Has Terminator 4 been Terminated? UGO’s Movie Blog claims that a crew member “was recently overheard discussing his newfound free schedule due to the production shutting down.” For now we’ll mark this rumor as unconfirmed and hope for clarification, confirmation, or denial from the Halcyon Company in the coming days.
I was actually pretty excited for the fourth film in the franchise. The producers involved seemed to have a clearly laid out plan for a new trilogy. And while many have prune-faced director McG, most have praised the casting of Christian Bale as John Connor, Anton Yelchin as Kyle Reese, Avatar’s Sam Worthington, and Josh Brolin rumored to be on board as the Terminator.
Production is (or maybe was) set to begin later this month at Budapest Korda Studios. Terminator 4 is scheduled to hit theaters on May 22nd 2009.
Discuss: Do you want them to make a Terminator 4?

I hope it’s canned.

I’m a Cameron fan and I hated the idea for a long time. Christian Bale as John Connor changed my mind. Someone at Bale’s status leads me to believe this is something special.
I don’t care for McG as a director ,but I’m willing to be surprised
April 18th, 2008 at 1:52 am
It could be because 2009 is flooded with releases. I hope it’s not totally canceled, because the studio needs to make up for T3. I think it was about time to screw going back in time and sticking with the future. Some of the best moments in the first movie was Cameron’s nightmarish view of the post-nuclear holocaust. If it’s problems with the script or director I could understand. Isn’t there a strike happening over the summer, I thought that was why Barbarella hadn’t started production. Maybe this is the reason for the rumor, I was under the impression it would start production as well in the summer.

my only reservations were:
-McG (aside from his shitty directing, who the fuck calls themself that?)
-the rumor that john conner wouldn’t be a main character (a 20 year build-up to be…a supporting player?!)
but bale & brolin are on a roll, so if they’re in, i’m in.

Dude, if they film this off US soil, the bitch director won’t do it. He’s afraid of planes remember?
April 18th, 2008 at 2:03 am
McG doesn’t dig planes, just move this film to New Zealand and we’re gold.
April 18th, 2008 at 2:05 am
Laz-E: With the American dollar where it is, I’ve heard its now cheaper to film stateside with ta breaks than in the usual countries. Of course I don’t have any real facts to back up this claim, that’s just what some of my friends in Hollywood have said.
April 18th, 2008 at 2:07 am
Good, I’m glad it’s canceled. Christian Bale or no, you can’t make a Terminator movie without Arnie (especially with McG at the reins) Look what happened when they made a Predator movie without him…
April 18th, 2008 at 2:10 am
peter,
No, you’re right. I’ve heard that too, it was just an excuse to get..god I hate saying his name, McG, to direct.
But alas, US soils us again. No pun.
April 18th, 2008 at 2:20 am
last time i remembered, McG made bubblegum type action flicks called charlie’s angels. anyways, with an amazing cast, im a bit curious what McG has instore.
i could careless if Cameron has nothing to do with it but without the governor of california, it wouldnt be the same. but josh brolin…sure, im down.
April 18th, 2008 at 4:05 am
I guess McG just in for a ride of the next T-series even after a huge let down on T3
(what were they thinking?).
Anyway the Sarah Connor chronicle have not yet let me down so far, lot’s of homage to T2, opening up so many options and possibilities of where the Terminator series could go (quit impressive for a low budget drama).
Terminator somehow reminds me of the Alien, some episode did well some while the other is just utter disastrous and even after huge critics from the fan, it keeps on going series after series.
Who knows, It might be the same for the Terminator.
April 18th, 2008 at 4:46 am
Brolin as the terminator would AWESOME!!!!!
April 18th, 2008 at 6:07 am
Nah, Hungarian shooting was cancelled, they’re supposedly shooting in New Mexico. Or they were going to, at least.

(In Hungarian, sorry.)

I thought that the TV show was good. Fox should renew it, and focus on that for now. I don’t think that there’s a burning desire out there for Terminator, where we need films and TV. Without Bale attached to this project it’s just not that appealing.
April 18th, 2008 at 6:47 am
THERE IS NO REASON that a digital version of Schwarzenegger’s face cannot be on every cyborg in the films. Imagine a field of 100+ Schwarzeneggers attacking at the same time. That would be awesome.
Producers: forget that idiot Brolin, go scan Arnie’s face (if you haven’t already), and get to work.
April 18th, 2008 at 6:51 am
Better yet: Imagine Arnie, the liquid metal T-1000, and the female T-X working TOGETHER to fight humans in the future.
That would be a movie worth $10.
April 18th, 2008 at 7:06 am
female t-x?
cameron? otherwise Im not sure what you mean
Loved Terminator 1 and 2 and the 3rd one (The Sarah Connor Chronicles)
although I was worried about this project I’d still would love to see Bale as John Connor and Brolin as a terminator would be awesome
The more Reese the Better

That concept art at the top of this article is very, very cool.
April 18th, 2008 at 8:32 am
It would if it was concept art. I’m pretty sure it’s from a Terminator game released around the time of T3.
April 18th, 2008 at 8:34 am
Scott,
That’s from the failed Terminator game that came out some time ago using the Battlefield engine. And it was glorious in how bad it was.
:P
April 18th, 2008 at 8:49 am
I had thought they were filming in New Mexico, one of the latest hot spots for movies due to the tax breaks and other candy the state’s been handing out?
April 18th, 2008 at 8:55 am
Any new Terminator sequels without Linda Hamilton as Sarah Connor, are worthless.
So, please, NO T4 UNLESS THEY BRING HER BACK!!!!!
April 18th, 2008 at 8:55 am
Isn’t it possible that they just pushed back the shoot date because of the now-more-likely SAG strike? I read yesterday that SAG has already signed interim agreements with 9 productions, in anticipation of a strike.
April 18th, 2008 at 9:12 am
I hope this rumor is true. Even with a good cast
McG at the helm makes it a definite NO. Man,
he produces nothing but crap.
April 18th, 2008 at 9:27 am
Yes I’m glad it might be canceled. No Arnold in the film I just don’t see it working. In addition T3 wasn’t that good, because James Cameron wasn’t envolved. This film doesn’t need to be made.
April 18th, 2008 at 12:03 pm
Bale is nothing without the Governor…..
April 18th, 2008 at 12:22 pm
YAY!!!!
April 19th, 2008 at 6:30 am
Man they better make that trilogy.
They better!
April 19th, 2008 at 11:34 pm
I know the first two were the best(they should had stop there) ,but we need to see the other side of the story.I know I’m crazy, but I want to go see it.^-^
April 23rd, 2008 at 1:23 pm
My husband and I just got a postcard yesterday from a friend who is working on the film. It is filming in New Mexico.
