If true, thank booze. Cinema Blend says they received an email from a reader who spotted future Flash Adam Brody at a bar in British Columbia. What a tip, eh? There’s more though. Brody, who was allegedly boozing it up with director George Miller, went on to rundown the cast for the newly/oddly titled Justice League Mortal. All of the names for the superhero team were the same names being reported in the press, with one exception: the reader says Brody told her that Jumper’s Hayden Christensen is now Superman. And then Brody apparently signed her napkin.
Bogus? Perhaps. Now, the role is rumored to be filled by relative unknown D.J. Corona, and prior to that, Scott Porter (Music and Lyrics) was also tipped. Maybe the Blend should request a photo of the napkin (”Dude, that’s Brody’s lightning bolt!”). As the site points out, is the JLM cast currently bar hopping up there for the helluva it? But Christensen would also make sense for the troubled Warner Bros. production, which is apparently scouting locations in Canada after being leaving Australia over a tax rebate disagreement. A more recognizable name would draw attention away from the damp buzz. More on this as it develops. And yeah, I agree, Christensen is not an ideal Supes.
Discuss: Have you ever run into Adam Brody at a bar? Hayden Christensen did a good nerd journo in Shattered Glass, but he also put many to sleep (permanently?) in those prequels. Thoughts? Is Justice League Mortal a silly title? Should they just go ahead and add Kombat? Have any of our Canadian readers seen Brody recently?

Hayden Christensen should never make a movie again. He is probably the worst actor I’ve ever seen.
March 29th, 2008 at 2:35 pm
seconded
March 29th, 2008 at 2:49 pm
Brian I think after Miller’s obnoxious campaign with this film that will be horrible. He could easily be put into that camp with Christensen.
Miller needs to fuck off.
March 29th, 2008 at 2:50 pm
Here goes nothing. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As Darth Vader would say.
March 29th, 2008 at 2:56 pm
As Sexman would say: “[Hayden Christensen] is probably the worst actor I’ve ever known.”
March 29th, 2008 at 3:18 pm
If I ran into him at a bar I would have a few choice words for all the bad films that he has made and thinking that making this justice leauge movie is a good idea.
I couldn’t think of anything funny yet I will try in the morin
March 29th, 2008 at 3:25 pm
@ Christopher
Yeah, that was pretty bad. :)
March 29th, 2008 at 3:27 pm
Peter, I can’t give out any names, but I have close contacts with this film. It’s dead as of now. Like, canned.
March 29th, 2008 at 4:18 pm
To give a different spin to all the ‘Christensen’ sucks, I think he’s a talented actor… who for inexplicable reason - when the budget for a film is above $20 million, decides to act like a plank of wood. I don’t get it, he’s very good in Shattered Glass yet all these big action films he’s terrible in. And since all he seems to do is these action films and films like Awake, he’s not really doing any good for his perception as an actor.
March 29th, 2008 at 4:39 pm
Who cares who plays Superman?
Yah, that’s right I said that. If anything, HC would be perfect for the role, since he’s so one dimensional ala Mannequin Skywalker. Its not like the last person who played Superman was Brando FFS…and theres some standard we need to uphold. It was Christopher Reeves. Just as bad an actor as HC….if not worse. Superman may be charismatic on paper…. But on film, I’m use to a lousy actor playing superman… any lack of talent can pull him off as long as you look the part.
March 29th, 2008 at 4:53 pm
dan,
That’s music to my ears.
March 29th, 2008 at 4:55 pm
dan, I hope you’re right.
This thing just stinks to high Heaven and it just screams failure right now. The whole thing is so off focus of a Justice League movie could be. I don’t think they see the potential or they would be trying a heck of a lot harder than Adam Brody and HC.
Scrap this one and try again. It’s not a failure if no one makes it.
March 29th, 2008 at 5:00 pm
All Superman related films are dead as of last Wednesday. Goodbye Singer. Goodbye MOS. Goodbye JLA. Hello long court appeals.
March 29th, 2008 at 5:03 pm
I really don’t have a problem with this as he did a great job in Shattered Glass and was pretty decent in Episode III. I would pick someone else honestly, like the guy from Smallville. But that being said I feel if Christensen is cast as Superman wont be terrible and I’m willing to give him a shot. I mean people hated Heath Ledger being cast as the The Joker, and look what people think of that now.
March 29th, 2008 at 5:15 pm
I’ll give another tidbit. Apparently casting isn’t working out, there’s not much of a want of it anymore from the studio (problems/etc). And one of the MAJOR parts of bringing the film to life is leaving for someone else’s project as of now.
March 29th, 2008 at 5:41 pm
HOW THE HELL DOES HAYDEN KEEP GETTING WORK?
March 29th, 2008 at 6:03 pm
This is a brilliant casting decision. Now, if we can just get Ashton Kutcher to play Batman and Katie Holmes to play Wonder Woman, we can have the greatest piece of cinema the world has ever known!
March 29th, 2008 at 6:42 pm
@Greyson
Marlon Waynes as Green Lantern, and Triple H as Aquaman as well. Then we’re set.
March 29th, 2008 at 7:48 pm
Don’t forget Carlos Mencia as Apache
March 29th, 2008 at 7:49 pm
@Greyson, it’d be a piece all right..
March 29th, 2008 at 8:21 pm
My God, what is the world coming to?
March 29th, 2008 at 8:49 pm
NO NO NO NO
March 29th, 2008 at 9:25 pm
2 Things:
Hayden Christensen is a poor actor who fell victim to George Lucas’ poor dialogue.
That said - if this upsets you that he has been cast as Superman, you need to get more hobbies.
Your life does not revolve around movies or actors. They do not care about you. Why do you care about them? Do you ever feel a sense of true fulfillment when you finish watching a movie? No. Not unless its your movie and you wrote it. Other than that, they are wastes of time that suck valuable resources from you.
March 29th, 2008 at 10:07 pm
“Here goes nothing. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As Darth Vader would say.”
Damn you..
March 29th, 2008 at 10:13 pm
It will be so great. Can’t you just picture it? The villain is giving the good ol’ “evil is better than good” speech and the Hayden gets to use the oh so awesome Star Wars line:
“You underestimate my powers!”
I love it!
March 30th, 2008 at 1:49 am
Not much could make me skip going to a Justice League movie.
Hayden Christensen’s involvement is absolutely a deal killer.
March 30th, 2008 at 2:39 am
Wel i gotta hand it to george miller. He did 1 thing that all the supervillians combined didnt do. KILL THE JUSTICE LEAGUE.
March 30th, 2008 at 4:20 am
this is the best news this film has had so far. ill repeat that shattered glass is phenominal, and shows the range this guy can reach with a great script and proper direction. i defy someone to make an unbais negative comment about his shattered glass performance. if this shitty JLA movie ever gets made, HC would be the ONLY good thing about it. (it could have been miller, but he’s taken a dive off the deep end)
get HC some help on choosing projects, and he’ll become one of our best over the years.
March 30th, 2008 at 4:28 am
Are they joking? He was geart in ‘Star Wars’ but come on be serious!!!
We want Tom Welling for Superman!!!

March 30th, 2008 at 5:08 am
oh
my
god!
why? whywhywhywhwyhwywhywhywhwyhwywhywhy????
why do they do this?
this movie, if it ever gets made, will be a total disaster. no question.
the simple fact that there is no origin stories for any of these characters astounds me. and the premise that this will set up spin off films is rediculous. name me a single spin off film that has
been at all good.
just one.
and the fact that this film would be doing the worst possible thing in the world by re-imagining two of their characters (bats and supes) while both are still doing solo movies is……
well i simply dont have a word that describes the bleakness of this supposed franchise.
we are waiting for batman 3 and superman 4 (or 6) around the same sort of time: batman 3, if it happens, will totally kick ass at the box office, and superman 4 (or 6) can only be better than superman returns (which, by the way, didnt do too badly at the box office, i might add…)
the inclusion of batman and superman in JLM or whatever would kill those profitable franchises. and to not include them would destroy the premise of the film.
is it not better to just not do the film at all?
(and i think adam brody is not the best choice of flash at all.)
(and hayden christensen? brandon routh any day…)
March 30th, 2008 at 10:12 am
SEXMAN DISAPPROVES.
March 30th, 2008 at 10:24 am
Worst. Vader. Ever.
March 30th, 2008 at 10:36 am
thanks hayden, yu ruin it.
I’m just gonna skip this movie.
March 30th, 2008 at 2:29 pm
Pic of Hayden as Superman:

March 30th, 2008 at 2:42 pm
Everyone notice in the headline it says rumor? Chill out and take a breath people. It sounds like bullshit anyway
March 30th, 2008 at 2:55 pm
Yeah, yeah, it’s all rumor. But what a great excuse to come down hard on Hayden!
@orange cinema
Nicolas Cage has been in a good movie or two too.
That doesn’t mean that he should be allowed in front of a camera ever again.
Dropping a quarter on the floor almost never results in the coin landing up on edge.
Shattered Glass is Hayden’s coin landing on edge.
March 30th, 2008 at 3:15 pm
@ thumb
i agree one movie doesn’t define a career, but glass shows hayden’s potential. give the kid a good script & director & he shines pretty bright.
and cage has been in more than 1 or 2 good films, (adaptation, leaving LV, matchstick men, lord of war, weather man, 8mm, face off - there’s alot more, but you should check these out cuz your missing out on some great stuff) having him never ‘be allowed in front of a camera again’, is silly. kinda funny, but really just silly. even if you don’t like an actor, it’s better to be honest and give em credit when they deserve it.
March 30th, 2008 at 7:01 pm
Weird. Especially since Hayden Douchersen is dating Brody’s ex-long time girlfriend Rachel Bilson. Seems shady. As someone from Hayden’s hometown, I still think he sucks.
March 30th, 2008 at 7:34 pm
adam is in la.he was in canada for one or two days.see just jared .so this is complitely untrue.
March 31st, 2008 at 1:00 am
According to Diablo Cody’s blog, he’s in Vancouver (or at least he was) for a role in her new zombie flick, Jennifer’s Body.
March 31st, 2008 at 7:44 am
As a JLA comic fan I can say that this movie looked like it was going to be terrible from day one. The fact that some exec at WBro’s may think its a totally awesome idea to try to get the star wars crowd/a few teen girls to come see their summer tent pole does not change the fact that this movie was going to be bad to start with.
March 31st, 2008 at 7:45 am
oh, and one more thing. That title will change for sure…..its shite
April 2nd, 2008 at 5:36 am
F**k Miller, you’ve inked the Omnilab deal, now just make Fury Road.
May 5th, 2008 at 1:06 am
This would be unfortunate and a tragedy.
Worst thing in the world is an actor who cannot act.
July 16th, 2008 at 8:19 am
I agree with orange cinema hayden is awesome! just has bad scripts
i will never understand why everyone hates hayden in the star wars movies! okay with the “putting everyone to asleep” part, oh yeah he totally put us to sleep with all that BURNING up and FIGHTING monsters and i think he did good when his mom was dying he showed EMOTION i’ve seen jumper, and yeah he was like a walking board but i found him great in the star wars
