Quarantine Movie Trailer

Quarantine

Screen Gems has released the movie trailer for Quarantine online. If you remember, last month we posted two viral videos which featured tape of a government shooting that happened on March 11th under the title Case 1017. It turned out that these virals were part of the viral marketing campaign for Quarantine, John Dowdle’s American remake of Spanish horror film [rec]. The film follows a TV news crew which gets trapped with a hazmat crew in a CDC quarantined apartment building which has been infected by something unknown. When the quarantine is eventually lifted, the only evidence of what happened is the news crew’s videotape (ala Cloverfield). The movie stars Jennifer Carpenter (pictured above), who I absolutely fell in love with from the hit television show Dexter (she plays Dexter’s foul mouthed almost always inappropriate sister Debra Morgan).

Check out the trailer after the jump. Tell me what you think in the comments below.

Quarantine hits theaters on October 17th 2008.

  • Cloverfield's camera styling plus zombies. I'm sold.
  • Wild Bill
I'm impressed that they found a way to get the attractive news reporter/victim down to a tank top just in time for the ghoul. Who saw that coming?
  • Chris
This appears to be a shot for shot remake only it looks a whole lot less creepy. In fact, it looks reeally, reeeally lame. [REC] was amazing - the intro to this trailer alone is a testament to how bad this film will be.
  • orange cinema
oh deborah morgan...we will be happy together someday :)
    movie looks cool too.
  • dan
I agree with Anthony, I'm sold. Semi-hot slut, zombies, Cloverfield esque.
  • Shawn
Looks like the next Blair Witch Project sequel.
  • Steve
I'll see this just to see what they kept in/changed for American audiences, but I highly suggest everyone sees [Rec] it's a great movie.
  • Antibodies
I would prefer they all focus on Dexter.
  • Sam R
Might be interesting. Now, if someone just took the same concept and replaced the "infected zombie-like humans" with ghosts...
  • Zachary Swiderski
I have to agree with Chris. Nearly a shot for shot remake of REC in just the scenes shown in this trailer. Extremely lame. Also, the Spanish reporter in REC was way hotter than the formerly possessed Emily Rose. Although I do like her in Dexter.
  • fabescore
[rec] is a great movie, why remake it for americans. the chick in rec was way hotter in a tanktop (nicer titties). unoriginal bastards
  • Kode
I hate the stupid American remakes.. the only reason why they make american remakes of successful foreign movies it's because everybody is too fucking lazy to read fucking subtitles, I'm surprise some douchebag didnt make an american version of Pan's Labyrinth, damn.. I hate you all.

Go and see [REC] and be happy, it's great, awesome!..
why do we need a bloody remake?? Why??!
    because its not in english??
I hope u all fucking choke!
  • Mike
Looks alright... Deja vu with Cloverfield/Blair with Project, but still alright! The chicks from Dexter is amazing though!
  • Matthew
I think this shaky cam stuff is only going to settle with me once. I just don't think I'm going to enjoy that kind of stuff after already being exposed to it (Cloverfield). Now Diary of the Dead has shaky cam stuff and now Quarantine is having it. Seems like they found a new toy and want to abuse it.

I've never seen [REC] but now I'm interested.
  • dan
I just saw the trailer for [rec.]

and I was surprised how much they bit off. kind of lame.

and yes, the mama cita in that was a lot cuter. nice el jugos.
  • jeremie
same shots as the original...but they introduce the military team finding the tapes... and more budget on make up apperently .
  • I see they made good use of the twitch plugin for after effects in this trailer.

    Prepare for heavy cloverfield comparisons.
  • "[rec]" arrived to the cinemas quite before "Cloverfield", so let´s stop saying "a là Cloverfield" and start saying "a là [rec]"... or then just "a là Blair Witch´s project" :-)

Said this, I loved the spanish one and will go and see the remake... but I think it will be a total failure as the american remakes of japanese horror movies.
  • Pill
I'm not sure why there is so much [REC] praise, it was far from a perfect film and this looks no better/worse then the original.
  • Gaius
Um, why is the ending of the movie in the trailer?
  • Matt
Love Jen but that trailer did nothing for me. Never heard of rec. before so I think I'll go get that now.
  • Eric
Ok, WTF? They showed the whole ending in there. Not good
  • /m
Why do yu need the commenter reading the text? it lessen the dramatic effect.

i have not yet seen *REC, definitely gonna check it out.
any foreign remake is worth checking.

whats up with Hollywood, running out of ideas?
if they wanna do remake, at least get the same director or have some sort of continuiation from the original version.
  • Derek
Jennifer Carpenter is the only thing about Dexter that I didn't like. Horrible actress in my opinion. Other than that, this looks interesting.
  • Ryan
[REC] was good, this remake will not be. Jennifer Carpenter is a terrible actress and totally ruins Dexter. The trailer gives WAY too much away and they should of never remade this movie.
  • Dan
Wait, are they going to be using that pseudo night-vision effect the entire time they're in the building. Yeah like, thats not gonna get old real fast.
  • I liked how they used the same narrator from the Front line Documentaries.

I have shit taste in film... So I'll go see it fo sho.
  • "Mr. NC-17"
Hm.. Hot Debra Morgan, in a tank top, with a gorup of people that vanish throughout the trailer, leaving her by herself, and at the end she dies.

    Hm. Predictable.
  • Rob
[Rec] scared the shit out of me. I saw it last weekend at a festival. Watching this Quarantine trailer makes me wanna puke. How lazy are american film producers to shot-by-shot remake successfully films instead of processing original ideas. Get off of this train. Period.
I will never watch remakes again! What will be remaked next? Frontier(s)? À l'intérieur? Run lola Run? "Ichi the Killer" played by Nic Cage? No remake is better than the original movie: Hollywood, you are stuck in a dead-end street. Don't look at the profit you are making. You're loosing heart and soul.
  • Happy_Evil_Dude
Soon, we'll have remakes coming out the same day as the originals... [Rec] hasn't been released in most of the world yet!
  • fcb1899
    wow...
when ppl here say it seems to be a shot by shot remake of [REC] they speak the truth. Even the door and the hall where the firemen "meet" the first "infected" woman looks EXACTLY the same. The only thing they seem to have adde in the premise of the hazmat team going in and finding the tape.
    meh.
  • Trebor
O man I love [REC] and the trailer i just saw for quarantine looks like an exact remake of [REC] so I will still go see it just to see if it is exactly remade or not. cause the little intro didnt happen in [REC] they just went strait into the fire department building. In [REC] they didnt show how they got the tape. but it looks like a good adaptation.
  • Ryan
Watching the trailer again, it looks like they find the camera on the first floor, not sure since it's cut up a lot with the static but if this is the case, then it'll have at least have something different in the original. Unless of course I'm wrong
  • Oliver
Trying too hard... but the themes are so overused that it is going to be way too predictable. Forgettable.
  • Alberto Pascual
Hi! I am from Spain, and I have to say how exactly is this remake to the great movie filmed here "REC" of Jaume Balagueró. I am shocked because all the shots are the same, the same reactions, maybe the same script anda dialogues. Why your conutry is still continue copying all the horror films of other countries? Now I feel how a japanesse may feel when they wacth the remakes of their movies.

    And 3 other things:

If they find the camera in the hall, that may be different to REC.
Don't you know that is bada idea to show the end in the movie?
AND the movie is not always with the nicht vision. I recomend you to watch first REC and then compare.

    Sorry for my mistakes.

    SEEYA
  • Michael
I know that the zombie movie has been uesed over and over .... but the thing is.... I love it and will continue to love horror movie. And that's why people watch movies and watch the trailors and make comments. It's intertainment. We have a bond, emotion, and desire to continue our fun loving, zombie eating movies. This movie excites me do to the fact.... that it have eating zombies and a good looken chick.

    Mike
  • Zandan
I would like to see the remake I and see diffrences already... I agree about putting the end clips on a preview BUT also maybe that's not how it ends in this movie you'll never know uless you see it... I am a horror buff and I really don't care if theres subtitles and remakes it amusing to see even the lowbugets! :D
  • Drew
Watch [REC]. SOOO MUCH BETTER! I am very angry at this.... damn americans
  • Julz
Blatant frame for frame rip off of [REC]. Damn shame there's no originality left in Hollywood. Watch [REC] instead. It's out on Blu Ray now and the lead actress is way cuter.
  • Kaylee
I am an ABSOLUTE Zombie fan!! I can not wait to see this movie!!

    =]

Okay i mean come on people stop making mean comments about the film. You havnt even seen it yet. I like that Jennifer Carpenter is in it. But i will. But stop saying this one is gona be shit if you havnt seen it yet. Plus i love the whole camera thing haha Cloverfiled was Awsome. xD
  • Michelle
Okay please stop making mean comments about the film. Its not nice and none of you have even seen it yet. I like that Jennifer Carpenter is in it. Shes a beautiful young girl so please leave her alone. I've seen her act in other films and shes pretty good =] I'm glad that she has the lead role. I'm happy for her. Yes i have not seen REC yet but i will. So please stop being rude. Come on people.
  • Michelle
Haha i woops. I didnt think my first comment went through thats why i did another xD haha oh well.
  • brooke
okay well, i think it looks good. and please stop stay crap about americans. its not it was a nation wide decision to remake a forgion film. blame hollywood not the entire contry. and besides we are not going to want to read ever single thing they say, pans labrynth was amazing but i missed half the movie by reading. realy?
i think this will be good but its starting to get real annoying that all the movies no-a-days are so damn predictable.
first, its in that stupid hand held camera crap. hated that
    second, another infected/disease film. joy
and third, its mostly at night so you'll watching the stupid camera face the floor the whole time.

lets hope they prove me wrong.
ps im going to check out [REC]
    ;)
  • i respect every ones decisions. I havent seen rec and i actually thought the trailer was preety good. Dont know if the original movie was made a long long time ago, cause i never heard of it. Anyways i will go see this movie, looks pretty scary, and then ill go watch rec and compare.actors have alot to do with a movie. The plot can be a really good plot but if the actors suck then it deserves a remake with better actors, No matter what this movie will sell, and as you can tell rec will get alot of promotion too. People will want to go see rec wich will provide more sales for both movies so everyone wins. period.
  • Chelsea
my worst fear is zombies slash creepy dead/alive biting people or whatever people call them for so long and they come out with so many diseased zombie looking things. i see as many as i can just to scare me and my family and friends think im just a sissy but that stuff looks real and its pretty scary.

you never know, people could just randomly create a formula to make people drool blood and bite people and go crazy the way they make these movies thats why im so creeped out. lol
  • Chelsea
i bet that one day some retarded scientists are gonna try and come up with gay formulas to make zombie peeps :( im scared now?
  • drewid
They totally rec'd this flick hehehe
  • Me and my girlfriend are going to see that movie tomrorrow hopefully. That movie looks that scary, If i come out of that movie with pissed on pant, shaking, and calling for my mom. you know that's a 5 out of 5 movie for this year
  • Anners
I really dont understand why they put the last scene of the movie in the trailer....pffft
