Three days ago we came across a production listing for Rambo 5 on an international film news website. The rumored next installment in Sylvester Stallone’s second biggest franchise was listed to shoot on one or more new sound stages now being constructed in Bulgaria by a major European production studio. While Sly has played up his nickname on the sequel subject, the rumor was even stranger since January’s Rambo movie seemed to set up a return to America for the character. Bulgaria?!

Today, Clint at MovieHole reports that a close source tells him that Bulgaria will actually serve as Rambo’s hometown “somewhere in Arizona” in the film. Yeah, I laughed too. Not because I think this is necessarily untrue, but, well Rambo’s gotta eat I guess. Here’s the tipster…

“The street sets of Bulgaria that are getting the makeover, the same ones that were rented out and used in Van Damme’s The Shepherd, will be doubling for Rambo’s hometown, which is supposed to somewhere in Arizona.”

While Stallone filmed a good portion of his last flick in Thailand, that’s where the awesome film was set. Without spoiling anything, the end of Rambo T’d up a pretty epic storyline or two, like “Rambo vs. Terrorists” or better, “Rambo vs. USA…Again,” and then there’s Stallone’s interviews where he says he wants to take the character into a different genre.  This is all speculation, but I guess if Lake Placid 2 passed off Bulgaria for the States, uh, Stallone could do it, too. But what about Vegas, Fort Bragg, LAX, the Hollywood sign, and Rupert Jee’s Hello Deli? Rambo needs to hit the road in a battle wagon and make like Clark Griswold or Henry Rollins.

Discuss: If Rambo 5 is set in the USA, where should the character kill people?

Texas and Florida should be wiped out.

Both in the film and in real life.

    There won´t be a Rambo 5.

Stallone made the latest Rocky and Rambo to finish up with “his” characters. Rocky finished boxing, and Rambo turned home after all these years in Burma.

    That´s it.

I’m with Capt. Awesome on this one….

Florida and Texas need to be culled by Rambo.

Sorry matthew… Concider this your warning, get out of Florida or get your head chopped/blown/torn off by Rambo.

He’s finally home! I thought that was the best possible happy ending for a Rambo flick to cap off on. Let it be. No more.

Ok..here’s the plot to Rambo 5:

Rambo is working on rebuilding the world trade center…. A fleet of Army hummers show up all of a sudden. 200 army rangers run out and surround the perimeter. A team of Delta force soldiers drop down from helicopters in a circle around Rambo and grab him like he was a Tier 1. Throw a bag over his head, zip tie his wrists behind his back and drag him back to the hum V line. ( helicopters circle overhead like in Black hawk down) Rambo wakes up, naked hanging from the ceiling by his wrists in a steel cage. He’s in GITMO. He’s being held by the USA as an unlawful combatant because he trained and faught with the taliban in Rambo 3.

Rambo eventually escapes GITMO in a wave of gore, killing all the sadistic guards and freeing all the other innocent unlawful combatants ….but Rambo leaves a few in their cages cuz he “knows they are guilty”.

Rambo takes a submarine back to the USA….and kills Bush with a long range exploding arrow to the face.

im wondering if some of the most recent rambo’s success was because we hadnt seen him in so long. it was good, but do we need another so soon? i am in no way at all chomping at the bit for part 5, regardless of how good the last one was. there are much better projects sly could tackle.

also, i know i am in the minority - especially on /film - of people who don’t mind waiting between films. this current state of most film-lovers and their NOW NOW NOW mindset, is irritating to say the least. patience always brings out a better product, ALWAYS.

For making a sequel to John Rambo, I think he should go back to the past.

Maybe a flashback to the past, where Rambo is living a normal life at the age of 18 (Or another young age), when he’s been called to serve in the army. There he’s been send to Vietnam what declares his acting in the first four movies.

I know it’s wishfull thinking, but I think there’s no better story than this one. Beginning where John Rambo ended: walking down the road to the farm where his father lives. Then suddenly seeing one of the horses walking by and thinking back to his past.

Please let it be like this Sly!!

There’s not even going to be a Rambo 5! This is just a bunch of gossip as Stallone said there wouldn’t be anymore Rambo movies. You can take a look at this article: http://www.sizzlingpopcorn.com/wordpress/?p=20

If there was a part 5, I would say that it would take place in Oregon or Washington…..or maybe in D.C. and go after the guys that sent him overseas in the first place!

Hi, interesting news. Stallone sure is the man, who puts life into the character and give us all hope to see him in the best shape of his life. I think we will never get enough of the character because it some ways he reminds us of ourselves, as he represents the indomitable spirit of man.
Before he comes back, do you know there is a new book on Rambo called Rambo Code: Your Survival Guide, based on the philosophy and life lessons from he Rambo series. Check out this cool book at www.rambocode.com. It will knock your socks off.
