Now you might be saying to yourself, how could someone screw up the classic Speed Racer theme song? The answer comes in a 3-minute music video of the newly revamped version of the Go Speed Racer Go theme song as performed by Ali Dee and the Deekompressors. I swear, this new music video makes me want to vomit. The Playlist calls it ” 3-minute of painful ear damage” and Paul Scheer points focus to the song’s “awesome” lyrics such as “I tear up every party I’m at”. Ughhh. Check out the video below.

Personally, Slayer should have done the theme song.
April 26th, 2008 at 4:04 pm
LMAO i saw it on mute and the footage is awesome haha
Christina Ricci looks hot!!!!!!!!!! lol
April 26th, 2008 at 4:06 pm
Eh, I put it on mute and it was pretty damn awesome.
April 26th, 2008 at 4:11 pm
My wife and I saw the H&K flick today and there was a new, even more horrible SR trailer on it. I grew up watching that show and seeing that absurdist visual pillaging makes me nauseas.
April 26th, 2008 at 4:32 pm
The visuals were cool, but that song SUCKED! It was a pointless & unneccessary extension of a an already iconic theme song.
April 26th, 2008 at 4:42 pm
Good footage. Shitty song….
April 26th, 2008 at 4:45 pm
Yeah the song is pretty ridiculous but there’s nothing wrong with the video. Anything with Emile Hirsch is a good thing in my book.
April 26th, 2008 at 4:48 pm
For the record, I was commenting on the song more than the video. The video actually has some cool new visuals.
April 26th, 2008 at 4:49 pm
Ok, loved The Matrix, V for Vendetta was great… but ‘Speed Racer’ ? Did this really need to be made into a movie? I can’t imagine why anyone would want to see this, unless they put acid in the coke machine at the theater?
April 26th, 2008 at 5:16 pm
They should have used the version by Sponge. It’s pretty awesome.
April 26th, 2008 at 5:44 pm
Where on Earth did this band come from? Are they a Black Eyed Peas “tribute”? Ick.
April 26th, 2008 at 5:44 pm
I think I might actually go see this ….
April 26th, 2008 at 5:46 pm
The video was cool,as well as the song. What the hell are you expecting?!A Grammy Award winning song!I have heard more negative feedback for the trailers of amovie that has yet to be released than neutral or favorable. What do you want?Ricky Bobby running around in his skivvies,”I’,m on fire! Help me Jesus, Help me Tom Cruise!
It will be a good adaptation of a classic cartoon into movie.I think they will not destroy anyone’s childhood hero.It will be fun.
April 26th, 2008 at 5:53 pm
yay music for 5 year olds. Clearly some kind of mashup attempt was made here between the original song and some club, ass shaking, dollar dollar bill ya’ll watered down pop act and the cusp of further obscurity and ridicule.
April 26th, 2008 at 5:57 pm
Donivan: from the directors of The Matrix and the Matrix sequels I was expecting… oh, music as cool as what was featured in The MAtrix trilogy (yes, even the sequels had great music). And this music is… just… BAD.
April 26th, 2008 at 6:12 pm
Check out the FAR superior SPONGE cover version of the Speed Racer Theme here: http://youtube.com/watch?v=AliffgdyOuI
It was from about 12 years ago - shame the movie ain’t using it.
April 26th, 2008 at 6:24 pm
@peter sciretta: amen. music bad. footage awesome!
@jeff: YES!?!!!!
April 26th, 2008 at 6:33 pm
Peter, do it better.
April 26th, 2008 at 6:40 pm
song sucked, visuals were sick
April 26th, 2008 at 6:40 pm
CGI looks worst than Next Gen video game graphics.
April 26th, 2008 at 6:43 pm
Donivan is a fucking loser, this music sucked - I could do it better with a panasonic keyboard.
April 26th, 2008 at 6:45 pm
BRIAN, DO IT. i want to hear it.
that wasn’t sarcastic or a diss, I’m actually intrigued.
April 26th, 2008 at 6:59 pm
Yea, BRIIAANN,Do it.That was sarcasm and a diss, no offense to you ,dan.
April 26th, 2008 at 7:00 pm
Can this movie reall be good???? cause it looks as sh@tty as
the song I think not, I’d rather watch paint dry
April 26th, 2008 at 7:55 pm
I will, i’m doing it right now. It’s not hard since this song was so awful.
Also your sense of humor sucks donivan, if you have to let everyone know its “sarcasm and a diss” then you are an unfunny loser.
April 26th, 2008 at 7:56 pm
Lets talk about Wesley Snipes
April 26th, 2008 at 8:09 pm
Song is horrible and the movie looks even worse.
April 26th, 2008 at 8:14 pm
YUKKK!!!!
April 26th, 2008 at 8:26 pm
Brian,”unfunny” is not a word, illiterate anus. What about Snipes? He did wrong ,got caught ,doing time.It doesn’t deserve any media time.
April 26th, 2008 at 8:34 pm
This movie is one of those movies that was trying to be too faithful to the source material and sucked horribly.
Looks like the worst $150 millipn budget flick ever.
April 26th, 2008 at 8:34 pm
That song is not the Speed Racer theme song, and should not be attributed as such.
It’s almost as bad as that lame-ass version of the Transformers theme song some idiots made for the movie.
April 26th, 2008 at 9:04 pm
Guys, this movie is designed for KIDS, and, as such, it’s actually a pretty good song. It wasn’t meant to please any of you, really.
April 26th, 2008 at 9:12 pm
Green day did a better cover about a decade ago.
April 26th, 2008 at 9:35 pm
“illiterate anus” will be my new term of the month.
April 26th, 2008 at 9:41 pm
movie remakes & hip-hop: for some reason they’re both popular.
btw, this just reminded me that kick gurry is in SR…he’s from alex proyas’ ‘garage days’, great movie! i’m glad he’s still working.
April 26th, 2008 at 9:47 pm
Donivan, your keyboard called, get a fucking space bar.
April 26th, 2008 at 9:49 pm
Snipes could have done a better version, from jail.
April 26th, 2008 at 10:20 pm
I don’t think the Sponge cover would go well with this. That said I think they did a decent job of incorporating the original into what they did, except the bit where it gets all ReGAYton on it. Either way still can’t wait to see this movie.
April 26th, 2008 at 10:45 pm
haha OC,
It’s good to know people watched Garage Days other than just me
:P
April 26th, 2008 at 11:12 pm
I heard the song and for some reason I couldn’t stop punching myself in the face. I couldn’t figure out why and then I realized that getting hit in the face felt better and was taking my mind off of what was happening to my eyes and ears. I felt like I was being punished for being alive and conscious while this video was playing. My body will recover but my mind will never be the same. I think Im deaf in one ear and can only hear R. Kelly’s Trapped in The Closet in the other. Damn you Speed Racer theme song!!!!!
April 26th, 2008 at 11:52 pm
bad song, but a funny thread.
This movie is going to be like preteen crack and an absolute shoe-in for a Nickelodeon award.
Put me down for die casts of all the cars.
Black Snake Moan Ricci to Speed Racer Ricci. That’s a rollercoaster of conflicting lust if I ever saw one. :)
April 27th, 2008 at 12:47 am
I did throw up just now. My stomach is still going at it, since I am drunk and all, but still… this should come with a warning for people that are epileptic.
never ever drinking 2 gallons of wine again!
April 27th, 2008 at 5:03 am
I’m into heavy metal and extremely dislike hip hop (or whatever the hell else you would classify that Speed Racer song), so if I had to vomit every time I heard a bad movie theme song, I’d be bulimic. I tried watching the whole video here, but just couldn’t do it. I had to just skip through it to get an idea of what it sounded like. It’s probably not the worst thing I’ve ever heard, but still, no thanks. I’m with Captain Awesome, Slayer would have been the better choice to do the theme song.
April 27th, 2008 at 6:59 am
Seriously.. this movie looks like it will BLOW with a capital “B,L,O,W”…
April 27th, 2008 at 2:06 pm
Captain Awesome, with my blessing.
dan, I tried to give you props and you come back at me like that?
Then.. F @ C k you too. Enough spaces for you?
Keep your comments addressed to what is the topic.
April 27th, 2008 at 7:32 pm
thiks movie looks as though it can be as good as battlefield earth
April 27th, 2008 at 10:01 pm
Yup, that’s “music” nowadays. Might explain why I haven’t bought a CD in 10 years.
April 27th, 2008 at 10:34 pm
“I’ll be sipping and dipping
and get you tripping magnificent
if your in a predicament
knowing danger is immanent.”
Just from that quote, I got that Speed Racer is an alcoholic drug dealer that gets out of sticky situations with his amazing hemp powers.
And if that was only about 5.6 seconds of understandable lyrics
-granted, I had to play it four times-
then what in the bloody hell does the rest of the song mean?
April 28th, 2008 at 5:37 am
The music is supposed to be cheesy, Pete.
Kiddy rap :-D
I think it kicks ass. The song is on the official website and I’ve had it on repeat for days :-D
April 29th, 2008 at 8:38 pm
Is one of the people singing Daddy Yankee? O.o UGGHHH!!! Disgusting!!! I will just put it on mute as the visuals look good and I really like to see the movie… god I hope is not filled with music like this >.
April 29th, 2008 at 10:40 pm
Where in the song are the lyricas “I tear up every party that I’m at”?
Because as far as I can tell (I’m only able to understand the English lyrics), the song is only about racing. It’s nice that you don’t like the song, but you really shouldn’t go pulling stuff out of your ass.
May 1st, 2008 at 2:22 am
The transitions they used for the video were kind of lame and cheesy, but I think the FX are pretty cool, and I personally find the song to be rather catchy. Most of the English lyrics are from the original theme song, and I’m not really sure where you’re getting the whole “I tear up every party I’m at†either… Anyway, it looks like it might be worth seeing in theaters. /shrug
May 11th, 2008 at 6:47 pm

May 28th, 2008 at 10:27 am
I’m glad “everyone didn’t just jump on the hate wagon for the lyrics, song and video. I THINK THE VIDEO (MUSIC AND LYRICS) ROCKED!!! AND IN SEEING THE SPONGE VIDEO? OHH I’M TRULY GLAD THEY DIDN’T USE THAT LACK OF SKILL…and it sounds like the guy is drab and whining the whole time, geez.
Ok, watch and listen again…ali dee = excitement cheesy fun.. sponge = drab whiny and crawling “lets get this guy over with” bore
Hope i enlightened a bit hehehe
May 28th, 2008 at 10:30 am
oh and on a funner and more learning note, has anybody got the lyrics to the japanese and spanish parts? Sounds like ali dee was cool to be a bit international about it! lmao! hehe
