I'm certain that Bird's vision of SF in '06 will be authentic,
just as Polanski's vision of Pompeii WOULD have been, if only he hadn't pulled out. Imagine both films coming out in 2009! I just hope that BB includes Enrico Caruso's concert the very night before the quake, and the way the Chinese were treated. So many possibilities. The casting will be interesting. And what will the poster look like....?

I saw Dalessandro talk about shopping "1906" to Spielberg and Sonnenfeld as a film after completing the novel last year at CINEQUEST, so I purchased it immediately. A pretty strong story -- I bet it will be a big hit, especially internationally.

It's got all the right elements -- an intelligent, resourceful hero, a smart and strong female co-lead, special effects and plenty of gangsters and corrupt politicians. As a San Franciscan, I'm really looking forward to seeing this on the big screen.

Jezzus: the real estate market (or any antique market for that matter) never makes any sense. Actually, I haven't read the book, but plan to pick it up this week. I've heard nothing but great things about it. I also trust that Brad Bird can't make a bad film, and he has the record to prove it.

A good friend actually own a house that was damaged in this quake. There is a huge crack that offsets the top of the fireplace, and continues up the wall into his bedroom. I aske him why he doesn't get it fixed and he said that the person that sold him the house said it makes the house more valuable.

WTF?!?!

To me it's more of a reminder of what didn't happen before and could eventually (most likely in our lifetime) happen again.

The storyline is sounding a little bit Dante's Peak-ish Peter. what do you think?
