It all comes down to this new trailer for The Incredible Hulk, with the Marvel reboot’s release on June 13th fast approaching and its positioning as the caboose of summer superhero flicks pretty much a lock as far as expectations and buzz go. This second trailer is far more well-rounded than the first in my opinion, which mounted everything on the Hulk’s rather predictable-looking end battle with Abomination. Moreover, there is a nice amount of fresh and promising footage with the Hulk and with Edward Norton here, the latter of which has an agreeably slick general blockbuster Bourne-like feel to it.
We also get more Liv Tyler in various states of pouting duress and awe, which somehow makes it more interesting. And the Hulk’s new intro satisfactorily plays up the character’s proportion to his surroundings and is well-lit, which nicely contrasts with the dimness and grimness of trailers The Dark Knight and Hellboy 2. Overthinking much? Mebbs. However, are shots of the Hulk smashing cars and helicopters enough to push its grosses past Ang Lee’s flick? And I still can’t decide whether the Hulk still looks “fake” as so many fanboys like to shake their fists to.
You can also watch the trailer in High Definition on Apple.com. The Incredible Hulk hits theaters on June 13th.
Discuss: What are your impressions of the new trailer for The Incredible Hulk? Does the film still rank last in your anticipation for this summer’s comic book flicks after viewing this? Might it be a hit after all is said and done?

It was funny i saw the video uploaded when i was working today it was a nice treat.
April 30th, 2008 at 1:03 pm
this trailer is way better than the last one, it might be good but still wary obviously. Ive never really been a fan of cgi heavy movies
April 30th, 2008 at 1:11 pm
that looks…incredible. i wish this was the first thing we saw of the film, the teaser was far less polished. and the scale of this thing looks suitably impressive.
April 30th, 2008 at 1:14 pm
I love CGI heavy movies…Heck..I don’t even like having human voice actors. Gimme a completely CGI movie, with digitally synthesized voices and written by SkyNet and I’ll plunk down my twelve bucks to see it
April 30th, 2008 at 1:16 pm
Looks better than the first.Might be a surprise hit and box bigger than expected.
April 30th, 2008 at 1:19 pm
I liked the new trailer, and I also liked the last touch, the TV series music melody, did anyone notice or I’m the only one old enough to remember??
April 30th, 2008 at 1:23 pm
Holy craptastic that stunk. After this, the stupid Hulk will be gone from Hollywood forever. Didn’t they learn their lesson the first time?
April 30th, 2008 at 1:24 pm
Seriously!!?!?
How “REAL” can you make a 12 foot green monster look?
April 30th, 2008 at 1:25 pm
After seeing that trailer, the only way you could get me in to see that film is the promise of a Liv Tyler wet-tshirt scene.
April 30th, 2008 at 1:25 pm
I got more enjoyment out of watching the camera phone bootleg of the new Dark Knight trailer, than that. I think this is or Speed Racer is going to be the biggest disapointment of the summer.
April 30th, 2008 at 1:25 pm
Sooooooo anyways, moving back to The Dark Knight…..LOL
April 30th, 2008 at 1:26 pm
I really like that. Can’t wait.
April 30th, 2008 at 1:26 pm
I liked the trailer until I heard the music from the TV show. They’re trying to make it a remake of the TV show, rather than making it an adaptation of the source materials and that’s bothering me.
April 30th, 2008 at 1:28 pm
That is the little interlude at the start right.
April 30th, 2008 at 1:30 pm
I like this one.
April 30th, 2008 at 1:32 pm
that gets me a lot more stoked than the last one did. Oh and the tiny snippet of the old school theme song is an interesting nod at the end. But yeah I like that trailer more and I think people will dig it more with the amount of action that’s added, plus showing the conflict between Banner and Blonsky.
April 30th, 2008 at 1:34 pm
WOW….the trailers so much better than the previous, cant wait to see it on DVD.
April 30th, 2008 at 1:35 pm
i think its only fair that i admit i have been one of the people saying this will be a big YAWN, however…that trailer has changed my mind. This new trailer makes it look very very cool, and i will now go out of my way to see it, whereas before, i was only going to check it out, whenever. very nice mr norton, very nice!
April 30th, 2008 at 1:39 pm
GODDAMMIT! Why did this have to look somewhat cool now!?
Ugh, now i’m a band waggon jumper =(
April 30th, 2008 at 1:40 pm
I’m still not exactly sold on this one, but I also can’t really understand the level of “hate” this movie seems to be generating on-line. I say “on-line” because out in the real world (if anyone even knows about it) the interest seems to be the opposite. I hold to my original opinion, if this movie is good and entertaining it’ll do decent business, if not, then it will suck ass. That should be a duh opinion, obviously, but I think word-of-mouth is going to make or break this one. Especially since I didn’t see one giant robot in the trailer.
April 30th, 2008 at 1:42 pm
This one is a lot better. I think this movie could work (at the box office) if it were released later in summer when things aren’t so jam packed. But that should have happened well before now…
That said, it’s still on the second tier of movies I’m seeing this summer. Sorry Edward.
Ya think this might have worked better if they marketed this as a Mysterious/Action type film (see Cloverfield), kept it under some wraps that this was a Hulk movie, made us wonder what the crap was going on, then Bam! The end of the First full trailer showed us an amazing Hulk kicking butt?
This movie since it’s coming so soon after the last Hulk, it feels like this is a do over and people are skeptical. I know I am. But if they didn’t tell us, worked up some mystery hype, then Bam! a big bold confident Hulk appears. It would have worked better for me.
April 30th, 2008 at 1:42 pm
ok wait, Nortan has some damn hairy armpits.
April 30th, 2008 at 2:05 pm
looks awesome
April 30th, 2008 at 2:05 pm
Waiting for DVD.
April 30th, 2008 at 2:07 pm
God damn “enter” button…
But yeah this trailer hasn’t changed anything. The CG in this movie is horrible. When it should be the main focal point. It’s about giant CG muscular guys right?
The special effects just look really bad. Very plastic and videogame-like.
April 30th, 2008 at 2:11 pm
Can’t wait to see it.
April 30th, 2008 at 2:13 pm
When he’s making love to betty, he should hulk out. THAT would be worth watching
April 30th, 2008 at 2:14 pm
I gotta say personally I love the style and look of the Hulk. I do agree that he’s not green enough but then again look at Mr. Jolly Green Giant in Ang Lee’s version. They should have just done the grey version of him but I love the look. Boohoo to those that wanted to see CG Ed Norton in super steroid buff mode.
April 30th, 2008 at 2:35 pm
The CGI still looks terrible. Pass.
April 30th, 2008 at 2:37 pm
*Slaps some High-Fives to the Nay-Sayers* So, guess I still have my Shit goggles on, cause’ that was a crap fest. Sorry, but this is not winning me over. I guess I am ruined on this flick. I’ll just sneak out and let the “that was better…” people have their time with casket.
April 30th, 2008 at 2:43 pm
Also, why do people keep calling this a do-over or some redo when they use the same characters Ang lee casted? Just that now we have “different’ actors playing Ang Lee’s characters. Minus Roth as the Abomination.
For a redo they sure did try to cast people who looked as close to Sam Elliot and Jennifer Connolly as possible. They need to push Hulk’s design in film. He still looks too “safe” in terms of design and look.
Give him more of a scarier, Frankenstein-esque, feel. Instead of making him look like an overly-muscular, green, George Lopez.
April 30th, 2008 at 2:54 pm
I hope Hulk does his “white people think tomatos and onions are spicy” salsa routine in the movie. I loved Hulk in Sharkboy and Lavagirl. Maybe he’ll do some voice work as a Chihuaha someday.
April 30th, 2008 at 3:02 pm
I liked it but the movie doesn’t scream, “Must see.”
April 30th, 2008 at 3:08 pm
I really wonder what would have happened if ILM did this movie again. Iron Man’s effects look a million times better. That being said I think people should lighten up on this movie. I know Dark Knight is going to be a much better “film”, I think this “movie” is going to deliver a boat load of awesome. I mean cmon that helicopter crap was sweet.
April 30th, 2008 at 3:12 pm
I am more excited than before, I way dug that trailer.
And I can’t imagine the CGI bothering anyone. it looks just fine. Even if it didn’t, I watch BSG and that ain’t perfect CGI. Is the story worth watching? And it looks like a yes.
April 30th, 2008 at 3:14 pm
Oh yeah I forgot something! Like David said CGI doesnt really affect how good a movie is for me. Look at I Am Legend easily some of the worst effects for a big budget movie like that in a loooong time and that movie still was great and made a lot of bank. But than again it also had Will Smith.
April 30th, 2008 at 3:18 pm
Ben,
Just because a film makes a lot of money doesn’t allow it to be put out of critcisms reach, or makes it good for that matter. For what it’s worth I thought I Am Legend had the worst CG found in a big budget film, next to the Spider-Man films and the story sucked as badly as I, Robot.
I’m impressed that people will give the CG in this a pass when it rides on just that, the special effects.
Obviously this film was created in regards to people disliking the first films more “heady” emotional approach. So whats left? The special effects and of course they will be put under the microscope by some since they plan to basically created an all out-brawl film with this one.
April 30th, 2008 at 3:35 pm
Color me officially interested in this project now. Great trailer; much better than the first.
April 30th, 2008 at 3:42 pm
OMG that looks awesome! I was down after the teaser but this trailer has got me way up hyped! Hard core action, baby, that’s what I want to see.
April 30th, 2008 at 3:48 pm
As a comic book artist, I liked the teaser trailer and I like this new one. It keeps the spirit of both the comics (which benefits the comics fans) and the old 70s t.v. series (which should benefit the general public who do not read the comics).
As for the c.g.i.?
Look, I know some are disappointed by the c.g.i. not looking as realistic as it could, but that’s partly the point of movies like this. They do a movie, see what works, what doesn’t, and do better next time. I thought the Hulk in the ‘03 Ang Lee version looked too goofy and made out of c.g.i. Playdo! This version looks much better and even though it could be better, I’m not gonna’ look a gift horse in the mouth in regard to this flick.
HULK SMASH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
April 30th, 2008 at 3:49 pm
What action? It looks like there will be a few 3 minute “hulk outs” then Banner runs off and is all emo for 20 minutes. Rinse and repeat until the rock-em-sock-em-brute climax battle, dropping in a hint to pickup in the sequel.
April 30th, 2008 at 3:51 pm
Holy crap! Now I’m really excited about this movie!
April 30th, 2008 at 4:05 pm
I rather liked the trailer and hope it translates into
a good movie.
April 30th, 2008 at 4:06 pm
Very nice. Nice nod with the TV tunes at the end.
April 30th, 2008 at 4:36 pm
It looks great. My only question is this. If the government can produce Abomination, why do they need the Hulk?
April 30th, 2008 at 4:38 pm
Im more excited about Speed Racer than of this. At least in Speed Racer te CGI is supposed to look cartoonish but the CGI for this movie just looks too fake.
GO WATCH SPEED RACER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
April 30th, 2008 at 4:40 pm
EVEN BETTER THAN THE FIRST TRAILER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
April 30th, 2008 at 4:43 pm
I meant in terms or audiences man I wasn’t saying just cause a movie makes a lot of money its great. I was just saying I’ve come to terms with the fact some movies will have great special effects and some wont. The Hulk throwing a piece of a tank into a helicopter might not look in any way real but theres something about it that makes me giddy. Not everything has to look perfect. I mean no movie with a ton of CG holds up in every place over time. Except T2 that is. Look at the Matrix Reloaded Burlyman Brawl. That stuff looks terrible now but watching it I still think it looks sweet.
April 30th, 2008 at 4:47 pm
That trailer just changed my mind.
April 30th, 2008 at 4:59 pm
“As a comic book artist”
Rollin’ mah’ eyeballs Betty!
April 30th, 2008 at 5:10 pm
I’ll say it now - everything which has no sign of the Hulk looks good. But every Hulk shot on show either looks great or looks awful and not inbetween. So paint me as keeping an eye on it, but seeing how it will turn out (i.e. through reviews) before I see it.
April 30th, 2008 at 5:17 pm
Wow, they mixed everything together that makes Hulk great.
He is using Carwracks as weapons/shields, just like in Radical Entertainment’s The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction. They mixed stuff from the TV-Series (I didn’t liked that one, but many others did). They’re using scene from the comic, like the one where Hulk and Betty sit together. :?
I can’t wait for this movie.
April 30th, 2008 at 5:48 pm
DVD
April 30th, 2008 at 6:43 pm
Well so much for high hopes. Judging by the crap animation of the hulk (have the animators ever heard of physics?) it’s a bittorrent if that. Obviously there’s no such thing as a “real” hulk but at least the last one seemed to attempt to try to obey the laws of physics.
April 30th, 2008 at 7:16 pm
this is the 21st century and thats the best CG effects they can come up with???
Hulk looks fake
Abomination looks fake
this film will suck because you can tell it’s cgi and thats a distraction from the story!
why in this day and age no one can make a realistic cgi effect is sad!
Iron Man look way way better because he looks like a mechanical man!
the Hulk looks jerky and rubber!
why dont they just paint a guy green? i’d buy that more that whats in that trailer!!!!!!!!!!
April 30th, 2008 at 7:44 pm
Captain Awesome -
I don’t know if that was sarcasm, but is it hard to believe that professionals come to check out this site? I work in the film/game industry as well, as a concept artist?
Or did I miss the mixed message.
April 30th, 2008 at 8:01 pm
It was sarcasm for that opening comment. Somehow people think letting others know you’re in “some industry” validates your point.
You don’t read burger flippers posting how their skills grilling a bef pattie has helped them understand the videogame “Burger Time” better than others.
“You see, I only cook the finest ground sirloin…”
April 30th, 2008 at 8:54 pm
This actually CAN be good. :)
April 30th, 2008 at 9:09 pm
This movie will be a great comic book/tv series adaption but in terms as a film itself, it will still be kinda good. But when compared to Ang’s film, it makes T.I.H look like one of the worst movies ever. It makes it look like they did the c.g. on some regular old ass computer. The hulk looks nothing like Edward while the other hulk looked just like Eric Bana.
*I SUGGEST THAT EVERYBODY WHO ACTUALLY WANTS TO SEE THE MOVIE TO SNEAK INTO THE THEATER AND NOT PAY FOR IT SO THE MOVIE WON’T DO SO GOOD IN THE BOX OFFICE. AND WHILE YOU’RE AT IT, HOLD UP HUGE SIGNS THAT SAY YOU WANT ANG TO MAKE A SEQUEL TO HIS HULK SO IT CAN SHOW THIS HULK HOW A GOOD ACTION HULK MOVIE SHOULD LOOK LIKE.*
This movie almost takes away my interest in Iron Man now that I know that they both take place in the same universe with the whole cameo appearances on each others films.
Goo goo g’joob !!!!!!!!!!
April 30th, 2008 at 10:56 pm
I’m reminded of the dinosaur stampede in King Kong. Just too much CGI for my taste. I’m assuming Norton will get his paycheck and (hopefully) get back to doing what he does best. (I’m wondering what it would have been like if Pacino or DeNiro did a superhero flick back in their prime).
Minus Liv Tyler washing a tank in a wet tank top, I’m thinking this one can slide.
*George Lopez. That there is funny :)
April 30th, 2008 at 11:55 pm
awesome -
Lol, yeah I agree on that. I thought you meant “Yeah right you are.”
May 1st, 2008 at 12:27 am
As long as the story is good. And I agree with USvsIreland, 10 ft tall green monsters aren’t an everyday encounter.
May 1st, 2008 at 1:36 am
I’m sorry, but that looks awesome. It’s a dumb, CGI-filled summer blockbuster, which is just what I want out of the Hulk (and what I didn’t get out of you-won’t-like-me-when-I’m-Ang-Lee’s rubbish attempt.
May 1st, 2008 at 3:26 am
SILENCE FANBOYS!!!
the trailer has spoken. and the decision is that this movie looks about a billion times better than the last “attempt.” the graphics look crisper, even if they don’t look as real as iron man (then again, its two 10ft monsters, so that can be forgiven,) and the story seems much truer to both the comics and t.v. series, which was critically genius.
plus, ive mentioned the graphics, but the HULK: i mean seriously? that looks incredible compared to lee’s “grumpy mr kitty cat” look. this one actually looks angry. (walrus, if you suggest the other hulk looked like eric bana, you seriously need an eye test my friend.)
really guys, i think, even though it might not make as much as the other two, it will still be as good as both iron man and the dark knight. even if it is a box office failure, i think the characters and the story points alone may be enough to make an avengers movie.
keep smiling!!
May 1st, 2008 at 4:03 am
looks pretty good!!! got more excited watching this trailer than the previous one. FIGHT THE IMPULSE TO COMPARE ALL MOVIES AGAINST EACH OTHER!!! you don’t have to choose just Iron Man or just Dark Knight. don’t compare. you sound like Vern in Stand By Me talking about Superman beating up Mighty Mouse….”It’d be a good fight though!” LOL
May 1st, 2008 at 8:04 am
Again, the Hulk himself (and his enemy) look terrible. It’s the nipples on the batsuit all over again.
May 1st, 2008 at 11:04 am
Yeah the Hulk looks fake but Abomination looks more realistic, and you gotta give props to tim roth’s character for throwing down his gun and standing up to the hulk even though he was kicked onto his ass (literally) but i’ll still see it to make an informed decision, but my must must MUST see is still The Dark Knight.
Here’s my list
1) The Dark Knight
2) Hellboy 2
3) The Incredible Hulk.
May 1st, 2008 at 1:47 pm
Ok, everyone is complaining about the CGI, look people, it is the Hulk, a 7-10 foot monster. I think first of all it is kind of hard to make that anymore realistic in what they have him doing. Second, Iron Man looks great, well because alot of there shots are a man in suit (sure there are CGI shots but, Iron Man is really brightly colored so yeah doing the background brightly colored also will make him look better), Batman also looks great but that is also a man in a suit. People, the story line looks great, Norton is a really superior actor compared to Bana. I mean, what more do you all want? First movie he was to green, he didnt look real enough, story sucks, not enough Hulk SMASH. They did exactly what the public wanted in this one. Not to green (while also trying to make others happy with segments where he is grey), more Hulk SMASH, better storyline (while also bringing in some of the original TV show and comics parts), and way better acting. Stop complaining so much everyone, if you dont want to see it great, dont go, no one is holding a gun to your heads, the question was do you think it will do as good as the other Hulk or at the box office, of course it will, Norton is acting in it so that by itself will be better numbers.
Look, Transformers did awesome, and I will tell you now, CGI on that one wasnt great, wait, wasnt that like 20 foot tall robots walking around and destroying stuff, hmmmm, something like a giant green monster walking around and destroying stuff, right? It will be alright lol. Just go see it and see and if you dont want to, wait for DVD and see it. Anyhow it will still do better with the numbers, buy renting or buying the DVD you will still add to the numbers. If its that bad dont see it on DVD neither lol….. Anthony
May 1st, 2008 at 3:58 pm
Actually for as simplistic as the story was in Transformers, the CG in that movie was highly excellent. And it was really the only thing I was expecting and wanted. And it delivered.
They looked like they were “in” the film. You can’t tell me that backyard scene looked shitty because it was awesome. Everything from the way they were lit, textured and even the environement they affected. The downtown fight scene between Optimus and Megatron was brilliantly done in CG. The thing is many studios real challenge is doing “organic” characters in full CG. The couple of characters that come to mind is Davey Jones from Pirates 2 and Weta’s Kong, which is by far the best fully CG organic creature I have ever seen in film.
Everything from Kong’s evolution of scar tissue to body hair getting matted when he goes through certain environments to his ultra-realistic eye behavior and movement. ILM also hit it out of the park with their CG work with Davey Jones.
Sorry man, but the CG in Transformers trumps the crap you see in these Hulk trailers.
May 1st, 2008 at 5:40 pm
WHAAAAA The CGI looks fake, WHAAAAA it looks not so real…… people it is a MOVIE, NOTHING IS REAL, the movie will do fine, there will be a second movie, and no matter how much you bitch and com plain you will go see it, if not now, then at home, so shut it up and go/don’t go see it. No matter what you say it is made and it will be oming out in
a few weeks and here is nothing you can do bout it.
May 1st, 2008 at 8:40 pm
It’s CG and a movie? What Year 3000 bullshit is this?!?!?!
My life is now fulfilled knowing that HeyNow helped me understand that these creatures don’t actually exist.
I don’t know where you think people talking about how bad the special effects look somehow mean that people mean to stop it from being shown in theatres? But to each his own, I’ll check it out when they re-run it to death on HBO later this year.
May 2nd, 2008 at 8:15 am
After looking at the new trailer I am certain they have screwed up again!!!!!
The live action and cgi DOES NOT MESH AT ALL!!!!!!
The Abomination is an abomination!!!!
The threat to the Hulk or should I say the scale of the conflict is wimpy in subject matter a la “Banner being the property of the US military” I am pretty certain the casting of the great Roth will be wasted in his characters actions. The HULK again looks like hell!!! If WETA can make an awesome incredible Cave Troll for Lord of the Rings why can’t others learn or take a hint or stand on the shoulders of past achievements and shoot for the moon!!!
He needs a more fantastical adventure and or to team up with someone— hell have him battle Subby or Wolverine. Have him really misunderstood like he use to be–when he would hulk out and do damage all the while doing some supremely innocently GOOD thing(s). The old hulk that, when the hulk, just want to be left alone, Have him rage out against the aforementioned sometime heroes, to the degree that he and they are doing lots of incidental damage to the world that then means the military attempts to stop him (them) of course unsuccessfully and then in the end it is hulk/banner mythos of the noble child-like innocent that proves to be the resolution and the ‘moral’ of the story.
I don’t see this going anywhere good and it can only have a lame Hollywood ending at best!!! It is all so predictable Big chase, climax… yah know — fade to black.. the end. LAME>> Yuck!!!!
Boo Hoo why why why do they aim so low.
Sadly,
seeonehulk
May 2nd, 2008 at 2:18 pm
I’m not going to compare this movie to The Dark Knight because they are two very different heroes and Chris Nolan’s take makes Batman and his world much more realistic than in past films. It’s IMPOSSIBLE to ground the Hulk in much reality. With that said, I am really looking forward to this movie. I love superhero movies and thought this trailer was great, and I admit I was one of the few who liked the first trailer. I don’t care about the CGI too much since it is hard to make a nine foot green monster look real. I just hope the story is strong and solid so that Marvel can establish the Hulk franchise finally and continue to make future films with the Hulk, and hopefully the Avengers with Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man. I’m sure that as the technology advances over the next few years with computer animation, the look of the Hulk will improve as well. For now, I’m just hoping for a solid, Hulk story for this movie.

Give this film a chance for God’s sakes…people who are trashing this and ripping it already are probably the same people who complained when Heath Ledger was cast as the Joker and declared that Nolan had f-ed up Batman and that The Dark Knight was going to suck and they would never see it and are now jumping on the bandwagon and saying how great that movie will be and how amazing his performance as the Joker will be. I’d be a hypocrite if I said I wasn’t one of those people, but give this movie a chance. Marvel reacquired the rights to the Hulk so they could make the movie the way it should’ve been made the first time. Ang Lee is a great director, but was the wrong choice for that movie. Everyone still went to see Batman Begins even after the bomb that was Batman & Robin. This film is a reboot, even though it’s only been five years, and they have a decent cast and Edward Norton is a great writer and I’m sure the movie will be entertaining if nothing else…Stop crapping on it without even seeing it.
