As you guys know, /Film has been on the Uwe Boll story since day one. Quasi-mainstream media have begun to pick up on the hilarious situation. G4TV featured a bunch of our coverage during their interview with Uwe Boll earlier today on Attack of the Show. Very cool, check out the clip below.
Boll claims that the petition, which has garnered over 172,000 signatures, is actually just a few people putting their name on the website 10 or 20 times each. While a few people might have done that, I’m sure the majority of people on the signature list are legitimate. I’m also sure that PetetionOnline captures the IP addresses of those who sign the petition, and it would be easy to find out exactly how many people have submitted their names. Basically it sounds like the beginning rumblings of a man who is going against his word. I don’t think that Boll expected the petition to collect over 172,000 signatures in just four days.
Boll also complimented Eli Roth for having a good sense of humor in his response, and again slammed Michael Bay “for having no humor”, but was willing to admit that he liked Bad Boys but hating Pearl Harbor.
If you haven’t already. you can still sign the Stop Uwe Boll petition to support the cause.

That man must be stopped.

Pearl Harbor really did suck.

I really like Uwe Boll. He is just such an interesting character. Very multidimentional, smart, and funny. Pretty much the opposite of any character that has appeared in any of him movies.
I like him so much even that I have decided not to sign the petition (once or 10-20 times). Just because I want to see this guy come up with new ways to get attention. He is a modern day Ed Wood. It can only take geniuses like them to make movies so bad and I welcome all examples of this genius. Everyone who agrees with me: HEAD OVER TO THE PRO-BOLL POLL IMMEDIATELY!

If only someone would make a reality show following Uwe Boll making movies…
April 10th, 2008 at 9:42 pm
Wow, Peter…That’s actually a brilliant idea. I would watch it…we all would.
April 10th, 2008 at 9:45 pm
wow!! that’d be an amazing show!! but seriously all sarcasm aside, im soo over uwe boll, he doesn’t make any sense in his interviews, and just blows at making films. i’ve heard people call uwe an amazing film maker and that if he was given a “reasonable” budget that he could make a great movie, well i greatly disagree. take clerks for example, kevin smith made that for nearly nothing and it turned out to be a great movie (one of if not my favorite) bottem line is uwe boll needs to stop making films please!! if you were a good film maker you’d make them work.
April 10th, 2008 at 10:33 pm
from here on out, i think a collective ‘cold shoulder treatment’ is the best way to deal with him. no attention at all, just might take him outta the game.
April 10th, 2008 at 10:34 pm
btw, i’m totally stoked that /film was featured!
April 10th, 2008 at 11:36 pm
“I think we have a good shot against Harrison Ford.”
LOL, what universe is he living in. A good shot, he he he.
I wonder how many movie theaters are gonna look at May and say
“Well, we could get Indiana Jones, but seriously guys, I don’t think we can pass up Postal!”
April 11th, 2008 at 1:26 am
The easiest way to stop him from making movies, is for people to stop going to his movies. Then the people who give him movey to make movies, either studios who hire him or independent producers, will stop working with him.
April 11th, 2008 at 2:08 am
The man is delusional. He hasn’t done one single good movie, not even in the sense of “so-bad-it’s-good” kinda way. Ed Wood did that. (Rod Lowe does that to all the productions he’s in.)
BUT…
He is doing a movie based on Postal(Postal 2 I suspect, not that shitty game Postal) which happens to be my all-time favorite game. Bad graphics, sucki-sucki AI, but filled with the stuff dreams are made of. It will be interesting to see how he will handle a different genre compared to the other shit he’s done.

a little off topic - but did Kevin Perierra just say the word ‘asshole’ in this interview?
April 11th, 2008 at 5:15 am
why would anyone care enough to sign a petition to make a filmmaker just stop making movies? if you don’t like his stuff, just don’t see it.
April 11th, 2008 at 6:36 am
Im not gonna lie, Boll’s movies might suck but i totally agree with him in this clip!!!
April 11th, 2008 at 7:02 am
It just blows my mind. Uwe Boll shows a lot of courage and self-deprecation in this clip, and all SlashFilm can do is bash this guy.
I repeat, he has the right to make movies if he can manage to get financing. His films are making money. And he’s pretty damn hilarious to boot.
Grow up and leave the guy alone.
April 11th, 2008 at 7:21 am
Ray, read up on your PR skills(or the lack there of). If we leave the guy alone, he doesn’t get the attention he wants. Do you know the term; there is no bad publicity.
Postal is going to do pretty well in the box office compared to his other flicks, and it’s because the exposure he gets from this circus. So, if you want to do him a favour, bash him, mash him and smash him.
The petition he (the guy himself) asked for is going to be followed by media until it gets the 1 000 000 votes that it surely will. If he then says : “Screw you, I’m doing more movies and yada yada” he gets more publicity. If the number won’t make it to 1 mill he can make a statement about it and there will be some more stirring.
So, he wins, either way. And that’s that. PR and financing is his strength, not movie making.

You know it would be really funny if Postal got better reviews than IJ4. But whats the odds.

This and beating down critics in a ring is probably the most pub he’s gonna get. This is the jam.

I think most of you are missing the big picture with this clip: How Kevin Perierra is literally desperate to perform the act of fellatio on Uwe Boll via the sat-feed through the entire interview. I can honestly say I’ve never seeing such a blatant display of intense suck-uppery. I was literally embarrased for the guy, it’s amazing he could actually finish the interview what with his mouth being so far up Uwe’s ass.
I clicked the clip just to see the /film-refs and watch Uwe say something dumb again, but found myself terribly disturbed by this wanker. Not being USian, I have no idea who this guy or what his show is, but I was thoroughly disgusted. I mean, come ON! One thing is to be favourably inclined towards your subject, but this transcends it into absurdity.
Watch it again, and notice how even Uwe is a bit disturbed by this guy (not acknowledging their alleged meets, not responding to the over-the-top compliments, &c)!

JBQ, he interviews EVERYONE that way.
April 12th, 2008 at 12:41 am
Holy crap, and he gets to continue because…?
April 12th, 2008 at 4:14 am
JBQ: check out some other programming from G4 on Joost for example or some other free content site. It’s all as “good” as this interview. The perfect mix of tech nerdery, geekness and macho-chovanism on the planet. Did I say perfect mix? I meant &#%”€#%/€ mix…
( G4 was TechTV before. Now all the hosts(who I think was fired) from TechTV are active on the free online TV channel revision3.org )
April 12th, 2008 at 5:47 am
Well, that makes sense, then. I guess they have to in order to get interviews. Doesn’t make me less nauseous, but it does explain the existence of this sort of interviewing style…
April 12th, 2008 at 7:54 am
I’m seriously PRO Uvah Bowl after watching this. This can’t end now.
I don’t know if it’s his accent ar actually what he is saying. But it is HIGHLY entertaining.
May 13th, 2008 at 11:47 am
sad to day postal looks funny, funnier than “____movie” movies.
and JBQ, when dealing with powder keg idiotic germans [aren't they all?] its best to pretend to like them.. germans JUST. DON’T. SEE. REASON.
and I’m amazed anybody bothers to see his movies.. I mean dungeon siege, really?
