Pineapple Express

Like many of you, I’m excited for the Seth Rogen-penned Judd Apatow-produced stoner comedy Pineapple Express. It kinda looks like a strange spoof of the Pirates of the Caribbean banners from last year. And while this new theatrical one sheet (thanks to JoBlo) is funny, I don’t believe it gives you an accurate idea about what the film is actually about. Check out the full poster below and tell me what you think in the comments.

looks good, plays up the crazy stoner action movie slant they’re going for imo.

the movie is 3/4 stoner buddy comedy and the last quarter is a wicked tribute to an 80’s action flick like the one you see on UPN 9 at 1:30 in the afternoon on a Sunday; that’s what they’re showing here. Glad to see Danny McBride on the poster - he steals every scene he’s in.

McBride is the MAN. Destined to be one of the best new/old funny men.

But yo, I’m still not getting my hopes up TOO high for this movie. I mean I liked the trailer, I like the writers and director, and the actors. But for some reason I’m not really that excited for it.

Oh yeah the poster doesn’t change my mind.

I’ll pass on this one. Knocked Up and Superbad was enough Seth Rogan for one lifetime. I just don’t think he’s very funny at all.

After seeing the trailers for this film, I’m looking forward to seeing it.

Can’t say im a huge fan of the poster, especially after seeing the one for “WITWIOBL?”. Good eye Peter, it does look like its mocking the Pirates 3 poster art.

    Thug Life.

Man, I cant wait for this film. I might even go see it in the theater.

I pack a fat bong load for every time I read about it here.
and then play the MIA-paper planes.mp3 on 11.

    so…
Huston, we are ready for launch.

    BTW.. The poster is meh.
Good call on the POTC though Peter.

i think movies looks amazing, the trailer, with paper planes soundtrack, just fits like a glove. I cant wait!

    Nice pants James Franco.

  10. Gravatar

Not a very strong poster at all.

  11. Gravatar

are we questioning the artistic credibility of a stoner/action comedy? really?

  12. Gravatar

This reminds me of the Hot Fuzz poster; funny guys with guns posing in an action-movie poster way.

  13. Gravatar

oohhh look heath ledger! =( not!

    Bestest. Tagline. EVER. :D

  15. Gravatar

PATHETIC. Too bad we are forced to watch these untalented idiots. BOOOO!

  16. Gravatar

Untalented!? I think a lot of people think this movie is going to be Superbad but with stoners instead of high school kids. It’s definitely not. When they say action-comedy, they mean it. It’s really very unique and creative. That and it’s non-stop hilarious.

    Gajonka, suck it douche.
Rogan has the comedy down but he might be in too many movies too soon, but i love the guy. Franco is the shit and he is really funny and now people will see his comedic side.
The script was good and here’s a spoiler: GAJONKA shows up at the end and is molested to death.
