A new poster for the X-Files sequel has been found floating around the interwebs, although I’m not quite sure it’s real. If it is official, it looks poorly hacked together. Real or Fake, I’m sure the truth is out there, and we’ll find out soon.

Update: As it turns out, the poster is actually real. Someone in the fox art department deserves to be fired for this one…

it’s official. I went to www.xfiles.com earlier, and it had that image on there. but for some reason, it goes back to the Fox website now. maybe I just saw a test page. but nonetheless, it’s official.

it looks pretty damned official, since it’s the image at the end of the trailer.

Don’t know if it’s real or fake. But I’d like to say it’s fake. Look at the “stars”. As a designer, those are just bad/quick photoshop markings. Some of them aren’t even realisitically shaped for in-the-distance-stars. In particular, look at the one “star” that is about an inch down, and right of center. it looks like a streak, not a “star” you’d see in the sky. Looks like a bad photoshop brush-dragging mistake.

The people are too vague too. Like someone just found those images on the web. I don’t see a big movie house releasing a movie poster that shows really vague, ghostlike characters when the movie/show/theme is based so much on said characters.

Third… look at the very bottom right of the light beam. Where it touches the bottom edge of the poster. See how it has a slight, unrealistic curve to it? Makes me think fake. A high-profile movie poster creator wouldn’t let something like that happen.

It’s not “real” enough, especially for something like as big budget as X-Files. I’m not saying it IS fake…. but let’s just say I’d be surprised if that passed as an official poster. It could just be a studio mock-up or brainstorm.

Continued from previous post —– Yep. The more I look at it, the more I say fake. The people are too fake looking. The “X” isn’t “X’d” enough. Not real.

  5. Gravatar

Awesome, awesome, awesome! I’m psyched for this return.

  6. Gravatar

fake, dont need to write a book about it like some of the other commenters, but i like where this person’s head is at.

  7. Gravatar

    Obviously fake.

  8. Gravatar

If this is in fact real, then it’s poorly done.

  9. Gravatar

It is real, we received them at my theater yesterday. I too, think it’s lame.

    =(

  10. Gravatar

The stars come from dust when you scan an image.

The poster is real, theaters received them yesterday.

  11. Gravatar

    It is official.

  12. Gravatar

Pretty lame for an official poster. They could’ve done better.

  13. Gravatar

I dig the simplicity of the design. The point comes across firmly.

  14. Gravatar

My bet is definitely fake. coming from a design standpoint the stars are poorly blended into the poster. I just went to www.xfiles.com and it wouldn’t be hard to snag the two pictures needed to make this.

  15. Gravatar

Its real, got one yesterday from the movie theatre.

  16. Gravatar

Real. It’s hanging in the theater I work at.

  17. Gravatar

It looks like the fate of The Weinstein Co. post-Fanboys.

  18. Gravatar

I happen to think this is a very nice X-Men poster.

  19. Gravatar

I agree with Thumb. I hope with more detail you can see Mulder and Scully… otherwise someone’s gonna think there’s an X4 on the way.

  20. Gravatar

    It’s good.

  21. Gravatar

I think it’s the best one could hope for without the movie actually having an official title.

  22. Gravatar

Those aren’t STARS. Those are snowflakes.

And what Mulder and Scully are walking on is also snow.

  23. Gravatar

it could be a fake, but at least its not using such title as ‘X2′.

After a period of x-files x-less alien oil conspiracy vacumm,
i wonder whether this movie could get back its momentum.

The last episode of x-files abruptly ended-poorly & the first movie was like cashing in for a quick cash before they say goodbye to all their devoted fans.

I’ll be queuing to watch ‘X2′ (for all time sake) but not hoping much for any resolution from the storyline.

The poster is real, but I don’t think the stars are. I don’t know where they came from but all the other versions I’ve seen do not have stars. I think that’s what’s making the poster look hokey. It’s much better without them. I like the look, the way they made the shadows make the Xfiles “X” (which by the way is how the xfiles X has looked since the first movie came out). You also have to keep in mind that it’s just a teaser trailer and I’m sure we’ll get a more specific one as July approaches.

  25. Gravatar

I am a designer and I have to say that I like the simplicity. If anyone saw the trailer there are a few “digital” transitions, that is the feeling I get from the poster as well, the dust and the starts. Just my 2 cents (for whatever its worth nowadays)

  26. Gravatar

I really like the poster, and I didn’t / don’t think those were stars just a poorly scanned image.

  27. Gravatar

Actually, I rather like the poster - real or not. I think it’s kind of clever. At any rate, I’m anxious for the film if for no other reason than to see Scully again. Yum.

  28. Gravatar

i like it & im soooooo excited to see the gang take another crack at the x-files universe. ya’ll can bitch all you want, we’re lucky to have these guys pulling things back together after 10 years. i saw them at the wondercon SF panel, & even though they didn’t give us the scoop on the new film, they’re a group that TRULY cares about their fans.

  29. Gravatar

I think it’s neither good nor bad. It’s just boring. Still excited for the flick though…

  30. Gravatar

I think this is meant to be a “teaser” poster anyway. I’m sure we’ll get at least one more poster that is more elaborate.

I like it as a teaser poster.

  31. Gravatar

not a fan of x-files or anything… but nice concept poster…
so i like it… but yeh.. it does look low quality.. blocky characters.. :(

  32. Gravatar

Agreed with above. I think this is just a teaser poster. The first movie had like 3 of them, all with a similar concept. Just an image with an X and the movie date. Closer to the movie release date, they came out with the actual movie poster, which gave the title, date, actors, etc.

Good teaser poster. Bad official movie poster, which I doubt it is.

  33. Gravatar

its real i went to da movies n i was shocked when i saw the poster, its REAl

  34. Gravatar

Well duh, it’s real. It’s still a teaser poster.
