We’ve spent some time in the past sorting through Spider-Man’s rogue gallery trying to figure out which villain(s) might be featured in the next Spider-Man sequel (if and when that happens). But who is to say that the next Spider-Man villain might not be a totally new creation. Entertainment Weekly has a first look at Spider-Man’s newest comic book villain Anti-Venom, who will make his first appearance in The Amazing Spider-Man No. 568 which hits stores in August.
Discuss: What do you think of Spider-Man’s new villain? Could Anti-Venom be Spidey’s next big screen enemy?

“Anti-Venom”
This is a joke right? Did we teleport back to the 60’s when comics were still creating mirror-opposites of characters already in their giant universe of useless characters.
“We couldn’t think of anything original, just reverse Venom’s color scheme and give him “spines” and “spikes”.”
What about the Anti-Quesada?

I just really wish they would use some classic villains.. Or at least Hobgoblin, any Roger Stern Hobby stories, please.

Hate to be a negative Nancey, but this design is fucking stupid. Shame on you Marvel, stop milking Venom.

Nancy*
Seriously Peter, invest in an EDIT POST function. I beg you.

Sam R. couldn’t get Venom right, because you could feel his hate for the character…Spidey 3 was on the level of the last X-Men movie in it’s badness…Screw Spider-Man 4 I want to see a R rated Venom movie in the vain of the first two Blade movies…you know less Xena-like
Marvel needs to acknowledge that Blade was their first successful movie and wasn’t PG-13.

Slow news day huh?
April 30th, 2008 at 7:20 am
WTF is this BULLSHIT?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
April 30th, 2008 at 7:34 am
Well, fist off they need to get a new director. Then recast Peter Parker and Mary Jane. Then use the Lizard (they’ve already introduced us to Dr. Connors). Maybe the Scorpion. Both are classic villains that are actually cool (especially when you compare them to Vulture, Electro, Mysterio and some of the others).
April 30th, 2008 at 7:43 am
this is sad.
sad for Marvel inc..
what about Maddam Web or someone with a little more depth.
c’mon? this is a terrible idea…
April 30th, 2008 at 7:45 am
wtff Its gotta be Lizard.
It has to be.
or at least Mysterio. that could be sickk.
April 30th, 2008 at 7:55 am
Need an entire movie about THE RHINO asap.
April 30th, 2008 at 8:29 am
I just laughed my ass off! SO LAME LOL
Jokes aside, I also strongly believe Venom should look like the chupacabra
April 30th, 2008 at 8:41 am
He looks like that Spawn monster thingy.
April 30th, 2008 at 8:52 am
haha Matthew thats it,
He reminds me of that Spawn clown dude.
April 30th, 2008 at 9:08 am
lame
April 30th, 2008 at 9:39 am
that’s weak
April 30th, 2008 at 9:40 am
No no…They use this Villian in the next movie and right at the final battle with Spiderman he peels back his mask and Poof! Tobey can fight Ashton Kutcher! Man what an ending that would be.
/sarcasm
Good lord I hated Spiderman 3…Can’t believe I went to the midnight showing to get slop like that. Because of that I think they should Not make a Spiderman for another ten years. And try again.
April 30th, 2008 at 9:47 am
If it was the Anti-Venom wouldn’t he be a happy go lucky nice guy and Spidey’s best friend?
April 30th, 2008 at 9:57 am
We need new villians/ideas; not old villians remastered. The “House of Ideas” seriously needs to rethink this dumb idea.
April 30th, 2008 at 10:27 am
WTF does anti-venom even mean?
I’m just going to pretend that the spiderman movies stopped with the first one…
April 30th, 2008 at 11:02 am
needs to be the lizard. The groundwork is already there for the Peter and Dr. Connors relationship.
April 30th, 2008 at 12:37 pm
for the next villian: carnage or nothing
ofcourse it wud have to be rated R but who cares???
R ratings keep out all the 12 year old girls who just wanna see Tobey Maguire shirtless!
April 30th, 2008 at 12:39 pm
I think the next will be lizard. Plus who will take the lead role or will it still be tobey mcguire. Plus it seems like they have gone through the main bad guys. Rhino would be kinda cool.
April 30th, 2008 at 12:40 pm
The Lizard, with a guest spot by Rhino!
April 30th, 2008 at 1:44 pm
Awesome -
It’s not Clown, it’s Violator fool. get your McFarlan’s right!
April 30th, 2008 at 3:20 pm
I’ll be so disappointed if they don’t use Carnage!!!!!!
April 30th, 2008 at 6:54 pm
Anti-Venom? Wouldn’t that be Spiderman or a good guy…..? I mean doesn’t anti-bad mean good?
April 30th, 2008 at 7:23 pm
Give us some Black Cat / Felicia Hardy!
April 30th, 2008 at 8:59 pm
Anti-Venom??? ANTI-Venom? Geez, they didn’t even get the original Venom to look half as cool in part three as he looked in the comics… And now they want to bring in some cheap clone?
May 3rd, 2008 at 6:29 pm
Probably the most feasible idea would be covering the Conners/Lizard and mutation/Man-Spider storylines, with a little of “The Other” thrown in.
May 4th, 2008 at 3:49 am
they should do a complete redo of the movie series they do no justice to the comics they have the spidey personality all wrong hes still a shy little prick and mary jane is a moose so yer the decent one was 2 ecept for the fact fuck loads of people saw peters face FUCK ANTI VENOM
May 6th, 2008 at 3:52 pm
that is awesome!
May 11th, 2008 at 8:30 pm
Not sure what is stuck up all of your asses, sure they are milking a popular character….so whAT? They add originality + a base that everyone knows, and no one said that he was the villain in the fabled “Spiderman-4″, which is still a far off rumor. The design they used is a common scheme, you’ll all eventually
start saying ” WTF?! Another Villain?? MARVEL BE MORE CREATIVE”. Design a character yourself that is 100% original following the Spider-man theme and THEN you can bitch and moan about originality
May 12th, 2008 at 7:47 pm
why don’t they have spiderwoman or spiderkid that will be pretty cool or they could try to make anouther super villain or make spidey join a hereo leuge
May 22nd, 2008 at 4:01 pm
OK I’ll admit there is no way in hell that this character could ever come close to matching the original venom in coolness, but there still is one way I would welcome this character and that is if it is somehow Eddie Brock and he comes back and beats the shit out of Mac Gargan. God I have been pissed off ever since they made the symbiote leave eddie. Eddie Brock is the only venom. period. Oh and Spiderman 3 was possibly the worst movie and comic adaptation i have ever seen.

Christopher Marc
What? Xena is f-cking bad ass (excuse my language) in fact, so bad ass that it isn’t even a strong enough description for her bad assness. But anyway…I’m probably part of the 2% who didn’t think Spider-Man 3 was a bad movie, geeze louise.
