New James Bond Quantum of Solace Photos

Quantum of Solace

USA Today has released a batch of new photos from the next James Bond film Quantum of Solace. The new stills feature a bunch of action and give us our first look at one of the new Bond Girls - Olga Kurylenko who plays a half-Russian, half-Bolivian rogue agent named Camiille, and new nemesis Dominic Greene, played by Mathieu Almaric (Munich), a jet-setting CEO and member of the Quanrum organization (from Casino Royale) who plans to take over the world’s water supply. Check out the new photos below. The USA Today article is worth checking out, here are a few highlights:

Quantum of Solace picks up where Casino Royale ended, with Bond working his way up the chain of command of the terrorists who blackmailed his lover, Vesper Lynd. Quantum of Solace comes from a short story by 007 author Ian Fleming, and it’s not a spy story but a tale told to Bond about another couple’s tragic romance. The short story has nothing else to do with the movie. Wilson explains: “The title we thought was appropriate for a couple of reasons. The villainous organization is called Quantum, and what Bond is looking for in his life is a measure of comfort, and that’s what a ‘quantum of solace’ is. He’s just trying to find a little bit of comfort because his life is in turmoil.”

“He has the realization that there’s no place for him in the outside world,” Wilson says. “And also he’s tempted by revenge and tempted by becoming a cynic, by losing his humanity. He has to fight all of these things.”

Another curious twist is the hint that there may be less romance this time for the notorious ladies’ man. “We felt Bond could not immediately fall into another relationship. And we needed someone who had her own agenda and probably could not form a relationship either because of her situation,” Wilson says. Kurylenko says her vengeful rogue agent, Camille, is so focused on “what she’s doing, she doesn’t care about meeting a boyfriend or something.” Bond does bed another MI6 agent, played by British actress Gemma Arterton, 22, a relative newcomer. “He has one relationship in this movie, a kind of fling. It’s mutually beneficial,” Craig says. “I think both parties enjoy it.”

I still can't get past that stupid name. Did they do what the japanese do when they create video game titles? Put random words together in a hat and the first ones they pull out is the winner?

I think, "A Magnificent Bologna" would be just as good.
  • Rick
The movie is painting Bond as "damaged goods"; a revenge-seeking hate-filled SuperBrit.

    I'm skeptical...

I do like what they did with this new Bond. I was never a fan of the classic Bond stuff or the modernized versions before Craig. Casino Royale was the first bond film I liked. They just made him more of a physical badass than a cheesy 70's porn star with gadgets.

I was growing up on Kung-Fu Theatre when people were watching some dude drinking a martini :P

    @ cpt awesome.

I have to agree with you. For a while I was real pissed because I thought Clive Owen would have been perfect as Bond, but when I saw the new movie I realized that Craig was a good fit for the direction that they are taking the franchise. Owen would be a great Martini drinking classic era Bond though, you have to admit that.

This is gonna be so ballin' regardless of the name.
  • Captain Awesome
Clive Owen would definitely fit that mold well. He would be a great ass-kicking villian I think in a Bond film too, opposite of Craig. He's got great "presence".

Why not have those two beat the crap out of each other on film? :)

Very cool, Owen teams up with Connery??? Any takers, I know Connery has expressed interest in being a Bond villain.

hmm skeptical. casino royale worked because it was at least a little bit different from all the other bond movies. seems like they're falling into that trap - a villain who wants to take over the worlds water supply? wtf?!
  • the first pic looks like The Brave One

Yeah, I saw that. James Bond uses a .32 Walther PPK/S in this day and age? There are hundreds of pocket easily concealable pistols out there today, all .45. But, the Walther PPK is a beautifully crafted and classy pistol. I own a silver one! Though .32 it's highly accurate, reliable and with enough round placement practice you can still bring down the bad guy, albeit with 8 rounds through their head.

    Marcomc2, what are those shoes?
  • They look exactly like a pair of slip on lacoste's i had while back.
i could be wrong, but im just going to convince myself that i wear the shoes james bond wears. haha. awesome
  • Quantum of Solace was entertaining, but they could have done with seven or either less chase scenes
