Rather epic new images for this summer’s Iron Man have touched down over at Yahoo that show Tony Stark facing off against the film’s main villain Iron Monger aka Obadiah Stane (played by Jeff Bridges/killer effects). Loving how the SUV above is packed with people. Click to make them all pop. I’d say about 90% of the imagery from this film so far dazzles like few comic book films before it, but there is a debate waging about how well the film will do at the box office.
Over in the comments for Peter’s interesting Video Games Vs. Movies Rant, the questionable Grand Theft Auto IV-Iron Man “showdown” is mentioned, as well as Iron Man’s status as a “b-level superhero.” All that aside, these images of Iron Monger and Iron Man launching automobiles at one another have me more stoked than the TIH trailer with The Hulk and Abomination facing off in hang time. What do you think?

Those pics are AWESOME. I can’t wait to see this battle. Finally looks like Marvel is getting the comic book movie right.
4 great Comic Book movies this summer
The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man, Hellboy II: The Golden Army, and The Dark Knight
Since when has a summer looked this good?

Looks to be the greatest battle between hero and villain since Superman vs. Zod, Hopefully other Up coming comic book movies can take note , this is how awesome final battles should look.

Me again, someone forward this to the guy who runs this website, which hero/villain face off are you looking forward to see, and the choices will be Batman/Joker, Iron Man/Iron Monger, Hulk/Abomination, or Hellboy/Prince Nuala

So they’re just seeing who can lift cars? What a lame battle.

Kenton:
It’s hard to choose! But if I had to pick one I think the one I pick will be less destructive, but definately more dramatic (and cool).
Joker vs. Batman
I’ve only seen parts of the Nuala vs. Hellboy fight but I think GDT will set it up nicely. I think the major fight will be Hellboy vs. The Golden Army which looks very much like it could have been stripped from the comic book.
The Iron Man vs. Iron Monger scenes released look CRAZY! The one where Monger is about to use a car full of people as a weapon is the best.
I don’t know about Hulk vs. Abom. since we’ve only seen a little bit.
March 27th, 2008 at 10:13 am
Also, as long as the 20+ minute fight between Abom and Hulk isn’t them rolling around on the ground and repeatedly puching one another in the face it should be cool. I hope they, as Bruce Dickenson would say, “Really Explore the Studio Space!”
Like climbing buildings, throw cars and other objects at each other, and I hope the fact that Aboms skin is razor sharp comes into play.

@ Kenton
Nice idea. We’ll do that in a couple of weeks. In the meantime, pregame in the comments here.
My choice is Batman/Joker followed by Iron Man/Iron Monger followed by Seth Rogen/James Franco/Plants.

Iron Man looks like it is going to be incredible! This summer’s line-up is amazing and I am excited for all of them. I don’t like predicting winners and losers, so hard to know the details before seeing them, but all of them seem to be serious contenders and I am looking forward to seeing them all.
Iron Man has always been my favorite individual hero and I’ve been looking forward to the movie since… well, since the movie was first hinted at back in the early eighties. But I honestly don’t know how well he is going to do at the BO, he isn’t Spider-Man or Superman or Batman, his popularity and awareness among the general population is pretty low. But a strong opening and powerful word-of-mouth should help.

Is Ghostface Killah going to be featured in this Movie? Hunter you hear of anything about that?
Anyway, yeah I can’t wait. It should be interesting to see how Hellboy II: which is mostly make-up and costumes compares to the CGI counterparts. GDT only uses CGI when it is necessary to achieve a visual effect.
I think Wink the giant Ogre in Hellboy II looks extra real cause the textures are man made compare to CGI based.

@ The Jezzus
Yes, Mr. Rap Rock n Roll filmed a little something for Fav. Not sure if he did anything for the soundtrack. If not, next time. It needs to happen.

2. Iron Man vs. Iron Monger* lol
March 27th, 2008 at 7:52 pm
I thought it was Obadiah Stane, not Obadiah Stone.
March 27th, 2008 at 8:58 pm
Seriously though i want to see Iron Man but the juggernaut that is GTA4 will probably over take the majority of people who would have seen this movie.

Just saw the new commercial with more clips including the car throwing scene. Looks great.
March 28th, 2008 at 8:25 pm

can barely wait …
March 28th, 2008 at 9:08 pm
This is so funny and childish, therefore cute !
Why this two monsters even have to fight ?
I mean they are looking like two brothers that are made of metal.
This new movie must be nothing but special effects.
March 29th, 2008 at 12:12 am
GTA will be better than this
March 29th, 2008 at 1:08 am
In the car throwing scene, can’t they replace the car with Hillary?
March 30th, 2008 at 9:18 am
Looks fun enough.
I doubt it will be groundbreakingly original (it looks like a fairly generic superhero movie with a Batman Begins-esque plot), but I’m sure it’ll be worth the ticket.
