@The Jezzus
I think i will take a shot at answering for Frank. First off, a Mach 6? Everyone knows the main car was the Mach 5, not some new Mach 6 crap. The only other car that Speed raced was the Open Wheel version of the Mach 5. Scientist did not create the features found on the Mach 5, Sparky and Pops Racer designed the car from the ground up. All the CGI is over kill, cities in the anime series looked just like normal cities we see around us. Race tracks do not have metal tracks and loops and spiral curves with ramps. It is a silly far fetch leap from the series.

The only thing I am happy with is Racer X (Rex Racer) Mathew Fox looks like he is going to play the role near flawlessly. What could have made this movie great and made it where sequels would have been made would to be several different races. Such as the race against the Mammoth Car, race against the Car Acrobatic Team, Race around the world, etc. A live action remake of the series would have been GREAT. Not this go out on a limb, butcher the series, and ruin Speed Racer for all of us who are extreme and loyal fans. I dedicate 1 week a year to re-watch the entire series cause it is one of the greatest animes of all time.

And to think these over-rated Matrix duds are going to butcher a classic makes me sick to my stomach. It makes me happy they didn't try to get their hands on Astro-Boy, Voltron, Robotech and some other animes.

If they would have stayed true to the story instead of creating their own it would have been great. Now we have some Mach 6 that looks like trash, and drives in a city that looks like something Tim Burton would put in a batman movie.

I suggest you take a hit of LSD before watching this movie in order to tolerate it. I will be at home May 9th watching the real Speed Racer.

people should take a look again at the design of the city. its looks pretty awesome. this is how i imagined an anime -> live action film should be. in terms of graphics and action this already has my vote. lets see how the acting plays out.

Honestly, if you're not foaming at the mouth to see this movie by this point, you've probably become too jaded by "gritty" movies (i.e. movies that shake the camera a lot, and use a lot of low-key lighting...wahey, what an achievement...).

This definitely looks like a mold-breaking, trend-setting action film of the highest order.

I mean, an action movie fer kids?

Who'da thunk it?

I have to admit this film actually looks pretty cool. It's good to see them make it for kids. And I also have to commend them for not turning another light-hearted cartoon franchise into a dark, angsty, edgy, version of itself. Which most directors would have probably done. And it's a trend im getting a little tired of.

They basically made a real-life take on the over-the-top anime feel the original cartoon had. And they executed it well. I was never a fan of the original cartoon (before my time). But the film looks good.

Frank, how so? What did you want a Speed racer movie to look like? If you can, in one paragraph or less, tell me how you'd either improve or make this film differently but still as creative and unique then please do so. I dare you!

This movie looks horrible. I enjoyed all the Matrix stuff and V for Vendetta, but this just looks like crap. I'm sure i'll watch it when it comes to DVD, but, it is pretty far down on my 'crap movies' list.

The Wachowski's could really care less about what we think. Which I think is great, because they can make the movies THEY want to make and not what people like us think they should make.

I've enjoyed all of the Wachowski Bros. movies. My favorite Matrix is actually Reloaded because it felt more like a graphic novel, and it expanded the universe. Same with GDT's Blade II.

I grew up just at the edge of Speed Racers popularity. I know one of my older cousins used to thinks it was cool as hell. I showed him the trailer and he was actually digging it. Me I just think that if they are able to match the action and story with the looks even 50% it should be a good movie.

All this talk about CGI, and how it "looks fake" or too colorful, then sorry. You think the Bros. might have actually inteded it to be like that? I'm confident that they are creating a movie in their own vision, and I seriously can't wait.

If anyone knows, can an 15 year old go to a gala show with their parent and is the ticket priced higher? Just curious so please can someone answer

- the no interview thing doe seem a little elitist (sp?) to me also.
-for some reason a 'G' rating bums me out, is that still the case?
-it does look like a fun film, but i doubt i'll rush to see it opening weekend.
- i hope they use the song 'Mach 5' by P.O.T. USA

Robert: I can understand not wanting to do press tours or junkets, but they can't sit down for the in house Warner Bros team for an hour so they can cut some of the interviews into featurettes and dvd special edition extras?

newmi: I understand that the Wachowski's "want the films to speak for themselves" but

1. They don't make artsy movies, its not like their explanations will effect your interpretation of Speed Racer

2. The stars and producers just relay what the Wachowski's were thinking anyways, so whats the point? If they just want the films to speak for themselves, then why allow interviews t all?

It's just such a ridiculous idea.

I can totally understand not wanting to do interviews. Answering the same lame questions over and over and over again. I wouldn't probably do them either if I was in their position. I just understand not wanting to have to explain yourself or your creative work. Let the work speak for itself and let the audience think a little, no matter how much they whine about it. What a position to be in!

"I’m kinda getting sick of hearing the stars and producers explain to me what The Wachowski Brothers were thinking when they’re alive. Why can’t they just explain it themselves?"

Probably because they're no longer The Wachowski Brothers, just The Wachowski's now and they've never really been very vocal at any point during their careers.
