Hellboy NaziGuillermo del Toro says that if Hellboy II: The Golden Army is successful enough to warrant a sequel, he has a plan for a third Hellboy film, and that’s it.

“If there was ever a third one, I would really make sure that we at least sign a contract that there is no more,” del Toro told SciFi. “No prequels and no sequels: nothing. If that happens, then there is a third one we have planned, and the seeds are planted in this film.”

Guillermo’s plan for a third film would involve Hellboy facing off against twenty-first century Nazis.

“It’s not this group of freakies that hide in the sewers, but people that are incredibly rich.”

Looks like del Toro is taking a cue from the original Indiana Jones trilogy. Jones also faces off against the evil Nazis in his first and third adventures. And much like The Golden Army, Temple of Doom took the series in a supernatural direction. But just remember, Lucas and Spielberg also once insisted that Indiana Jones 3 would be the Last Crusade, and here we are years later going to the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull…

Good. I am glad one director believes in keep a franchise as it is and not spawning off multiple shit sequels. I’m looking at you AVP!

I’m down for a solid Hellboy trilogy if he wants to. Del Toro has done this comic justice and really gave it a life of it’s own on film. I also agree with him about 3 films and that being it.

I think 3 films are “enough” for almost anything. Anything after that to me is just milking the properties or furthur ruining a good thing.

i thought there was just an article in wizard where perlman said he play red for quite some time. either way, i do trust gdt intentions.

Temple of Doom took Indiana Jones in a supernatural direction?

The Ark of the Covenant spewing spirits and melting faces didn’t do that?

    Ok, just checking.

Del Toro dosn’t own Hellboy, so it’s really not his call. If he gives up his film rights, then HE can’t make more films. Mike Mignola owns Hellboy…

Are you retarded? Del Toro and Mike Mignole are gonna make the deal, He is not acting alone. He doesnt want Universal to spawn any sequels because he doesn’t want Hellboy to “Over Stay His Welcome” You know like Shrek? He doesn’t want Universal to milk a dead cow. He wants the 3rd one to be the last or at least the last one he can work on at the moment. I hope Hellboy 3 will be the return of Kroenen and Rasputin, because as cool as it sounds to have Hellboy fighting Frankenstien…I would want the movie to stay true to the Comic and Bring in more characters such as Roger the Homunculus.

On the note that Hellboy is following the path of Indiana Jones, I would like to point out the, apparently not well know fact, that the second Indiana Jones was a prequel to the first. Meaning that Indy went to India first then fought the nazis in Raiders and Crusade. Where as Hellboy fights 2 people who fought under the nazi flag 60 years before, then fights the Drow, and if a third installment was to come around he would then be fighting neo nazis.
