Details on the X-Files sequel X-Files: I Want To Believe have been almost nonexistant, until now. The film’s plot has leaked out as part of a preview for the film’s movie novelization written by Max Allan Collins. Here is the short semi-spoilerish synopsis:
Mulder and Scully are back in the thrilling novelization of the summer 2008 blockbuster movie based on the classic X-Files TV show! When a group of women are abducted in the wintry hills of rural Virginia, the only clues to their disappearance are the grotesque human remains that begin to turn up in snow banks along the highway. With officials desperate for any lead, a disgraced priest’s questionable “visions” send local police on a wild goose chase and straight to a bizarre secret medical experiment that may or may not be connected to the women’s disappearance. It’s a case right out of The X-Files. But the FBI closed down its investigations into the paranormal years ago. And the best team for the job is ex-agents Fox Mulder and Dr. Dana Scully, who have no desire to revisit their dark past. Still, the truth of these horrific crimes is out there somewhere…and it will take Mulder and Scully to find it! (120/0-06-168771-5) (C: 0-1-2) SC, 7×10, 336pgs, FC SRP: $7.99
Who knows if this is actually real or not, but the storyline seems to match with the footage shown at WonderCon. I could also be another planned fake leak to further throw fans off. What do you guys think?

Sounds legit to me but at the same time it also doesn’t sound that interesting.

Secret medical experiments? I’m in! Sounds very X Files-ish.
Don’t know if it is legit, but it definitely sounds like it could be.
I WANT TO BELIEVE!!!!

This is legit.
“could also be another planned fake leak to further throw fans off”
To throw fans off from what? It’s not like there’s a plethora of spoilers out there.
This is legit.

This movie is 10 years too late.
I’ve seen the show in reruns. It’s was a good show, but nobody talks about it. I might be the only one of my friends to have seen an episode. For real. And that’s only because I’m a scifi tv and film junkie. I just don’t see a lot of teens panting for this movie.

Sorry, why is this being made?
Also I sincerely hope this isn’t taking any time away from the production of Californication season 2….

They drove the series into the ground and now they expect me to pay to see it? No way. Nuh uh… Not gonna happen. I didnt watch the season finally of the xfiles… so Im certainly not gonna go pay to see this bag of infectious human waste.
This series is dead to me.

The movie is being made because that is what Chris Carter wanted. He never wanted to settle for just one movie. -shrugs- I know I’ll be seeing this movie when it comes out to theaters.
As for the message from M&Co.- I don’t think it will interfere with your next season as the filming has already wrapped up (…last month to be exact)

Sounds fake, considering that Carter originally said, at one point, that this movie was to take place before season 7(or 8, whenever the series went from hokey to downright horrible) when they were still very much in the FBI…

So, is it just me or does this seem like a lead-in to a new X-Files series??? The timing of this movie doesn’t seem right…X-Files has been out of the mainstream for at least 1/2 a decade and is nowhere near as marketable as Iron Man or any of the other sci-fi/comic book/fantasy films. HOWEVER, if news of a new X-Files TV series breaks (with much of the original cast and Chris at the creative helm) and THIS movie is the one that starts it all back up, then it could prove to be a sleeper box office hit. Heck, none of the original stars have done anything REALLY interesting…or good and maybe they need to realize that they are the products of the X-Files and need to go back to square one.

I’m getting the vibe that this movie is cooling off way before its even released… the marketing is completely missing, the “suspense” Carter has been trying to produce seems silly and only produces the sensation of a light poor written plot. Nonetheless hope im wrong cause i was a big fan of the show.

from the trailers it looks like the black oil coming out/ going into that white haired mans eyes

I could not agree more. They need to bring back the TV series…
David has 5-10 years left at best to play Mulder. There was nothing like it on, and has been nothing like it since (best attempt goes to Supernatural though)
I watch my X-Files Seasons (1-7) twice per year. Be nice to add to them again!

Plot seems legit. From interviews of the cast back a few months, they led to the fact scully and mulder would be at the right point in their lives… meaning retired.
Don’t keep your hopes up. They will not bring back the series.
Its over. Based on the last episode the alien invasion would take place in 2012. The lure of this Sci-Fi show is that you never really get the full truth on the aliens. If they were to break into the actual alien invasion the show would lose its appeal.
They need to keep us guessing. This movie is just a money maker, I’m sure it will be good… but for sure the last of new x-files.
