The new issue of Empire Magazine has a new photo from Bryan Singer’s Valkyrie, which stars Tom Cruise as Col. Claus von Stauffenberg, a German General who plots to assassinate Adolph Hitler at the height of World War II. Also, dewfs snapped this photo (seen below) of the Berlin set of additional photography a couple weeks ago.

Valkyrie hits theaters on October 3rd 2008.

Looks like a flop is coming.

Germans without German accents. Should be good…….

Gotta agree with the earlier two posters. This just seems as wrong as casting Chinese actresses to play Japanese leads who happen to speak (poor) Enlish in “Memoirs of a Geisha”. After “Superman Returns” I just don’t trust Bryan Singer any longer. He had all the resources a director could dream of during the making of that movie and he managed a piss poor reinsterpretation of Richard Donners seminal comic book flick. Trailer doesn’t look promising and Tom Cruise just quite isn’t the box-office behemoth he used to be.

aaahhh i see germany in the background. i miss it. tom cruise is kinda crazy. ill probably watch this movie anyway. success!

Dying to see this film!

Im rooting for them to get an Oscar nod or even a Golden globe. A win would be awesome. The original Valkyrie film with the German accent was no good Hollywood didnt care for it and even the German people. So accents does not matter. The storyline is what matters most and the acting. So many movies are not accurate with the accents so dont watch the film if you’re just after the accents.
This movie is for history buffs and intelligent audiences.

I know someone that worked on this film during scenes filmed at the airport. He said that Bryan Singer was an arsehole who hit his children in his trailer. It was not to be mentioned on set by cast or crew but was well known.
And Cruise was as arrogant and snobby as you think he is.
Singer also even had the audacity to blame the audience for its reception of Superman Returns, despite the film’s lacklustre storyline and poor structure.
I hope this film dies.

I wouldn’t be surprised to know most of the people commenting here, read Star magazine on their toilets, instead of the New York times or something.
I really don’t give a shit about accents. I just wanna see this movie cause of Tom Cruise and cause him being linked to it, makes it fresh in my mind that some German men actually tried to bring down Hitler, something I never knew before. Maybe my kids will read about this in their history books one day. An untold story. Lovely. I can’t wait for a new and even better Valkyrie trailer, one that will convince me to drag as many people as possible to the movie theatre when it premieres!

Too the person spreading lies in here. Quit fabricating stuff creep. Bryan Singer doesn’t even have kids. Go spread lies on Paris Hilton articles, that is more meaningful.

LOL! Cruise is by far named the most friendliest by the people along with the Deppster and Will Smith. Singer has many videos signing kids autographs and he’s not married and has no kids. WB just assigned Singer to continue with Superman. Poor jealous ones and Im really looking forward to this movie. I have the script and its really good. Very suspenseful. Its time the world does not only link Germany to Hitler but to witness they have many real heroes too.

I am german. I am interested in our sad history. And i even like some Tom Cruise flicks.
But its just wrong that a head propagandist of a fascist system stars as a hero who wants to kill the leader of another fascist system.

This is gonna be the best comedy of the year! American and British actors in no way attempting German accents! Brilliant idea, give Singer a pat on the back from me!
March 28th, 2008 at 5:02 am
I always amazed at how shallow people are and how readily people fabricate stories and spread them. I am sure that person who said Singer beats his kids writes for star magazine. I don’t care about accents. I would rather actors do not have accents like Angelina Jolie in Alexander. Concetrate on the movie and do some good acting which am sure Tom Cruise will deliver. I am looking forward to this movie.

Another movie that wont disappoint from Tom Cruise and its about time Singer gets back to his serious roots other than the usual superhero flares. This brings back cool memories of how great Unusual Suspects was.

when is this film out?
March 28th, 2008 at 3:27 pm
The Scientologists could only push Lions for Lambs to $15 million. What makes them think they could do better this time?
March 28th, 2008 at 10:46 pm
Lions for Lambs cost 35 million to make and on Box office sites Lions garnered 57 million.
And Ceiling, name one anti war movie from Hollywood that smashed big records at the box office?
Great luck to this team and bring on Valkyrie.
March 29th, 2008 at 1:34 pm
This is my kind of movie.
March 29th, 2008 at 6:07 pm
Cruise is always amazing onscreen, just watch his last movies:MI:III and Lions for Lambs. I look forward to this new one.

Accents?
People are bothered about accents?
You think German people go around talking English in German accents.
WRONG.
They talk German.
So it doesn’t matter what the heck accent they speak in.
Personally, I think this film has the potential to be great.
And I don’t agree with the people who didn’t like Superman Returns. Singer’s X-Men films really weren’t that good (contrary to popular belief), and it was actually Superman Returns that restored my faith in the man.
Considering Cruise’s last period piece was The Last Samurai - a near-flawless film - I have high hopes for this one.
March 30th, 2008 at 4:21 pm
All anti war movies dont do well. The new anti war movie out this weekend by Ryan Phillope Stop Loss only opened $ 4 million.
Im more saddened why Cruise garnering so many awards and is a true entertainer still has no award from the Academy same with so many actors being snubbed. Valkyrie is not just intelligent entertainment but a story that needs to be told. You cant compare Valkyrie to Disney movies, blockbuster comedies or even the Superhero blockbusters.
