@ Emmanuel Munoz

"The people who are making this movies seem a little pompous by saying that they are going to take down the Harry Potter franchise."

Um... that comparison has ONLY been made by reporters/bloggers/etc No person affiliated with the movie ever claimed that they are going to take down the harry potter franchise... I'm a pretty big follower of the news around this movie, so I'm pretty sure that's right, unless you can point me otherwise...

There was a funny comment made on an MTV interview when 2 actors were asked who would win a fight between the wizards of HP or the vampires of Twilight (one actor said, "oh we'd totally kick a**!" and the other said "eh...I don't know, they've got brooms")

But please show me where anybody MAKING the movie ever mentioned they thought they were going to take down the HP!

when i first starting hearing buzz about the book, i rolled my eyes and thought it was going to be just another crappy teen book and another crappy teen movie. My mother also heard the buzz and got me the book... it was a nice thought but i put the book in my bookself to collect dust. One by one my freinds all started reading the book and one by one turned into twilighters, and one night i gave into my curiousity and picked up the book, to my suprise it wasnt bad....... it was actually really addicting. What can i say sometimes ignorance isn't bliss. I will never mock something i havent looked into again.

I am in LOVE!! I wish I could be in the fairytale. I am always constantly carrying books with me. My favorite one of al time is Twilight! I love the way Stephanie writes. She gives so much detail to where you feel like your there. The way she talks about Edward is just so heart warming cause we all get that feeling around a guy. That chill that goes up your spin when he touches your hand or just looks at you. I think Stephanie has such a great personality and I would love to meet her, But you see thats only another fairytale. As much as we want this book to come to life and be there, we have to remeber its only fiction. You Stephanie Meyer are truley inspiring. Thank you. Until next time cya!

Just thought i'd drop a quick thought.

I'd never heard of these books, of this movie, pretty much any of this before some evening in February when my best friend called me with the incredibly exciting news that Robert Pattinson was in some movie, and it was going to be shooting in Washington.

As we live in Seattle, and Robert Pattinson (as we discovered from the Goblet of Fire movie) is very, VERY pretty, we quickly tracked down where in Washington this movie was being shot. And we drove ourselves a couple hours to the tiny Kalama, WA, where they were shooting scenes at the local high school.

We got to spend about 6 hours hanging around the outside shoots, met a couple of the crew members, got in some Robert spotting (he is SO pretty), and what's more, saw many a Twilight fan. They would show up, having driven much farther than we have, and stand around in packs. Many of them were mothers of girls who had read the books (in fact, they have their own website, TwilightMoms). They were debating accuracy, even though there was not much to see, taking pictures, and generally an excited lot.

Judging by the number of fans i saw - and how far it seemed like they came just to see the set - i'm thinking this movie will in fact be huge. Even if it weren't for the legions of fans already dedicated to the books who will turn out in droves, there's the lure of vampires and a young, generally good looking cast.

And before the commenters here get all cranky about the vampires in sunlight thing - the crew we talked to stated that in these stories, vampires don't die in the sun, but dazzle blindingly, which is why this particular family lives in Forks, WA, which i can honestly state is a pretty dreary, overcast place. Little cause for worry about unexpected sunbreaks.

I disagree.

You'd be going against millions of readers (of all ages may i add) by saying that this book was a 'piece of crap'. Although the plot can get a little predictable at times, the characters are so real and down to earth and the dialogue is so witty that you begin to forget it's 800 pages long.

Sure it's no Harry Potter, but it's definitely not crap. My suggestion for anyone whose never heard of it is to have some patience, and read through the entire thing

Because when it comes down to it, it isn't that bad of a book for a stay-at-home mom turned world famous author (:

I am 42 years old, and boring Anne Rice books spoiled vampire lit for me. I had, however, due to being a huge book geek, heard about "Twilight" on the Harry Potter Mugglecast, and had picked up the book several times before putting it back down. I finally bought it last Christmas, and, much like what happened with Harry Potter, I was back within 2 days to buy the next two books.

They are excellent books..not overly violent, no sexual content, with the the importance of love, family, and friendship being the most powerful themes. In fact, morals are VERY important in this book. Life vs death, do vampires have souls, even waiting until marriage to have sex...how often do you see stuff like this in the "Gossip Girl" crap they have out today, much less it being as phenomenally successful as Twilight has become?

My 11 year old daughter has these books on her summer reading list. I will have no second thoughts whatsoever on letting her read them. The movie? Well, I'll have to see it first, before she does. Envisioning violence in your head versus seeing it sensationalized for the male viewer (who will be dragged there by their girlfriends and/or wives)..the violence on screen is more traumatic, I think.

In fact, morals are VERY important in this book. Life vs death, do vampires have souls, even waiting until marriage to have sex…how often do you see stuff like this in the “Gossip Girl” crap they have out today, much less it being as phenomenally successful as Twilight has become?

My 11 year old daughter has these books on her summer reading list. I will have no second thoughts whatsoever on letting her read them. The movie? Well, I’ll have to see it first, before she does. Envisioning violence in your head versus seeing it sensationalized for the male viewer (who will be dragged there by their girlfriends and/or wives)..the violence on screen is more traumatic, I think.

The people who are making this movies seem a little pompous by saying that they are going to take down the Harry Potter franchise.
I tried to read the book but it was too much of teen drama, that just happened to have vampires.
But i do know many fans of the book including my girlfriend but she hates that cast of the movie so she will not see it.
