Screen Gems has released the movie trailer for Quarantine online. If you remember, last month we posted two viral videos which featured tape of a government shooting that happened on March 11th under the title Case 1017. It turned out that these virals were part of the viral marketing campaign for Quarantine, John Dowdle’s American remake of Spanish horror film [rec]. The film follows a TV news crew which gets trapped with a hazmat crew in a CDC quarantined apartment building which has been infected by something unknown. When the quarantine is eventually lifted, the only evidence of what happened is the news crew’s videotape (ala Cloverfield). The movie stars Jennifer Carpenter (pictured above), who I absolutely fell in love with from the hit television show Dexter (she plays Dexter’s foul mouthed almost always inappropriate sister Debra Morgan).
Check out the trailer after the jump. Tell me what you think in the comments below.
Quarantine hits theaters on October 17th 2008.

Cloverfield’s camera styling plus zombies. I’m sold.
April 10th, 2008 at 1:10 pm
I’m impressed that they found a way to get the attractive news reporter/victim down to a tank top just in time for the ghoul. Who saw that coming?

This appears to be a shot for shot remake only it looks a whole lot less creepy. In fact, it looks reeally, reeeally lame. [REC] was amazing - the intro to this trailer alone is a testament to how bad this film will be.
April 10th, 2008 at 1:18 pm
oh deborah morgan…we will be happy together someday :)
movie looks cool too.
April 10th, 2008 at 1:18 pm
I agree with Anthony, I’m sold. Semi-hot slut, zombies, Cloverfield esque.
April 10th, 2008 at 1:21 pm
Looks like the next Blair Witch Project sequel.
April 10th, 2008 at 1:22 pm
I’ll see this just to see what they kept in/changed for American audiences, but I highly suggest everyone sees [Rec] it’s a great movie.
April 10th, 2008 at 1:26 pm
I would prefer they all focus on Dexter.
April 10th, 2008 at 1:37 pm
Might be interesting. Now, if someone just took the same concept and replaced the “infected zombie-like humans” with ghosts…
April 10th, 2008 at 1:41 pm
I have to agree with Chris. Nearly a shot for shot remake of REC in just the scenes shown in this trailer. Extremely lame. Also, the Spanish reporter in REC was way hotter than the formerly possessed Emily Rose. Although I do like her in Dexter.
April 10th, 2008 at 1:43 pm
[rec] is a great movie, why remake it for americans. the chick in rec was way hotter in a tanktop (nicer titties). unoriginal bastards
April 10th, 2008 at 1:44 pm
I hate the stupid American remakes.. the only reason why they make american remakes of successful foreign movies it’s because everybody is too fucking lazy to read fucking subtitles, I’m surprise some douchebag didnt make an american version of Pan’s Labyrinth, damn.. I hate you all.
Go and see [REC] and be happy, it’s great, awesome!..
why do we need a bloody remake?? Why??!
because its not in english??
I hope u all fucking choke!
April 10th, 2008 at 2:17 pm
Looks alright… Deja vu with Cloverfield/Blair with Project, but still alright! The chicks from Dexter is amazing though!
April 10th, 2008 at 2:19 pm
I think this shaky cam stuff is only going to settle with me once. I just don’t think I’m going to enjoy that kind of stuff after already being exposed to it (Cloverfield). Now Diary of the Dead has shaky cam stuff and now Quarantine is having it. Seems like they found a new toy and want to abuse it.
I’ve never seen [REC] but now I’m interested.
April 10th, 2008 at 2:20 pm
I just saw the trailer for [rec.]
and I was surprised how much they bit off. kind of lame.
and yes, the mama cita in that was a lot cuter. nice el jugos.
April 10th, 2008 at 2:49 pm
same shots as the original…but they introduce the military team finding the tapes… and more budget on make up apperently .
April 10th, 2008 at 3:38 pm
I see they made good use of the twitch plugin for after effects in this trailer.
Prepare for heavy cloverfield comparisons.
April 10th, 2008 at 3:42 pm
“[rec]” arrived to the cinemas quite before “Cloverfield”, so let´s stop saying “a là Cloverfield” and start saying “a là [rec]”… or then just “a là Blair Witch´s project” :-)
Said this, I loved the spanish one and will go and see the remake… but I think it will be a total failure as the american remakes of japanese horror movies.
April 10th, 2008 at 4:19 pm
I’m not sure why there is so much [REC] praise, it was far from a perfect film and this looks no better/worse then the original.
April 10th, 2008 at 4:19 pm
Um, why is the ending of the movie in the trailer?
April 10th, 2008 at 4:32 pm
Love Jen but that trailer did nothing for me. Never heard of rec. before so I think I’ll go get that now.
April 10th, 2008 at 4:40 pm
Ok, WTF? They showed the whole ending in there. Not good
April 10th, 2008 at 5:17 pm
Why do yu need the commenter reading the text? it lessen the dramatic effect.
i have not yet seen *REC, definitely gonna check it out.
any foreign remake is worth checking.
whats up with Hollywood, running out of ideas?
if they wanna do remake, at least get the same director or have some sort of continuiation from the original version.
April 10th, 2008 at 5:43 pm
Jennifer Carpenter is the only thing about Dexter that I didn’t like. Horrible actress in my opinion. Other than that, this looks interesting.
April 10th, 2008 at 5:47 pm
[REC] was good, this remake will not be. Jennifer Carpenter is a terrible actress and totally ruins Dexter. The trailer gives WAY too much away and they should of never remade this movie.
April 10th, 2008 at 6:21 pm
Wait, are they going to be using that pseudo night-vision effect the entire time they’re in the building. Yeah like, thats not gonna get old real fast.
April 10th, 2008 at 6:27 pm
I liked how they used the same narrator from the Front line Documentaries.
I have shit taste in film… So I’ll go see it fo sho.
April 10th, 2008 at 6:47 pm
Hm.. Hot Debra Morgan, in a tank top, with a gorup of people that vanish throughout the trailer, leaving her by herself, and at the end she dies.
Hm. Predictable.
April 11th, 2008 at 12:26 am
[Rec] scared the shit out of me. I saw it last weekend at a festival. Watching this Quarantine trailer makes me wanna puke. How lazy are american film producers to shot-by-shot remake successfully films instead of processing original ideas. Get off of this train. Period.
I will never watch remakes again! What will be remaked next? Frontier(s)? À l’intérieur? Run lola Run? “Ichi the Killer” played by Nic Cage? No remake is better than the original movie: Hollywood, you are stuck in a dead-end street. Don’t look at the profit you are making. You’re loosing heart and soul.
April 11th, 2008 at 12:59 am
Soon, we’ll have remakes coming out the same day as the originals… [Rec] hasn’t been released in most of the world yet!
April 11th, 2008 at 7:02 am
wow…
when ppl here say it seems to be a shot by shot remake of [REC] they speak the truth. Even the door and the hall where the firemen “meet” the first “infected” woman looks EXACTLY the same. The only thing they seem to have adde in the premise of the hazmat team going in and finding the tape.
meh.
April 11th, 2008 at 8:13 am
O man I love [REC] and the trailer i just saw for quarantine looks like an exact remake of [REC] so I will still go see it just to see if it is exactly remade or not. cause the little intro didnt happen in [REC] they just went strait into the fire department building. In [REC] they didnt show how they got the tape. but it looks like a good adaptation.
April 11th, 2008 at 9:45 am
Watching the trailer again, it looks like they find the camera on the first floor, not sure since it’s cut up a lot with the static but if this is the case, then it’ll have at least have something different in the original. Unless of course I’m wrong
April 11th, 2008 at 8:03 pm
Trying too hard… but the themes are so overused that it is going to be way too predictable. Forgettable.
April 12th, 2008 at 2:50 pm
Hi! I am from Spain, and I have to say how exactly is this remake to the great movie filmed here “REC” of Jaume Balagueró. I am shocked because all the shots are the same, the same reactions, maybe the same script anda dialogues. Why your conutry is still continue copying all the horror films of other countries? Now I feel how a japanesse may feel when they wacth the remakes of their movies.
And 3 other things:
If they find the camera in the hall, that may be different to REC.
Don’t you know that is bada idea to show the end in the movie?
AND the movie is not always with the nicht vision. I recomend you to watch first REC and then compare.
Sorry for my mistakes.

I know that the zombie movie has been uesed over and over …. but the thing is…. I love it and will continue to love horror movie. And that’s why people watch movies and watch the trailors and make comments. It’s intertainment. We have a bond, emotion, and desire to continue our fun loving, zombie eating movies. This movie excites me do to the fact…. that it have eating zombies and a good looken chick.

I would like to see the remake I and see diffrences already… I agree about putting the end clips on a preview BUT also maybe that’s not how it ends in this movie you’ll never know uless you see it… I am a horror buff and I really don’t care if theres subtitles and remakes it amusing to see even the lowbugets! :D
