I think narnia looks good and interesting. But I am a little confused with prince Caspien. Didn't the kids get crowned rulers of narnia?

I think ethier narnia or Get smart will be the next big thing.

ghoest

sorry for late reply.... but the 1st rate VFX studios are ILM, Weta, DD (after the new hiring of ILM sup's) and Sony Imagewokrs and maybe Framestore and Double Negative mixed in between a bit...
R&H's quality of work is still way below these guys. and to comment on the movies you mentioned:

Narnia --> I said even before, this is the only thing that came out of R&H that looks really good.

Compass --> hmm... the only good vfx sequences in the movie were the ones involving the Polar Bears and they were done by Framestore... Please take a look at that horrible looking golden monkey and tell me that R&H did a good job on it.... and please for the VFX oscars... Everyone pretty much agrees that they did not deserve it last year... maybe the votes got split between Transformers and Pirates3

hulk --> please don't judge anything before it comes out... and it doesn't look that good to begin with. just by toning down the green skin darker doesn't mean you are doing a better job at VFX

Lord of the rings --> sorry.. that was all Weta, specially 2nd and 3rd.. the 1st they had some help from DD

hmm.. anymore?

I'm extremely disappointed that they don't want to commit to doing the other four books. Maybe they could just do two movies and combine 'The Silver Chair' and 'A Horse and His Boy', and another for 'The Magician's Nephew', and 'The Last Battle'. I know those books are smaller, and slower... Maybe make each one one to one and a half hours each. That would save them money, but the fan's would be satisfied.

It makes me sad that studios value money over their fan's wishes. Although, this is nothing new. Movie studio exec's haven't had souls, common sense, or taste in decades.

First one was uninspiring dreck from Disney. The second looks like more of the same to me.

I always thought the Narnia books would make bad movies anyway. Perhaps if they had the weight of a visionary director they could be interesting? I dunno..

New trailer doesn't look too promising though...Yuck.

Ironman is going to kick many asses in these upcoming weeks, I'm afraid that cheesy CG lion is at the head of the line.

"By that I mean, hire a director with a distinct visual style. A Ridley Scott, Curaon or Del Toro could elevate the world that Adamson has so blandly created into something more memorable."

I can't imagine Ridley Scott taking this up, he doesn't do kid's films. As for Cuaron and Del Toro, they would probably want to make it a lot darker (same for Scott), which isn't what Walden Media and Disney would want at all.

This looks like a waste of time and money, what with Iron Man before and Indy IV after. The first one lacked any sense of character or style, and the story (haven't read the book) felt sterile and contrived compared to the likes of Pan's Labyrinth. It just felt like a B-movie.

i will definitely go...but I am starting to tire of the fantasy/magic movie genre, ironically its all I read in books. So if they stop at three I won't be too disappointed.

"Christopher Mark", I was/am also in love with that Narnia BBC miniseries, but I'm pretty sure that they only did four of the books (the same 3 disney will do + the silverchair). If i'm wrong PLEASE direct me to the other three BBC versions. Aslan was so badass on the BBC.

re: the disney version. the first one was fine, and I'm in for the next and any subsequent Narnia film. i'm just there to relive childhood tales. i doubt they'll ever surpass my expectations.

I enjoyed the first Narnia and probably will see this one. But I just don't think the film is being marketed properly. In addition with the summer being really packed, the film should have been pushed back to a November release. I don't see it doing that well in boxoffice unless the reviews are over the top.

shora:
what would you consider 1st rate studios? In my book R+H is definelty a first rate studio. Their work speaks for itself also (Narnia, Golden Compass, Incredible Hulk, Lord of the Rings ect.). They are direct competitors with ILM, Weta, ect.

Am I the only one who sees this movie getting lost in the shuffle? The first one was more successful b/c it was during the christmas season and featured some overtly christian messages (not saying theres a problem with that), and this one is apparently much darker, more adult and a week before Indiana Jones. 291 million is gonna be rough this time around.
