Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

USA Today has published an article on Harrison Ford which features the new photo from Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (as seen above). The article is pretty boring for the most part, except for the one sentence where Harrison Ford tells the newspaper that “he also might consider a fifth installment of Indiana Jones, though he hopes it wouldn’t take 20 years to pull together.” Indiana Jones 5?

Discuss: Should Harrison Ford do an Indiana Jones 5? Or should Crystal Skull be Indy’s Last Crusade?

  • I've said it before, and I'll say it again... If it's got Harrison Ford with a hat and whip, I'm fucking in!
  • I should amend that statement...

If Jar Jar Binks makes an appearance (and no, Shia LeBouffant doesn't count), I'd reconsider my plan to watch Indiana Jones 4+n.
  • Matt
Absolutely, though if by some fluke Indy 4 sucks ass then we might want to end things here of course, maybe that's the reason to do another one. You know, end it with a good one!

P.S. In no way do I think Crystal Skull looks bad, just sayin'
  • Captain Awesome
Didn't people want "new" Star Wars films. And look what we got.

I personally think it should be the last film.
  • Gimme more more more!

In my opinion they could make a new trilogy, as they are able to get hold of the quality.
  • Zany
Indy 4 should be the last.
  • Eric
Why stop something so good? Just stop when it sucks
  • fanboy d
i like the idea of a swan song for indy...but if they wanted to make another good movie, let 'em.
  • tobor68
after 20 years, there's never enough indy.

i hope he makes them till he drops. i trust spielberg. his worst stuff is equal to most directors best effort.
  • Matt
@ Matt - Damnit Matt there's two of us, we've gotta figure this out... most common name of 1985
  • Pete
Not happening any time soon. George has a little break in between Star Wars, to make an Indy film. He'll be busy with the live action Star Wars & Clone Wars cartoon for the next five years. By then Ford will be around 70.
  • A.J.
You can't have enough Indy. They should keep makin these movies as long as they can. I'd love more sequels to this and many others like Die Hard, Lethal Weapon, Bad Boys, and the Bourne movies.
  • charles
IF Indy 4 is good, then yes I would like to see another one. But it would have to come out by 2010. Harrison is getting a bit old for this shit.
  • Truecoat
Well, since he did three to begin with, why can't Crystal Skull be the first of another trilogy? They do need ideas for stories though and Lucas thought it was tapped out with this one.
  • OK...Indy 5? Yes! Remember, people. The first and most important thing of a film is the story and big screen experience. Sure the last 3 Star Wars films had their awkward moments in regards to script, a bad CG character (Jar-Jar), and worse, some bad acting. However, the core story and big screen experience of watching those films with an expensive tub of popcorn and a soda are second-to-none. There is a lot (and I MEAN ALOT) of crap out there on TV and in the cinema that don't have a good story, good score, or a good anything for that matter, and since FEW OF THE CURRENT (NEW) FILMMAKERS are trying to create original blockbuster big screen experiences geared towards a multi-generational audience, then I commend Mr. Spielberg and Lucas for keeping the torch lit and forging new adventures through the cavernous film industry.
  • @Thumb. Amen.

Also, I think a Quintology makes more sense than a Quadrilogy or whatever-the-hell the words are.

Stopping at 4 is lame. See 'Lethal Weapon', which should have stopped at 2.
  • Mark
Not only do I think there will be a 5th but a 6th as well.
  • Nathan
They can do an Indiana 5 so long as Shia LeBouf isn't in it. The only way I will see it is if he is not in it, or if he spends the entire movie being slowly tortured and killed. My god people he like the Will Wheaton of this generation.
  • Jerry
Ford doing this movie is nothing more than him trying to pay for his divorce.

Ford is way too old to do this and the trailers clearly show a pathetic OLD man trying to act like he is 30. Embarrassing!!
  • Jerry
The movie is going to try and justify itself by making "old jokes" through out. LeBouf in it will only make it look more ridiculous than it sounds.

This is clearly a case of "staying at the party too long" for Ford.

It is very clear that people in Hollywood have no idea when to quit and to have a real good movie career legacy. Instead they just sell out and look like greedy pricks. haha.. F this movie. The only good one was the first one. The rest blew!
  • Joey
Are you serious? YOu actually think Last Crusade.... as you so elequently put it... Blew? Wow, you have problems.
HArrison can be Indy till he's 80 for all I care, just so long as he has a decent script. I would like them to get on the ball while he's still believable in action. I don't like it to get TOO camp, however, so lets not make him invincable. Stratagey, suprise.... those were his things... that and luck.
  • Mr. Veoh
I personally cannot wait for the release of Indy 4. These films are classics, I know bringing it back must have been a good script to deal with. It took a long time for them to make it perfect, if they decide to make a fifth, it just won't be as good, cause the script would need to be written in a certain time.

I doubt they will make Indy 5. But if they do, consider me the first one to the theater. I am loyal to my Indy films.
  • Victor
    LUCA$ = Two Trilogies.

    thats how lucas gets down.

    bring it on.
  • Trebek
I don't even really think they should have made Indy 4. The Last Crusade really should have been his last crusade. I love Indiana Jones as much as the next guy, but I think they should have just left it a trilogy.

That being said, I hope the 4th is at least an OK film...Though I have my doubts...
  • w.i.n
I'd definitely like to see a fifth installment. :)
  • i hope to see 5th indy and 10th and as much they can make
  • Jessie
Indiana Jones is the last “classic” action hero in my view, 20years is a long time between films, but the character of Indy symbolises a time of adventure and fun. Why not reintroduce the classic character to younger generations if Harrison Ford wants to make more Indy Films I will be there to watch them I feel Indiana Jones has just been rediscovered and will once more WOW audience’s world wide
  • Frank
Regardless of Ford's age, most people are interested in what happens to Indiana Jones, the character. Growing older is a part of life...so seeing where he is twenty years down the line is completely plausible and fun. You can not stay young forever.

And actually, THAT is what's more appealing to me about this film, regardless of the Crystal Skull storyline.
  • i want to see a 5th 6th and as much the can create!!!!!!!!!!!!i love indy harrison ford forrever!!!!!!!!! indiana jones forrever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! why some of you dont want to see another trilogy???????????someone just give me a reason !!!!!!!!!!whitout indy what are we going to do????????? can you imagine someone else the harrison on indy's role??????? anyway harrison forrever indiana jones forever !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would love to see Ford do a fith Indiana Jones. I personally think that since they've successfully come to terms with letting Indy go on more than just a trilogy of adventures (and rightly so!), they should make two more films at least. This way they could fully explore Indy's globetrotting adventures throughout the 50's. Seriously folks, by my math we should really be on Indiana Jones 8 by now. So, please, please, please go beyond part 4. The audience has paid its dues after a 19 year wait. In fact, go ahead and film parts 5 and 6 back-to-back, seeing as how it takes so much effort to get the Indy trinity together- Ford, Lucas, and Spielberg.
  • Am I the only one that wants Shorty brought Back?
  • lovely
    yyeeeeeeeeesssssssssss!!!!!
is sooooo want a 5th indiana jones movie! i love indiana jones .
i thought he was hot in the trilogy.... :)
  • ant
Harrison Ford should DEFINATELY do Indiana Jones #5! Has he proved us wrong in The Raiders Of The Lost Ark, The Temple Of Doom or The Last Crusade? That Shia guy is set to give a mind-blowing performance as Indy's son - so he should consider the sequals as well. Come on, can the world get enough of Indiana Jones? NO!
  • Rip
I think it would be awesome if they did another trilogy set to Indiana Jones. I know I'd be up for it. I've loved the films since I was in diapers and its inspired my deep affection for the field of Archaeology (even though the depiction of the field in the films is far from accurate, its still inspired me! The same way the VG version of Lara Croft does.)

If they do it, I'll see it. I'm eager to see #4 next week, and I'm hoping Shia LaBeouf's performance is as enjoyable as his other roles, I'll dig it even more :)
  • big indy fan
i think they should make a 5th film indy rules i think this film will be just as good as the originals judging by the trailer for it
  • Indy Forever
I wish Indiana Jones could go on forever, and I will be watching #4 and should there be #5 I will be there. But maybe he needs to have a long lost son, who can carry on the tradition. These are great adventures for young and old alike. I've been watching them for the past 20 years and I still get thrilled.
  • Brian
Indiana Jones 5 - with whip in one hand and cane in the other, Indy swings his cane by mistake and falls into the pit... heh...
  • indianajones

    i cant wait
    indiana jones foreverrrrrrrr
can anyone here imagine someone else than harrison ford as indy ?
i cant and i think most of you will agree with me
  • Sacha
Saw the film yesterday ending was a little weak, thou If they do do a 5th one I`m still gonna be in with a heart beat
  • ry0n
Keep 'em comin! Just got out of IJ4 & I was not let down. Well...for the most part, the ending kinda blew, but that car chase through the jungle was fuckin wicked!
  • Just saw Indy4 and feel it's a great 4th movie, an enjoyable theater experience that feels like the others but may not match recent movie styles and therefore disappoint. Helps that I saw it in the classic Fremont Theater in SLO seating near 1000 people.....Keep bringing the Indy films as long as the crew keeps to the legend of the old films: live stunts, "matte paintings," real film, tributes to iconic films of the era depicted (serials & b-films), and makes the three men happy..THANK YOU LUCAS, STEVEN & FORD
  • michal
iv just come back from this film im a big fan of the old 1s and its no die hard i love the die hard 4 it keeped evry thing the new indy film it changed it tryed to be funny to much but soon as Shia LeBouffant enterd he gave it a new life in witch it can grow bigger i hope they bring it back for more as i think Shia LeBouffant cud carry it on he is a great actor and if mr ford joins in the new films the better
  • A cheese-covered orgy of bad ideas.

Indiana Jones rocks and a fifth movie would be something to look forward to...He might be getting a bit old but I hope that when I grow up to be his age to have the energy that Harrison has portraying the one and only Indiana Jones so I say Why not Keep up the good work and make another one soon.

    Thanks George and Steve!!

I admire Harrison Ford tremendously. The film works precisely because he does not take himself too seriously and he looks great. He keeps himself very fit and there is absolutely nothing wrong at all with an older action hero as long as he does it with a sense of hmour as Ford does.Well done.
