A poster and movie trailer for the Pang Brothers‘ August remake of their ‘99 Thai crime thriller, Bangkok Dangerous, starring Nicholas Cage has hit the Web. Really, is this the best poster a designer could envision with a title like that? Cage, who at one point was also attached to a U.S. remake of Oldboy (those words always make a couple peoples’ heads explode like Riki-Oh), plays a hitman who falls in love with a local lass and falls friends for an errand boy (like Short Round?!?). In the original film, the assassin was a deaf mute, but not here. Cage has to do his Elvis impression to pull in the world’s ladies, no?

Cage playing the part of a Daesu part? Actually that would be pretty damn cool!
Old Boy was a classic and I would definately like to see it remade with a cool Amercian director at the helm. Maybe someone like Chris Nolan.

Christ… Its like looking a fucking Phil Collins album cover.
The only reason I tolerate N.Cage anymore is cuz he will always be Sailor Ripley to me. His best role ever. (Leavening Lost Vegas was brilliant as well…)….But his track record for the last ten years has pretty much got him down to his last thread of cool for me….
One more shit film and I turn my back forever.

ah yes, *bangkok* where one of the best ways to know what is *dangerous* is to have read the nonfiction book “hello my big big honey!” — which hopefully cage will read while ironically chuckling that his other film *lord of war* became a *bangkok* story as well with the arrest in bangkok of the alleged person he played in the film: the jailed russian viktor bout. not quite a “hello my big big honey!” twist, but ah yes, bangkok…

It’s a silly and tired gimmick for tough characters to spout off a numbered list of rules, particularly in a preview. I wish it would stop, but I can’t say that it is ineffective.

this looks unbelievably cliched (what hired killer suddenly finds love and stops killing so his employers come after him?!?! NO WAY!) and there is no way you can take cage seriously with that hair. and jezzus… i hope you are kidding. cage as oh daesu would be a travesty, as well as anyone but chan wook park directing.

This movie has been done since 2006. It has been in limbo for pretty obvious reasons, and really has no real resemblance to the original movie.
