Alright, I’m not going to cough up everything that’s going on with Fanboys at The Weinstein Co. because you don’t need to even know what Fanboys is to enjoy these idiotic, foul-mouthed, hilarious, pathetic email fights below. They’re between actual fanboys who are angry over the film being reshot and released without a cancer boy subplot and the director responsible for said reshoots and untold evils against humanity, Steve “Heavyweights, Little Nicky, Without a Paddle” Brill. It’s perplexing that a supposedly mature adult in a position of authority would carry on like this. It’s even more perplexing that the genius behind Heavyweights, Little Nicky and Without a Paddle thinks that he is somehow capable of improving… well, just about anything.
You’d think the guy would try to persuade the fans that his changes will help the film rather than alienate them entirely. Obviously, based on his work history, this is just another example of his excellent judgement.

Wow, how good would the marketing people behind this movie be if the whole reshoots and whatnot were never really going to happen, just something to create this huge controversy and publicity for this movie so that in the end they can pretend to let the fans win and build even more support for it. I for one don’t think i ever would have heard about or been interested in this movie if it weren’t for what’s going on right now.

I like Steve Brill. Is he the most original mind in comedy or filmmaking? No, but neither am I or anyone else.
Leave him alone. He’s just doing a job. It’s not like they hired fuckin McG or something retarded and ridiculous. Brill does know comedy, maybe not to the fullest extent, but he’s good. Give him a chance.
As far as the fanboys of fanboys are concerned, get over it. Hollywood has taken over and we’ll all hafta deal with what they put out. Simple as that.
On another note, I am definitely renting Lost Boys 2 on DVD when it comes out.

Jeez, why can’t some one be a fan of a film or film franchise without also being a whiny hateful bitch. From what I gather no one has seen a final cut of Fanboys and apparently only a handfull have seen a rough cut of the previous version. Why not wait until you see a movie to piss and moan about how it was ruined, it could concievably be a better movie, or it could have sucked either way and Stephen Brill could have done little to save it.
If these people put half as much effort into doing real good, like I dunno raising money for actual cancer patients, as they do getting Star Wars themed comedy movie released in their imagined preferred format, maybe they wouldn’t spend all their time in their parents basement getting over emotional about a piece of entertainment. In the meantime leave the guy alone.

It seems to be popular opinion on the more respectable movie sites, like CHUD, that Fanboys stinks and all this righteous indignation from the fanbase is being woefully misplaced.
If some uppity little prick emailed me to say nothing more illuminating than “Fuck you” then I’d probably lose my temper with them, too.

Kyle Newman did direct Fanboys, AND he was also directing a McG produced remake of Revenge of the Nerds a year and a half ago that I was working on. Whatever Brill ends up with as a credit is completely undeserving, from the very standpoint of he didn’t make this movie. He made the After-Movie. What a system
