The viewers of LOST are not the only ones asking the question “What?” Apparently the word “What” is being overused on screen during the show. After the jump check out this hilarious video which recaps the use of the word “What” throughout seasons one through three of LOST.

Lost is still one of my favorite shows and I will always defend it. If one of the you idiots who havn’t watched it since the begining then don’t talk shit. I still also say “what” alot too, but that’s what keeps me watching. It’s one of the most unique and interesting shows put on tv. Thank you J.J. Abrams and ABC for producing such a great WHAT show.

My theory in how “what?” is used in the show goes along the same lines of why why we say things such as; “um”, “you know?”, “uh”, etc… These things are referred to as a nonfluencies in speech. They serve to buy us time so that our brain can process the syntax necessary to communicate our thoughts or responses. And the frequency with which it is seen in the show makes only more sense when you realize that the show is written by the same group of writers time after time. Meaning that one of those dudes, tends to say “what?” a whole lot as he tries think of the next line for the other character.
…wait, what?
April 7th, 2008 at 10:45 pm

There are some 50 plus hours of Lost out there - if you chose any fairly common word I’m sure you could make a two minute montage of them.
Them. Them? Them! Them, them Them. Them. THEM! Them; Them-them. Them.
April 9th, 2008 at 8:35 am
I agree with Peter on this… however, I don’t think they would all be funny… Imagine a montage with, say, the word “inside” or “tree” or “arm”… quite boring to listen to “arm” repeated 50 times… :s
