Peter, both of the trailers released by SPC so far have been “teasers,” The whole point of a teaser is NOT to give you an explanation of what the movie is about. It’s just supposed to slowly build awareness. When the full length trailer comes out, you will then see a more cohesive vision for the film. Chill!

I just saw this at Tribeca, and it surpassed my expectations. This trailer, and a good bit of the reviews out there, really aren’t doing it justice.

I’ve heard a lot of good things about this and will probably see it based on word-of-mouth, but based solely on the trailers I would have passed.

SPC couldn’t market my leg to a horny dog. One example that leaps to my mind is one of the best films of last year Persepolis.

Noodles: I’m really hoping that someone at Sony sees these attacks and maybe changes their strategy. Believe me, I would love to be wrong on this one. I want The Wackness to be a hit more than probably anyone not associated with the film, but I’m not going to sit back and pretend the marketing they’ve released thus far is good. It’s not even passable. I feel bad even telling people this is one of my favorite films of the year because everyone I’ve shown the two trailers to thus far looks at me like I’m crazy. Trust me, this film is a great one. It’s too bad the marketing doesn’t reflect this.

Get money to promote it? More like gets money to hate on it.

Peter, I honestly can’t figure out what you hope to accomplish with your irrational assault here. Sony is not going to hire you to run their campaign. Sony is not going to renounce the film and let Searchlight pick it up, just in time to save the day.

You keep saying you want the movie to be a hit. But really it sounds like you hope it bombs just so you can say you were right.

jojo, I assume you’ve never discovered something (a movie, a band, a television show) before that you wanted to share with all your friends? A few times a year I come across great films at film festivals that might go undiscovered. I try to push this wonderful movies because I have this soapbox.

And no, we don’t get paid for any editorial/news content. I’m pretty sure Sony Pictures Classics would probably pay us to shut up rather than us continue to shine light on their marketing failures.

Ok..here’s my shot. This is the first thing I’ve seen of this film..honest

A confused, recent college grad finds himself grappling with a myriad of fears, the chief one being: how does one live, exactly. Herein enters his shrink who forces his befuddled patient to experience at the world in ways that he never could have imagined. Which leads the recent grad to reassess all of his conceptions about life, love and..um..hip hop?

You know..Dead Poets Society meets The Game?

In fairness, I’ve seen the movie, and I don’t really know what it’s about, either. It’s not exactly plot-driven, which makes it hard to capture in a trailer.
