location.

Why are there rumors that the movie is set at Princeton?
It’s one thing if they are just using the fraternity house and interiors, but still… why wouldn’t they just say it’s at Penn, if they’re filming it at Penn?

Last i heard they are shooting in Philly for about 3.5 weeks in June, then moving to Bethlehem PA for a while. I forget the other locations, but it sounded like they had at least 4 or 5 on the East Coast (including DC and/or Baltimore).
I am under the impression that the Philly shooting is not limited to UPenn. They were seen scouting a few other places too.

If he’s not Ivy League material, why are they even bothering to shoot at UPenn?
As an alumnus, I’m just glad they are doing something other than using Franklin Field in a movie for once. It’ll be nice to see more of the campus on the big screen.

Why is everyone stressing over Shia not being able to play this part? The first Transformers was AMAZING and I know for a fact the second will be as well. He is an amazing actor! They are filming it in PA!! Thats awesome!! I cant wait to see it! I live not to far from Penn University! Hopefully I will get to check it out! I’m so excited now! Maybe I will even get to see Shia!!

Haha, just because they may be filming at one school doesn’t mean it will actually be that school in the film. Think about it.

i was there today. he was at the quad. we waited for 3 hours just for him to run away like a douche bag. im so disappointed.

I don’t know why, but they are shooting at Princeton right now. Just saw them film a scene with a couple of cars on a major street on-campus.
