An exhibitor who has seen a small portion of Tropic Thunder reveals that the new Ben Stiller film will actually feature three fake movie trailer (ala Grindhouse). The one he had the chance to see, called Satan’s Alley, opened with the Fox Searchlight logo and featured Robert Downey Jr. and Spider-Man star Tobey Maguire. Apparently the other two trailer will also have non Paramount logos, which is kinda interesting since the film was produced by DreamWorks/Paramount.
During the Tropic Thunder theatrical trailer, Ben Stiller’s character Speedman is seen holding two huge guns (seen above) while delivering the line “Who Left The Fridge Open”, likely part of one of the other trailers. It’s unclear if any of these movie trailers will play before the Dreamworks/Paramount logo opens the film, although that would be awesome if it did.

Ben Stiller blows and has not made a decent movie since “Something about Mary”.

C.A.,
But were fake trailers? I believe that’s what Word was talking about.

Liz,
Those fake trailers you saw in Grindhouse were an homage to the tons of trailers found and shown during actual Grindhouse showings. Both before, middle, and at times, even after the main film/s.
While the content in those fake GH trailers were humorous and within the project RR and QT created. It was an overall homage to the grindhouse movie watching experience.

These trailers aren’t nearly “ala Grindhouse”… Grindhouse trailers were an experience all on their own and just there as additional entertainment. The trailers in Tropic Thunder introduce each of the main characters and their body of work to the audience. Definitely very different purposes behind these!

Ok, so this is what I know. There are trailers for that Ice one with Ben that this story has a picture of. There is a trailer for Simple Jack (red band trailer) and a trailer for one with Jack Black being in a family of fat people farting (red band)

hmm… did they add pandas? I saw an advanced screening of this movie a month ago and in the Global Meltdown trailer, he had babies instead of pandas.
