And the Speed Racer pre-release marketing won’t stop. Warner Bros has released another 4-minute long featurette that includes a ton of new footage intercut with cast and crew interviews. I’d say more, but I’ve already said enough in the 4-Minute movie trailer post from earlier today. Check it out below.
Watch the new featurette in High Definition on Apple.com. Speed Racer hits theaters on May 9th.

I’m actually starting to get interested, i’ll watch it just for the fun, I don’t need it to be the next citizen kane.

As much as I hated earlier trailers, it…beginning to grow on me…O.O

erm.. this is like the edge of wacky-ness… everything just seem so damn over the top.. i was like ‘wtf’ all the way through…
i admit its something different and diff is always good… but man

Cue a half dozen “the first trailer looked stupid, but the new footage has me interested” comments.

@PILL
I disagree. I was more interested when the project was more of an enigma. And though I didn’t share Peter’s trepidation about the film-I think I’m starting to now. I’ll still watch it but it’s pushing the limits on what I think I’ll be able to forgive going in…

Thats why I hate the internet. It’s a bunch of bang waggon jumping people. The moment people think something looks stupid, everyone yells out “LAME, GAY, STUPID.”
The moment someone higher then them says “Cool!”
they all go “Actually, IT IS PRETTY SWEET.”
This happens fucking everywhere Pill, so be prepared for a lot more to come.

Whoa so Rex Racer is in this too but as a different guy? Even though Racer X is supposed to be his older brother?! Unless it’s one of those “when they were younger scenes or they just cut the umbilical on Racer X being his older brother…

@dan
I think that might be true considering its happened with every post at SlashFilm about Speed Racer.
My question has always been, what is so different in these new trailers/footage that has swayed people? What have we seen throughout all of the trailers: extremely stylized CG effects (that have not changed in quality/look/development from the first trailer), fast and quick cuts of race scenes, the same stars, a few different one-liners I suppose, a consistent display of the film’s look and feel… the music maybe?
I’m honestly confused at what exactly people are seeing now that is so exciting that the first trailer didn’t do for them. After I saw the first trailer I thought it looked so fun and different that I didn’t understand the negative criticism, and now I am constantly seeing these “oh, this is looking better” comments.

Poor Emile Hirsch. They are marketing Speed Racer, not him. Must suck working as an actor and not having you name used in the marketing for it. He should complain.

Fuck, I love Ricci
