Paramount just released this new one-sheet for The Incredible Hulk, the increasingly gossiped over Marvel Studios reboot opening June 13th. The first sentence in a recent NY Times article on the movie’s “desperate” need to become a hit was: “Bad Buzz.” Wow. This poster on the other hand, featuring a shoe-gazing, denim-loving Edward Norton/Bruce Banner and the looming back of The Hulk, is not bad, above average even. Look at those tiny army tanks. Man in suit?
Still, such a poster would have worked better the first go around, but after Ang Lee’s flick, TIH’s marketing needs a fantastic hook to get audiences to line up. Something semi-ridiculous like Hulk vs MEG would have had people forgetting their troubles and spilling popcorn as they screamed “Dude” in three languages. Instead, Marvel’s placing their chips on a rumored 25-minute fight outside The Apollo. Good enough?
Non-watermarked poster image thanks to IMPAwards.

You’d think with the computer knowledge these CG artists have. They’d use guys who know how to use Photoshop.
I can almost hear the sad TV ending piano music through that Canadian tuxedo Norton has on.

THAT. POSTER. IS. AWESOME.
April 14th, 2008 at 4:02 pm
looks awful. but yes, it grabs attention.
April 14th, 2008 at 4:03 pm
Come june 13 every one will rip this movie to shreds. I can feel it. Even movie bloggers like this site will rip it apart because everyone has been won over by iron man and other movies coming out.
April 14th, 2008 at 4:15 pm
Good God, that’s ridiculous.
April 14th, 2008 at 4:16 pm
How do his pants get that big? I know Ed Norton is 6′ tall, but still, those pants wouldn’t stretch THAT large.
The movie looks dumb, but I will probably still see it.

Daniel,
Those are designer jeans you can find at the Superhero Big & Tall.

Now THAT is a blockbuster poster! Finally.
The trailer let me down. I was totally not feeling it, but hot damn that poster is KILLER!
Now if they can only deliver a better trailer, I can get on board this thing.

Nice denim jacket you have there, Bruce.
I am also excited for this film, just because I am incredibly sick of the invasive Dark Knight marketing.
April 14th, 2008 at 7:10 pm
Awesome poster but jeez looks like they bumped up the skin texture. It’s almost in your face.
April 14th, 2008 at 7:13 pm
Speaking of Ang Lee, he’ll be at Ebertfest screening of all things: The Hulk.
April 14th, 2008 at 8:24 pm
Well, the poster looks great but it sort of reminds me of the poster from the movie Godzilla.
April 14th, 2008 at 10:41 pm
Bruce Banner loves the Denim Tuxedo.
I’m in it for the Roth truth be told… I hear his cgi stunt double gets shot in the stomach by some bitch in a ford POS.
April 14th, 2008 at 11:26 pm
@Captain Awesome
You are truly a master of words. Thank you for “Canadian tuxedo,” eh?

April 15th, 2008 at 9:43 am
That sucks big time, looks to generic, nothing impresive about it.
April 15th, 2008 at 9:49 am
It looks like the hulk has light emitting from his pants!
April 15th, 2008 at 11:05 am
Too bad the “Canadian Tuxedo” line was ripped from ‘Super Troopers’
April 15th, 2008 at 11:46 am
Norton actually wrote this one, so I’m gonna put my faith in it. That is, until I see something that makes me think otherwise.
April 15th, 2008 at 1:04 pm
the poster looks good.
the movie….
April 15th, 2008 at 1:10 pm
OK, this is really meant to appeal to fans of the TV show, which is fine (I count myself among that group), but the Hulk has had so much better imagery used over the years, that would work for comics books fans and movie fans alike. How about a nice action pose? The Hulk, throwing, stomping, crushing, or somehow mangling something to show off his hulking size, his hulking strength, or his hulking… Hulkiness? At least give me the old Hulk title crushing the image effect.
April 15th, 2008 at 6:31 pm
Edward Norton is the only good actor in this movie that can make me watch it.
Too bad he needs the money so desperately, so that he plays in action movies instead of real intellectual novels.
April 15th, 2008 at 7:40 pm
Why is staring in an action movie a sign of desperation? Somestimes you are Stallone, sometimes Eastwood. Maybe he thought the movie had potential.
And there are comics that are real intellectual pieces of literature. Novels are not the only written media worthy of respect. Don’t get me wrong, the Hulk is rarely if ever something that most people would consider as art, but just because the movie is based on a comic, I don’t think it is a fact that it will not be intellectual, or not be a good project for an excellent actor.
To be fair, this movie looks somewhat crappy, but still.
April 16th, 2008 at 4:41 am
It looks like the helicopters are all shining their search beams at Hulk’s package.
April 16th, 2008 at 5:04 am
Hi there,
first part when I say what i think and that’s in the end only relevant to me

Why do all of you people hate this movie so much!!Give this it a chance! By the way the reason why trailer did not look good was because the special effects werent done yet!
May 5th, 2008 at 10:38 am
I didn’t realize they were making a part 2 and after this article I read up and not only is the poster powerful, but so is the new plot
July 11th, 2008 at 9:18 pm
