/Film reader escobar sent us a link to a new Dark Knight viral website which promises a new Joker-related game in “Four days.” Or at least that’s what we think is going on. I’m sure this will all lead to the new movie trailer for The Dark Knight.
Anyway, if you click on the joker card nailed to the wall with a knife on the new “It’s All Part of The Plan” webpage, we get a look at a new poster for The Dark Knight which features Batman standing in front of a burning building, the Bat symbol set on fire with the tagline “Welcome to a World Without Rules.” Very cool.
Click on the Photo Above to View the New Poster
in Super Duper High Resolution (4050 x 6000px)
A few people have asked me for a desktop wallpaper version of the above poster. I have included that below.
The Dark Knight hits theaters on July 18th 2008.

April 24th, 2008 at 7:16 pm
since The Dark Knight became The Joker’s movie, they had to release a poster that actually had Batman. let’s face it. from the trailer, I dont even know if this has anything to do with Batman haha.
April 24th, 2008 at 7:21 pm

I really hope this film can live up to the hype.
Sarcastic note >
“Perhaps the DVD will have an extended documentary on Viral Marketing”
Really, this is the summer film I’m waiting for.
April 24th, 2008 at 7:32 pm
Awesome. Who isn’t excited for this? Who?
April 24th, 2008 at 7:47 pm

April 24th, 2008 at 7:55 pm

April 24th, 2008 at 8:00 pm
welcome to a post-9/11 world.
April 24th, 2008 at 8:04 pm
Peter,
You rule for linking the HQ version.
April 24th, 2008 at 8:13 pm
WB’s new marketing certainly knows what they’re doing.
April 24th, 2008 at 8:15 pm
For those who asked, I have also added a desktop wallpaper version of the poster which looks sweet, albeit a little bit film grainy, on my 30 inch apple cinema display, so it should look fine on smaller monitors.
April 24th, 2008 at 8:22 pm
!!! oh my….
April 24th, 2008 at 8:23 pm
Yep this poster is sweet and i love welcome to a world without rulesi rely can’t weight for this movie and i don’t think i have to wory about them useing twoface in this one they made that prety clear save him for batman 3
April 24th, 2008 at 8:24 pm
I assume the “Four Days” will mean the new and last trailer. :)
April 24th, 2008 at 8:28 pm
Peter,l i saw the new trailer at NY comic con, they said it was coming out in 2 weeks.
April 24th, 2008 at 8:33 pm
Drew: I heard it will be attached to either Iron Man or Speed Racer (Racer is a WB film, so you never know). I’m not saying the trailer will debut in four days, just a new viral game which will likely eventually lead to the new trailer as a reward. Again, I could be wrong.
April 24th, 2008 at 8:34 pm
that’s the definition of BADASS
April 24th, 2008 at 8:37 pm
Peter - that isn’t a lever, it’s a knife stabbed through a Joker card.
April 24th, 2008 at 8:38 pm
Addict: Thanks, I have changed the story to reflect that correction.
April 24th, 2008 at 8:50 pm
holy crap!!! THAT is a movie poster.
April 24th, 2008 at 9:07 pm
I smell a 9/11 controversy
April 24th, 2008 at 9:24 pm
That is the most ballin thing I’ve ever seen.
April 24th, 2008 at 9:37 pm
If you’ve read the NY times article from March, you know that there will be parallels to certain world events in this film. The 9/11 comparison is not unwarranted.
April 24th, 2008 at 9:38 pm
why are there cities in the plaques underneath the pictures, what could that mean
April 24th, 2008 at 9:57 pm
After Blu-ray is finished, I hope the next format is Super Duper HD. I really think Peter is on to something hehe.
On a more serious note - fantastic poster. Can the marketing team do no wrong for this film??
April 24th, 2008 at 10:33 pm
BEAUTIFUL! *cries*
April 24th, 2008 at 10:35 pm
Why so serious about this marketing campaign?
April 24th, 2008 at 10:55 pm
Awesome visual. Love it!
April 24th, 2008 at 10:55 pm
I love this poster!
I think it would have been equally, if not cooler, to see a giant smiley face on the building instead of the bat symbol. Looks like Batman, put the Bat-wing through there and hasn’t run away yet.
April 25th, 2008 at 12:16 am
i love the new poster!
April 25th, 2008 at 12:33 am
Ok, it wasn’t the studio’s fault that Heath Ledger died and made the posters with his face seem macabre and inappropriate. But the latest poster seems in very poor taste to me because it reminds me a little too much of 9/11. Anyone else think it’s not an image they should use to promote a movie?
April 25th, 2008 at 12:38 am
Mike I,
Why is it in poor taste? When the fuck are people going to get over posing 9/11 with any image involving an explosion and a building?
Mike you can look anywhere and if you want to, it will remind you of 9/11. This shit is really tired now and I hate just “reading” posts about people getting even quasi-offended about a picture involving these elements. I dont see a plane going into a building and bodies flying out hitting the ground.
April 25th, 2008 at 1:08 am
AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME, I just hope the film lives up to the posters!! I’m sure we won’t be disappointed tho!
“”Sarcastic note >
“Perhaps the DVD will have an extended documentary on Viral Marketing””"
To be fair, I’d watch it ;)

There will be one major factor that will make The Dark Knight better than Batman Begins. And that one factor is Christopher Nolan’s brother, Jonathan. Any script that Chris and Jon have worked on together (Memento, The Prestige) has come out as nothing short of cinematic gold.
I had my issues with the script of Batman Begins, and I always said that the screenplay for the next film would need to be taken to another level in order to achieve true greatness. I suspect that, with brother Jonathan helping to pen the script, this could quite possibly end up being the best Batman film ever made.
Bring it on.
PS
Burning buildings are a staple of action cinema. 9/11 isn’t going to change the fact that exploding skyscrapers are viscerally spectacular. It’s in our blood whether you like it or not.
April 25th, 2008 at 7:05 am
Bad. Ass. That is all.
April 25th, 2008 at 7:57 am
sweetest poster ever i want one now.
April 25th, 2008 at 6:52 pm
