hey...it's all good...keep the remakes coming!!! I grew up in the 80's, pratically living in those old gothic, grudge theaters....(my parents would drop me off and I would movie hop all day...totally a movie nerd..!!!...these were the freakin' BEST times of my life...!) I remember WAITING OVER AN HOUR to see Friday the 13th pt 2...and two hours to catch THE FINAL CHAPTER...IN A LINE THAT WRAPPED AROUND THE THEATERS HERE IN good old BALTIMORE....back than, it was like the opening of a 'new' roller coaster...or a 'forbidden' event that only those 'brave' anough would go to....STOP...I'm getting excited. Anyway, let's just say I wasn't that kid that wanted to sit thru 'BACK to the Future' or ', 'Weird Science' ,'the Breakfast Club'...or God help me...the 'Breakin' movies.......No.....forever 70'S and 80'S HORROR...it seems the Slasher Film is giving 'Star Wars' a run for it's money!!!! I remember like yesterday, cutting last period in middle school so I could catch a bus to see Friday the 13th;A New Beginning...God, ...the good old days!!! I'm still there dude....soooo keep the remakes coming....all it does is make curious folks want to maybe see what these old movies are about...and that's kool!!!! Unfortunatly, I didn't get too see 'the HOUSE ON SORORITY ROW' at the theater....but I walked several miles to hit the corner Pop Video store..every day to 'load' up on those suckers...recorded them...and 'watched' them like crazy!!! I LOVE THE HOUSE ON SORORITY ROW.....!!! I LOVE EILEEN DAVIDSON who plays the bitch...and the whole creepy idea of this deformed man lurking in the attic, waiting to 'avenge' his mother's death..........HOUSE/ROW IS DEFINATELY ONE OF THE BETTER SLASHER films from the 80's....but than...I LOVED HALLOWEEN THREE:SEASON OF THE WITCH...(and it's hard to find a Buddy who liked it)...I think I just have a soft spot for anything churned out during that time...TERROR TRAIN rules, original PROM NIGHT, HELL NIGHT, ONE DARK NIGHT, BLOODY VALENTINE,FOG, FINAL EXAMS, THE MUTILATOR,JUST BEFORE DAWN..(one of my favorites)..and of course the BREEDER that started it all.HALLOWEEN..BLACK CHRISTMAS,TEXAS CHAINSAW....and....(Freddy's okay...but that's when the SLASHER genre started to become very commercial)...and that freakin' CROPSY from the BURNING scared the shit out of me at this old 'creepy, dark' theater...I'll never look at garden shears the same way...or a wooden raft floating in zee water.......but...my all time favorite is TOBE HOOPER'S THE FUNHOUSE....thats the one that did it to me..HARD..!!.....I left the theater back in 1981 with my mom and cousin...(which has NOW...GO FIGURE...BEEN TURNED INTO A FREAKIN' CHURCH!)...I left that place...but really didn't...I was still creatively , at that carnival with those four teens...spending the night in the FUNHOUSE...'LIZ...watch out for that TRAP door!!!'......those years have inspired me to direct low-budget horror films...so I wasn't just a geek glued to the screen......anyway.....WHY NOT...remake these cult little gems......oh...and please TRY to GET OVER the PG-13 ratings.....wasn't that what the later 80'S slashers were anyway...?...the CENSOR BOARD butuchered those films..and the 'cut scenes' very rarely even made it video...hmmmmm...? Besides, I'm over all the buckets of blood and nasty torture....with 'HOSTEL' and the remake of ROB ZOMBIE'S HALLOWEEN.....I had my share of gore...I mean come on ROB....YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING....I'LL TAKE JAMIE LEE CURTIS strolling down a sidewalk with P.J. SOLES for ten minutes over any 'TRAILER TRASH' version of MYERS...anyday.........LESS IS BEST......that's my opinion anyway..thanks for reading......and now it's time to 'MURDER' my HOUSE MOTHER and dump her in the SWIMMING POOL...!!....I HAVE A PARTY TO GO TO on SORORITY ROW.......OH YEA....watch out for THE PROWLER...he's pissed at Rosemary....!!

What exactly was the original trying to say about the early '80s?

I remember this film. The old days when video was exciting. Thought it was quite good...remember the ending fondly. Look foward to a sequel

i think the key to a remake is to take it seriously.

For example: even though rob zombie's Halloween didn't please all, you just know he honored/treasured the original, and respected the material/carpenter enough to give it his best. i think alot of these prom nights, amitiville horror, hitcher, etc, are being looked at like: make the same film, just add 2008 style/effects/cast to it. thus making for a disasterous snore fest.

they gotta look at what the original film was trying to say about the world during it's time period, and therein lies the succesful formula. it'll open more doors to the plot as a whole.

The teenie-bopper horror hymen was popped along time ago and has now become the inevitable loose object of loathing that nobody wants.
