I'm a HUGE K2 fan but have to admit FITZ isn't one of my favorites. Yeah, it has some moments of greatness but they're too few and far between for my taste. The mind reels at the idea of FITZCARRALDO 2060 but so much s**t gets announced and thrown out there these days that never happens (like, sadly, HOUSE OF RE-ANIMATOR) that I'm not holding my breath.

Wait is this for real? I hope it is, even if it is set in the future (which sort of makes it sound fake) but Daniel Day Lewis playing Kinski's part sound great and Peter Weir is a great director. I'm about 50/50 if this a real project but I would be glad if it's made.

@Cinema

Thanks for the condescension pal. My point was this: the original post says "The Hollywood Reporter reports...". So whether the Reporter is holding the story or not (which I'll admit is plausible), how could the /film post cite an article that doesn't yet exist as proof of the story's veracity?

I rest my case. You don't need to live in LA to spot bullsh@t when you see it.

@ Reg

Gohd, you clearly don't live in L.A. or work in the business, otherwise you wouldn't second guess it.

The Hollywood Reporter is probably holding the article until later today.

It's only bizarre for those who lack the vision of Weir and DDL. If one can successfully set Shakespeare in the world of urban school basketball and the projects, a remake of Fitzcarraldo can transcend the heavens, as I and so many others working here in L.A. have heard.

Don't be a lemon wedge gone bad in this glass of uplifting news!

@CinemaMaster

If it's real, then why doesn't The Hollywood Reporter article cited in the post exist? The idea of remaking Fitzcarraldo as 50 years in the future is just too bizarre to consider. What's the point?

It's fake, how come the only other source leads to a "Stuff White People Like" blog? I need sources. Not just speculation.

Plus a futuristic Fitz? Come on...

Kinski is the man though, I don't speak a word of German.

@ The Jezzus

It's not. Weir has floated this script around town for months. This is funny. For the last time, Peter Weir and DDL are really doing Fitzcarraldo.

Please let this be an April Fools joke.

Daniel Day would never do this. No way. Out of respect for Kinski.

Good one, Hunter.

And Kinski would have rocked as Plainview. Just pull up some clips of him from youtube and watch in awe at the depths of his rage. Or watch some of the films he made with Herzog.

April Fools!

But I just want to say that in case this is real I think Day-Lewis would kill in this role.

He is the greatest living actor right now. Seriously.
