Meaning that Indy went to India first then fought the nazis in Raiders and Crusade. Where as Hellboy fights 2 people who fought under the nazi flag 60 years before, then fights the Drow, and if a third installment was to come around he would then be fighting neo nazis. Del Toro has done this comic justice and really gave it a life of it's own on film. I also agree with him about 3 films and that being it. I think 3 films are "enough" for almost anything.
