There must be something about this Justin Marks guy. A couple years ago he was a virtual nobody. Then one day David Goyer’s wife discovered him and the guy was instantly attached to Super Max, an original idea for a Green Arrow movie. And with that Marks somehow became the hot new screenwriter for geek movie adaptations. Fox hired him to pen Voltron: Defender of the Universe and Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li, Warner Bros hired Marks for He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. We’ve yet to see a produced feature film from Marks and yet he’s getting handed gigs left and right.
Rogue Pictures has now hired Marks to tackle a big screen adaptation of Hack/Slash, the popular comic book created by Tim Seeley and Stefano Caselli. The series follows a horror victim named Cassie Hack, who strikes back at the homicidal maniacs and serial killers, known as “slashers”. Marks take is said to be heavy on the comedy and horror. Todd Lincoln will direct. There is nothing evident in Lincoln’s experimental short films and standard television commercials (which can be seen at this link) to help me understand why this guy was hired for this (or any) project. He must have had one helluva strong pitch.
Discuss: Who should play Cassie in the big screen adaptation? Megan Fox? Scarlett Johansson? Sophia Bush? Eliza Dushku?

Dushku would be good, the charater is reminiscent of her character in Buffy

Megan Fox and Scarlett! They could do it in sort of a Tyler Durden esque “we’re the same person” thing. It probably wouldn’t work at all, but could definitely capture my attention for 90 minutes.
Please not Dushku.

that planet of the apes-inspired video on lincoln’s website is kinda cool, anyway, although like you say, there isn’t much beyond that video to suggest he should make this film.

Megan Fox!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Her rising star will be higher after Transformers 2.
Scarlett Johansson is great but I don’t see her as an action star much.

It has to be some one that is not that super hot. The thing is it would be who they are that makes them hot. Plus every one on that list is just wrong for it. To old or just to dumb. Plus they have to have the vibe of a suicide girl to connect with who they are playing.

i really want this film to be taken seriously, but i think casting someone like sophia bush - who i love - might hurt the film. Megan fox would be great, i never saw scarlette jo as cassie at all, but she does have the chops & would bring a very serious vibe to the film. what about nat portman?

Megan Fox.

“Fox hired him to pen Voltron: Defender of the Universe and Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li, Warner Bros hired Marks for He-Man and the Masters of the Universe.”

the slasher references in that cover are sweet…they have the owl head dude from Stage Fright and Motorcycle guy from strip nude for your killer…Ive seen this book at stores, i might have to actually pick it up because those obscure references are awesome

Dude Todd Lincoln’s short films don’t make any god damn sense, I have no clue to how he is going to approach this film, his stuff looks so vintage with a dash of porn.
I don’t have very much faith in this team so far, but I bet there will be some changes in the future with director and stuff.

Really? Who should play her?
Ellen Page.

missy peregrym, perhaps?

sorry but Eliza Dushku just seem like she trys to hard to be who she is. Plus she seems way to old and too well know for what is going to happen in the story. Maybe some one from Sin City would fit the bill. Plus Cassie starts out as the victim but then start to fight back and grows as the hero. Plus how do you say the name. Is it Hack-n-Slash or just how it looks. I think the only one on that list that would fit the bill is Sophia Bush since she has done horror.

Sophia Bush is the most talented and most beautiful of the bunch. Should she take the role if offered? That’s another story.

I just picked up the Hack/Slash Omnibuss off of Amazon, and it is pretty spectacular. I can’t wait to see what they do with a movie for this.

I love Eliza but I just dont see her in this. Megan Fox or Sophia Bush. But I hope it’s Megan. In an interview she recently showed interest in this role. Plush, she’s a babe!
