Jason Schwartzman stars as Marc Pease, a former high school musical star who is still living in the past, eight years after graduating. The film takes place over the course of one day, as Pease’s former teacher/mentor Mr. Gribble (played by Ben Stiller) oversees opening night, and Pease finally realizes there’s more to life than high school musicals. Todd Louiso, the actor turned director behind the wonderful but overlooked/virtually unseen gem Love Liza (which starred Philip Seymour Hoffman), co-wrote and directed. I’ve been awaiting his follow-up film as his debut showed so much promise. Two time Independent Spirit Award nominee Anna Kendrick co-stars. You might remember her as the amazing fast talking debater in last year’s possibly most overlooked film Rocket Science.
The Marc Pease Experience will be released by Paramount Vantage in 2008 (date TBA).
