The Lovely Bones Delayed?

The Lovely Bones

Yesterday word leaked onto the interwebs that Peter Jackson and one of his art directors have been supposedly duking it out over the depiction of heaven in The Lovely Bones. The film tells the story of a 14-year-old girl, raped, murdered, and dismembered by a neighbor, who watches from a personalized heaven as her family and friends deal with their grief. So it’s obviously a huge portion of the film. Now our friends at BadandUgly are reporting that the film has been pushed back from it’s announced March 13th release date until a FALL 2009 TBA slot. It looks like the situation might be actually worse than we first believed.

Maybe it's just me...but seeing an overly dramatic story about a rape victim is not my idea of a good time.

    You said rape twice?

    I like rape.

It's a beautiful, dramatic story. And I realize depicting heaven might be controversial and all, but why not follow the originial novel's depiction?
