This movie is crap. That’s my review. The best words to describe this movie are predictable, old, tired, and boring. I love to see native tribesmen with stone weapons and masked skeleton faced grave people attacking Indy with sticks for no reason other than he needs someone to fight - how exciting. How about the red ant rip off of the Scorpion King beetles? How much less original could we get? And the giant alien head shaped magnetic skull! Could it have been any bigger or any more ridiculous? Why the hell was in magnetic? Or not magnetic because it attracted gold (for no good reason other than it was therefore magically special). What a bored tired plot - who didn’t know the skull opened the door to the skeleton alien men’s chamber? Which, by the way, looked like a bad Japanese Steak house. How many dumb questions are you left with - like who would only take one crystal skull and nothing else? Why not take the whole skeleton? Or maybe some treasures? Nah I want this skull. How about that legend of returning it and getting all powerful! Where did that come from because that’s not exactly what happens. Why did the crystal skull need to be “returned” and really - who gives a crap? Lucas and Spielberg must be getting Alzheimers. The dialogue was about as witty as a sleeping turd. The plot was nothing - “return the skull” WOW! How about predictability? A twenty minute car to car crash scene with machine guns and sword fighting. And yes, every bad accented hyper-stereotypical Russian bad mamma from the “B” movies of the seventies carries a sword and then (of course) Indy’s son is a sword fighter. Why not? We can’t think of anything original here. Three falls in a boat down a waterfall (that would have killed the aliens themselves) just so they could make a ride at Disney (could there be another explanation for them putting this boring predictable crap in there?). Hey, you got stuck in a tree - no problem. Why not swing with the monkies? Who will later attack your enemies! Who didn’t know that Shia LaBore was Indy’s (biker?) son? And how about that death defying descent down the predictable shrinking stone step stair case. Gee who knew they were gonna make it to that anti-climatic fall in to a puddle of water? Not me I thought they were all going to die right there. I went to see this based upon the previous Indy movies and Spielberg’s reputation for making really good movies. I like action as much as the next guy. But the same old formula gratuitous action with no plot - I’ll pass. I guess he’s lost his edge and I wish he would refund me my $50. He can afford it. If you’re out there Steven you can email me at hac5x3@aol.com for my address.

This Movie was ridiculous and i was really anxious to see it. I had a poor story line and it was just absurd, how can you put aliens in an indiana jones movie? I love the others but they crossed the line in this one.

The new film shows Lucas' strenght as a visionary, but weakness as a writer and story teller. What saves it is the great Spielberg visuals and Harrison Ford's film presence.
The film completes the mythological structure Lucas started with the first movie, but Lucas has fallen from the light, losing his faith in magical things.

Watched the movie tonight, even went with a very low expectation, I left the cinema somewhat disappointed for the following reasons: This movie is forgettable, there are some plot issues that doesn't separate well from one to another, and they do not connect well either, everything is like one big blur, so if all the actors and actresses did well, then who's fault is it? This is definitely NOT the best in the series, but the part with punching each other in the face between the Russian soldier and Indiana Jones over a very long period of time (no less than 3 minutes but felt like a next to forever 5 minutes) is definitely a problem. The problem: EDITING. I enjoyed the warehouse scene, as we all have been wondering what is with the warehouse since the original movie in the 1970's, but wouldn't everyone else have done more than just seeking the one single item in mind specially when you were told that this is the warehouse of the US secrets? That's just too much of a one track mind with me. The entrance of Karen Allen was just simply did her wrong, no matter how much I like her character and her acting, and her as a person. She came out from the tent and there she was, is that it? I can open my mind and accept the sword fight and the jungle chase, and all those other easy to predict things leading to the inside of the tomb with 13 sets of alien skeletons with one skull missing, but what pissed me off the most is the scene when the flying saucer was taking off, Indiana Jones didn't even bother to duck behind the large stone to his left when derbies was flying everywhere, totally unlike the original movie at the lost ark opening scene, "No matter what happens, don't open your eyes", which created the emotion that perhaps we should close ours either but of course we kept ours opened anyway. The ending is too convenient, Indiana Jones was getting married with no incident, and a too simple of a setup for Shia LaBeouf to be the next Indiana Jones, but yet didn't even bother to leave us a sense of hope nor any reason to hope that he would even be better the Harrison Ford Indiana Jones character, so if that is the case, why even bother to set him up and screw up the ending to begin with? Is Steven Spielberg loosing his creative mind and all he cares is to CASH IN on 30 years old previous accomplishments?

OMG.... watched this last night and it was dire.

Harrison looked great and after 10 mins I forgot his age and he was just Indy. But the storyline, what were they thinking when they penned that??

CGI fails wonderfully again, instead of real ants lets use computer ants and make so many of them that everybody knows straight away they are not real.

I thought the whole point of effects was to trick the audiance believe what they are seeing is real and not an effect.

I have to stop here, wasted oppurtunity this film. Why not hint at an Alien theme but mabye base the story around the Mayans alot more... as someone wrote above, there was no mystery to this film.

I live in Peru and Nazca Lines are not in CUSCO as in the movie says! and we dont listen to MEXICAN music and there are not pyramids like the MAYAS in Mexico. I have been in the jungle too, they could have researched more about our customs and where exactly the Nazca (or Nasca) lines are. They are in ICA not in cusco. jeez!

Very little originality
Too much comfort of the characters (Except Mutt Williams) He's always getting his ass wooped
My friend asked me "Did George Lucas go crazy?"
I don't think he is crazy.
I think him and spielberg tried too hard to get the point across that this is indiana jones
Once again little originality
That's what made the other movies stand out

This film didn't have that classic 'I hate nazis' theme.
It was all about the nazis vs indy the american archaeologist
I mean i thought the theme of the 50s and aliens and all that had an ok story plot, but there was no mystery left in the movie
See, an example would be Raiders of the lost ark
You have the ark then u have the bad guys racing indy to the ultimate treasure, then the bad guys get kicked in the ass by the treasure and it gets put away
Temple of doom: the stones are found and whats not important is dropped
Last Crusade: Grail found then dropped, but no knowing what came of it
There's always some mystery left, leaving us to think the rest

Even if I overlook the constant over-the-top scenes of the movie, and allow myself to accept the psychic/sci-fi basis of the story (which I can do), I can't like this movie. Those things are minor in my opinion. The really bad parts are how the movie started out, how the movie seemed to be made up of several unrelated movies, how the movie seemed to be a documentary of history for that time period rather than a self-contained adventure story, and how the over-the-top-ness was through the roof in terms of being ridiculous. Yeah, sure I expected things to be over-the-top but the monkeys and refrigerator did not contribute to the story. The story itself was ok, but the movie scenes didn't seem to want to support it. The scenes were ok but they seemed to be linked together by an inexperienced writer.

I wish I had read the reviews. I hope this movie doesn't make the top 10 list for best weekend opening movies. I actually left the movie before it was over, something I've done only once before. Maybe I'm getting smarter (in the past I always felt like I might miss something if I left early, but this time I knew I wasn't going to miss anything). I'm glad I missed the ending. I have no interest in ever seeing this movie again. Please, save your money for something more worthwhile, such as burning it to keep warm this winter when you can no longer afford heating oil.

Im sorry my idea of indiana Jones was all about the looking into something Holy something to worship something believable. This movie really missed the meaning behind indiana jones, however I do not think harrison ford was to old for the film I dont think he lost his touch at all, I think the problem was the movie itself was just so far fetched from the first 3. Im sorry indiana jones was never about aliens. They should have actually picked back up on the last crusades plot, which was by far the best indiana jones out of all of them. However I think the movie was actually pretty funny and really different from the first 3 but really was terrible compared to the first 3, the actors themselves were great besides the villian but the story was just dum and the scenes were not believable at all. I don't no, when you think george lucas and steven spielburg you think passion and something to look foward to going to see. I think they are the ones getting old here, not Harrison Ford, Harrison Ford is the best and never looked old in this movie, i dont no why people are saying that which isnt true at all. They should have actually named it something else rather then indiana jones 4. Well Im hoping for a indian jones 5 so they can sweep this disaster under the rug and start fresh. O and get a better villian, my God that girl was so terrible as a villian.

New Story Line!

Indiana Jone 5 Please bring back something believable about the grail.

Shih lebough was very good!

ditch all the actors besides indiana and shih !

I hope we dont have to wait another 19 years for another indiana film!

I just saw the film with my three year old and twelve year old, but left after one hour and demanded my money back after speaking with the manager. We could seven uses of the phrase "son of a bitch", countless damns, hells, and what sounded like the F word. The theme also gets seriously unfit for kids when it turns out the young kid in the film is revealed to be Indiana Jones by the Haggard and quite nasty looking Kate Capshaw. (Jessh lady, you ever heard of botox or face lifts). Two other parents also pulled their young children out of the movie. Definelty NOT suitable for kids unless you are already sensitised to the Jew movement of corrupting you and our children through direction of film

See my first review was correct and since you have all seen it now....why oh why oh why oh why oh why were there aliens and a flying saucer *begins to cry*.....end of the franchise. Hope Indies "son" (horrid plot twist) doesn't get his own movie like another young Indie.

Saw the film last night. Must admit I walked away very disappointed. Like many who've commented already, I grew up watching and loving the original Indy movies. This did not live up to the legacy at all.

The villain was a woman with a sword?? (Nothing against women with swords)...but that was best villain they could come up with?

If they wanted to stick with the '50s alien theme, they could have had Indy uncover Russian government secrets and cover-ups of mysterious alien stuff in a race to stop the Russian bad guys from finding them first and prevent them from carrying out some evil, dastardly deed. Of course throw in some archaeological research, amazing discoveries and clever puzzle solving along the way, mixed with a lot of danger.

The best part of the plot was that "Mutt" was actually Indy's son, and that was only brought to the audience's attention for what...five minutes?

There were some good references back to previous Indy movies, but they only served to reassure the audience that "OK, I guess this IS an Indy movie after all...I wouldn't have known."

The other movies were so great! What went wrong this time!?

This movie was god-awful, horrible!!!! It was one of the worst movies ever made.

Steven Spielberg can put it next to A.I. and Goonies on his list of "gems".

I kept half-expecting jar-jar binks to walk in at some point and say, "Me-suh jar-jar, you-suh Doctor Jones".
