If the movie can capture the essence of the Spirit's recooperative physical prowess (Nobody took an asswhipping like the spirit and bounce back to return the favor) Then we will have a winner. The Spirit's appeal was his Mike Hammer/Everyman cool.

Oh, one more thing.
If Lions Gate wants the next comic book hero to bring to the big screen here he is..."DEAD MAN"
Guaranteed to be a box office hit just as I'm sure "IRONMAN" will be once it hits theatres.

Deadman is a ghost, formerly a circus trapeze artist named Boston Brand who performed under the name Deadman. When Brand is murdered during a trapeze performance by a mysterious assailant known only as the Hook, his spirit is given the power to possess any living being by a Hindu goddess named Rama Kushna, in order to search for his murderer and obtain justice. It is established in Green Arrow Vol 4, #4, that Deadman believes Rama is the supreme being of the universe.
Check him out here:

By the way..."IRON MAN" will prove to be the next BIG HIT once it comes out.
If Lions Gate wants a head up on what would be the next big COMIC BOOK to bring to the big screen that guaranteed to be a solid hit here it is for them and all readers to check out...Its; "DEAD MAN" and he's a ghost, formerly a circus trapeze artist named Boston Brand who performed under the name Deadman, a stage persona including a red costume and white corpse makeup.
Now here is a story screaming to be made and who would be the ideal actor to play him...???
who else but Nicholas Cage.

Check Deadman out here:

I have to agree with McFly,
I also grew up reading the comic book "The Spirit" and had this followed the comic book it would be a hit.
I doubt it will follow the comic book much if any other than the title so it will be a flop in my opinion. Too bad. :(

needs more character/art - less big words. I think that it's probably a good choice to use the similar red lettering, but c'mon, if Frank Miller is the man on this one, this thing should feature some "sick" Frank Miller art.

I can just see the tag line...

" From the makers of SIN CITY......"

Poster is just ok. Kinda reminds me of a 1st year graphic design project.

It's so painfully obvious that the majority of the fanboys have never even laid an eye on WILL EISNER'S THE SPIRIT comics. This poster is NOTHING like the SPIRIT.

It's too bad that so many have yet to experience the comics; because if they did, there would be such an uproar of protest how Frank Miller is mucking this up.

You're getting a slight "Darkman" vibe? Are you also getting a slight "The Shadow" vibe? Or maybe a "Philip Marlowe" vibe? Or maybe a vibe for anything that contains a Man, a Fedora, and a Trench Coat?
