I think all of the harry potter books and films dont get enough credit its like one of the best book series and movie series ever i think it ranks with the matrix trilogy and all that stuff i cant wait for the next movie

I am glad that they are splitting “The Deathly Hallows” book, there is just to much going on to put in a 2 to 3 hour movie. I have been left looking for the rest of the story on both of the last 2 releases but “The Order of the Phoenix” was fantastic. The action was great, my grandchildren were on the edge of there seats for the whole movie, I am looking forward to the next 3 movies and so are the children.

I completely agree that Cuaron was the best director. His movie pulled me in and made me feel immersed in the HP world more so than any of the other movies. I also like the eternally confident, calm and collected Dumbledore he depicted more so than the new, panic-stricken Dumbledore that doesn’t reflect the experienced, wise and distinguished nature of the Dumbledore from the books.
I do like that they are splitting the last book into two films as I think it lends itself least to the type of editing and omitting of scenes that movies are invariably forced to do.

First week of May 2011 belongs to Marvel Comics Captain America now. That should be as big as Iron Man. Harry should grab the late May spot that Indiana Jones has this year.

What the hell are u guys talking about?!!!!
Chris, you obviously aren’t a real Harry Potter fan, if you were, you wouldnt like directors that rip the books to shreds like Alfonso Cuaron.
He was seriously the worst thing to ever happen to the Harry Potter movie franchise.
The Prisoner Of Azkaban movie totally sucked and it was “his vision” that totally made that movie not worth watching.
The Prisoner Of Azkaban was totally my favourite book until the movie came out and everytime i read it i just think of the bad movie that goes along with it and i just cringe.
Im greatful that Yates will direct the last 2 as he did an awesome job on the Order of the Phoenix, which was by far the best movie visually even though they cut alot out of it, u hardly even notice it until the end, and it didnt really matter anyway.
So if u are a real fan, u’ll be happy that Yates will direct the last one like me.
Not want some stupid director like Alfonso Cuaron to eff the whole series ending up.

I love the fact that David Yates is coming back to finish the series, but I must admit, I was hoping Del Toro would have gotten his hands on Deathly Hallows. I don’t doubt that Yates will be great, but I think Del Toro would have been perfect.

A lot of people think Grint is the best actor. I never really got that. Just because he can squeel and give a funny line. He can’t even give a good interview. (”uhm, yeah, tha was sorta wicked… yeah”)

I thought Cuaron was very good as well, but I think Yates was pretty good too and I’m very curious about the next 3 films, that he will also be directing. I don’t think OOTP was a step back. It felt sober. Undone from any wonder. But I actually think that was on purpous, because hogwarts isn’t supposed to be a magical place anymore, with Umbrigde controlling it and Harry being all traumatiest and stuff.

For my money, the best director so far was Cauron - by far! I really had hoped he would return for Half-Blood Prince because I thought his poetic and visual style would have worked well in that film. I think Mike Newell did a pretty good job of GoF, especially considering the scope of that book. I was somewhat disappointed by OotP. It seems like the film took a step back in quality almost to the days of Chris Columbus where it’s pretty much just a mapped out retelling of the book. And yet, the scenes you gear up for just don’t seem to cut it. Like the Weasleys quitting school, or Dumbledore’s exit when they are about to arrest him. The actors took a step back too â€“ and since, Danielle and Emma donâ€™t seem to have Grintâ€™s naturally chops they need a good director like Alfonso to guide them better.

If you think Yates style is similar to Newell you are wrong. Look a little bit closer. Yates was much more subtle than Newells.
Usually you can recognize the director in the way Dumbledore is played out.

first and second film: Columbus. Dumbledore was very much like a grandpa/merlin-figure, without any life or origanality in him. (just like the movies really)

third movie: Cuaron. His dumbledore was very witty and mysterious. (just like the film.)

fourth movie: Newell. Dumbledore became very loud, dark and agressive. (just like the film)

fifth movie: Dumbledore was still impressive, powerfull, yet with a much softer tone about him and yes, more subtlety (just like the film.)

Think about it.

You really think Yates was the best one? I think Alfonso Cuaron did a better job than any of them. Yates’ style was VERY similar to Mike Newell, who did “Goblet of Fire”. I don’t think it was the director who let “Order of the Phoenix” down, though. I think it was the change in screenwriter. “Order of the Phoenix” will end up being the only one not written by Steve Kloves. That’s pretty telling, I think.
